lordfang lool youre absolutely right and i dont understand what that person doesn’t understand about it. It’s something im SURE a guy like *Shaquille O’Neal* isnt thinking about or if he even remembers.
@@jaycee3487 No because if you're practicing the wrong way, that is going to become a habit and become permanent. If you're not practicing correctly, you're not actually going to get any better.
My dad has helped me more than I could ever imagine and now I get called the best shooter they've seen by adults even. For my middle school basketball season I shot like 50 percent from three and I've gotten even better shooting like 80 percent in practice and around the same 50 in game
I always wondered why I couldn’t shoot like NBA players and now you explain the reason, I totally agree, I started playing very young and with heavy balls, so I push it from my chest with force and continued like that up today..but now I understand that’s the reason, I’ll work on correcting it..
I haven’t played a competitive game of basketball in over 10 years but this skill is something that always sticks with you. Give me 5-10 minutes to warm up and I can still make 7/10 one armed free throws easily.
Play around-the-world by yourself with one, then get right under the hoop & move back a step after each shot. Then do the same thing using both hands (still without jumping). That’s the perfect warm up/work out to get your form together
I have been trying to get better and Go to the nba so this helps so much because this has been one of my biggest things I need to work on so thanks so much means a lot u r the best CZcamsr
This is true because I was a post until middle school so when I was moved to guard I already had the strength to shoot it far out and could use my regular form. Then with a lot of repetition over the years and boom. Knockdown shooter
Use your legs to neutralize your momentum and create the repeatable motion after. Alot of youngsters weren't strong enough to shoot with their elbow in. I know changing my jumper was a long process but good mechanics never leave you.
At the beginning of this season i had a two handed shot but our basketball coach had us do one handed shooting drills for ten minutes each practice and it really helped
I taught myself everything I know when it comes to basketball, I first got interested in basketball when I was in 7th grade and didn’t really take it seriously until last year my sophomore year. When I was younger I shot terribly of course but I eventually practiced to have a better form and watched videos on how to do so. My coach says I am a great shooter.
I was rlly bad at basketball two years ago in the summer when I watched this video this is what made me fall in love with basketball I’ve worked so hard now I’m rlly good 4am mornings I’ve been putting in that work now tysm
This is obviously great advice. But, one secret that always worked for me was my shueting angle is not straight at the center of the basket. My shaht always moved towards a corner(left or right corner--it did not matter which) of the hoop right before it went in. Watch a great shueter's ball trajectory as it moves to through the air using a video; then, mimic what they do until you perfect it. If you have one available, use a small circle hoop(smaller circumference than normal). Those hoops at the MJCC(Memphis Job Corps Center) were invaluable to shueting!
I’ve always had a nice jumper and what really gave me good form was free throws. My coach when I was in 8th grade would make us shoot free throws for like 30ish minutes nonstop. That’s where you build your basic mechanics and then you can start working on jumpers. Me personally I like the two motion shot with the high release. I copied dirks form mostly because I grew up watching him
I never did these but still developed okay form from just shooting around everywhere as a kid, I was out there day after day for a few hours just shooting.
I dont like to play competitive basketball or anything like that but I used to play in middle school and I thought I could pick it up as a hobby for over the summer and stuff in between baseball and football season
Shooting too far away from the basket wasn't apart of my childhood backyard bball tournaments. We were bodying ppl and trying to fade away or dunk. Thx MJ. Thx Rodman.
I would assume in all sports, that when you practice enough, start at an early age, good support system, and good coaching should do the trick. good luck and have fun.
You're exactly right. But also technique has changed. The one-motion shot technique is in the men's game. There aren't many 2 motion shooters now, which is you release the ball at the apex of you jump i.e. Ray Allen or Kobe Bryant. The 2 motion shot is what was taught back in the day. But now the 1 motion technique is proven to be better especially from long range.
no way! i have been shooting one handed for most of my life, like off the dribble with my shooting hand and just getting rotation. it works and makes for some fun times when people see a middle aged man lighting up the young bucks with an arm behind my back
Never shake a men hand, and not look him in his eye.

The other one is to do conditioning exercises that improves stamina. You will always get a bad shooting if you are out of breath.
No one talking about this is just ridiculous
This man's holding onto Shaqs coattail for dear life. It's beginning to look desperate and lame af
It works. Do this drill over a few weeks and pay attentions to your form during practices and you will naturally be doing it in a few week
This is also the best way to develop an off-hand shot.

Good information, thanks. I am an outside shooter myself and always looking for ways to improve my shot, esp. because I am self-taught.

helps to also shoot up and not out while following the natural movement of your arm for your power and just a flick of the wrist for the direction
