This is off topic but ever since trying many of these curly methods I've developed a dry flaky scalp which I never experienced before. I'm currently using mostly coconut products which I've heard are not actually moisturizing.. I'm not sure how to fix it.

Hyaluronic acid will get ya everytime lol. I once made the mistake of doing a "dry refresh" (for me that means a bit of product emulsified with water in my hand and then smoothing / gently finger coiling wonky curls) where I used CS air dry cream
On some dry frizzy pieces that needed moisture. I used only that product lol. It was a typical hot & humid FL day! NOT a good look!

I personally don’t find the smell overly strong or that it lingers too much, but it is definitely and obviously fragranced. If you’re very sensitive to perfumes, this might be a bit much, but it doesn’t come across to me as cloying or headache-inducing. I hope that helps!
