    If you’re attempting a resto-mod, or even a restoration yourself, at home, with limited resources, it’s going to take a long time. What is often overlooked is you are chasing a moving target, the restoration standard you aim for is out of date years later, as are the cool aftermarket parts for your resto-mod, somebody is always marketing a new improved version of what you bought five years ago.

    That's one lesson I have learned over the years. Stay away from rust buckets and disassembled cars. Also , I stay on one platform, the A bodies. The lightweights. Unique in their own right.

    • @rocketresto
      @rocketresto  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Staying in one platform is seriously underrated. We have been dabbling a bit into the 55-62 Forward Look cars and it’s like learning French after speaking English your whole life.

    I bet you know someone that has a 69 Charger that could use those seats. This video is a good lesson for anyone that decides to attempt a project of this magnitude. I can't even imagine sorting that mess out. Great video Tom!

    Being in the auto transport business, i find it amazing how many cars get taken taken all apart and then sold. Ive had countless car like this in my trailer.

    Perfect candidate for a restomod, and a Gen III/8spd is a great idea.

      Hoping we can find a customer who wants to finish it. We have such a back log right now hard to justify doing this car and having our long term projects sit.

    @Tom, when you said 392 hemi I thought you meant the early 392 hemi not the late model...If Indy had donated heads I would have just built the 440 with a stroker kit.

    • @rocketresto
      @rocketresto  Před 3 měsíci

      Gen III hemi, first gen 392 would be cool but not appropriate for this one.

    I have lots of projects to do but I take care of mine one at a time. I have an old Ford 8N tractor which has a bad exhaust leak, needs new gauges and water temp sensor, headlight switch is broke. I have all the parts. That's my next project.

    The 1970 Dodge Charger power motor drive headlight don't bend the bar's 7:42 that's not a wiper motor. Man, I wish I could buy the 1969 seat's. Sacrilege, to put a next gen hemi in a Charger R/t that has a 440 with it

    Project Focus/Project Drift....
    Newer shiny baubles come out, promising even more power, glorified in popular automotive media, ADHD, all your buddies are married with kids, Boredom, lots of Overtime and a high-limit low- interest Credi Card later...
    My advice- keep it simple, keep down-time short, keep it inexpensive, avoid trick-of -the-week stuff.

    I saw those green cloth seats in the swap meet at the Van Nuys Spring Fling.
    The '70 Charger is not a cheap car to restore but having the fenders and hood really DO help!

      @@rocketresto It was good to hear a guy talk Mopars and not say "Posi" or advocate for every aftermarket part on the market....coil over front suspensions, cowl induction hoods and such.
      The grille is a tough one for these cars but there are reproductions that are said to be quite good.
      Best of luck with the build.

    Hey guys, I've got a great idea. How about we put the cart before the horse? That's thinking outside the box. I see a ton of wasted $$$$ and a ton more that's going to be spent. The car is a perfect candidate for a resto mod. Get rid of the K frame and put in a tubular one with tubular A arms and coil overs, a Gen III Hemi and transmission. Those B bodies are barges that like to roll and need all the help they can get. Really pains me when I see folks lucky enough to win a car like this, blow a ton of money on parts that won't work and then bring their basket case to someone else to sort out. Must be nice to have deep pockets.

    • @rocketresto
      @rocketresto  Před 3 měsíci +1

      If we do this car it will be done right. Not a fan of coil overs on an old Mopar, they put stresses where they are not supposed to go on a uni body.

    If this Is a real R/T , Is a dumb ideaMade a resto mod , this chargers are real unique in original form , a good big block , four speed , a Magnum 500 wheels , and in one of hi impact colors , this B bodys in pluma crazy o sublime looks super Kool .
    This proyect need a good shop , AND you can do the magíc 🍺

    • @rocketresto
      @rocketresto  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Normally I would agree but with no fender tag, no broadcast sheet and not numbers matching think it’s a perfect candidate.
