Please never advertise for this predatory company anymore.
This. Kind of disappointed how this is a new meta now. They're probably just stealing a ton of user data on the app and selling it off (nearly every app does this though), on top of sending you shitty stuff.
Not just predatory but dodgey. Those paints may well have lead in them. If you're a brush licker never ever ever buy paints from China unless they're from a reputabe company.
yeah, just keep buying from Amazon man, a completely honest company that totally doesn't treat it's employees like slaves!
Please define the nonsensical phrase "predatory company"? Do they stalk you, come to your home, and extort money from you under pain of physical injury or death?
@@dougpridgen9682 Child labor and spyware is the definition of predatory. Grow up and get educated on what this company is doing.
Can we stop advertising these actual scam sites 💀
On some things, sure, but for most? You're literally buying the same things off Amazon when you are shipping for simple type supplies, paying sometimes up to x10 for them. Same gargbage, upmarked to insanity. Now, isn't THAT a scam site?
What IS a scam there is the fake discounts and coupons they do, they pretend to discount things from price the item never had. But again, Amazon does the same recently.
@@AllinWhenPlayinga scam is a scam is a scam bro
@@AllinWhenPlaying its not the items that are a scam. Its the app. Temu is owned by PDD. A chinese owned company that got in a lot of trouble in the past for illegally stealing user data on a different app. So they killed the app and "fired" the dev team. (Read: moved them to Temu, instead.)
Shut the fuck up and watch the video...or don't. Just stop being a bitch
Weird I thought he showed some decent products for decent prices. What is the problem, exactly? Not a vague idea. The real issues that has happened here.
A bit disappointed in you for endorsing them. Felt similar with Squidmar when he advertised the lord of the print tarrasque from an unlicensed seller
Everything we by today is basically made in China anyway. Why pay 3 to 10 times markup for the same product in a fancy box if it is hobby branded?
Mainly because the cheap versions are ripped off illegally? Nothing goes back to the original creator or business- most of whom have staff to pay and other costs!
@@ninja_cazzle2641 some people just refuse to grasp how wrong illegal recasting is
I am more than just a bit disappointed. Endorsing Temu is enough for me to unsubscribe.
A lot of those prices on basic stuff weren't so different from Dollar Store or even low end at a Michaels.
Ninjon, I love your work and your videos but can't help feeling confused that you criticize GW for their business practices and at the same time support Temu. I get it, it's ad $$$, fair enough. I just feel there are far better independent sellers and other retailers to support.
Edit: typo
Temu's endorsement of the 996 workweek (9am to 9pm, 6 days a week / 72 hours) doesn't sound appealing?

Always happy to see you post a video, Jon, but seeing this as Temu sponsored video kind of soured it for me. Given the allegations and whatnot, it seems rather precarious to be sponsored by them. Please be careful with who you are sponsored by, I'd like to see more of your work.
and what are the allegations? and is there any proof for those allegations or just Amazon not wanting to lose a share of their market?
@@VMinoda Alright, I'll bite the bait. Look, there are multiple scam sites out there right now that use like-for-like trademarks, imagery stripped from Temu's site. They are currently facing legal action in Europe and the US. It's good that these scam sites are being brought to court, but it would not be hard to believe that more are out there. It stands to reason that people not familiar with Temu might be more easily phished or scammed. Then there are the forced labor accusations which should make anyone wary and should be a major dissauding factor. Additionally, the parent company of Temu, PDD Holdings, has a history of using malware in their apps (namely malware was found in their Pinduoduo app). That doesn't prove if Temu's webstore/app has anything like it, but that history of being intensely invasive is troubling to say the least.
If you don't care about that, then there are the numerous complaints filed with the BBB, which rated Temu 2.1/5 after receiving 235 complaints back in April. There are also reports (one them being anecdote from a close friend) of people not receiving advertised products bought from Temu, and there are allegations of copyright infringment and sometimes straight-up theft. Look at the video for an example: those grass tufts look exactly the same as those sold by The Army Painter (they removed the logo, but failed to remove the paint splash product art in the insert). That directly harms well-established (and more times than not, well-loved) brands within the hobby space.
My point being is that Temu is a rather unscrupulous sponsor. They are aggressively trying to gain mindshare in the US, Europe, and else where to compete with the like of Amazon and other big marketplaces. That isn't troubling in of itself, but Temu itself raises some serious red flags with it's business practices and marketplace it offers to consumers is frought with issues. Sure it's cheap, but at what other cost? I doubt Amazon has much to fear at this point in time, given Temu's lack of association with trusted name brands and Amazon's deathgrip on the world stage (at least in the "west"). I am also not defending Amazon and their practices either, but that is besides the point. Temu is a platform to be wary of right now and, as the saying goes, "Let the buyer beware". I wouldn't want Jon or anyone else to get scammed or have information taken by Temu to be missused or used illegally. Temu has to demonstrate it is a trustworthy platform; they have failed to do so thus far.
It's a fun video doing what loads of us want to do. Jon has done the consumer a service with this. I now know to be extra cautious if I shop from these types of sellers. TBF eBay Amazon Marketplace can be sketchy too!
Can't post links, but I have found multiple reputable articles stating the parent company had an app delisted from Android because it was elevating itself and stealing user data. There are also far higher than normal complaints of goods being either defective or not as represented. Finally, the odds of them have the merchant license to print Lord of the Print minis and others is very, very small. I at least am aware of no such proof and given that they don't identify the source, it is likely they do not have the license. @@VMinoda
SO why it is bad to promote cheaper amazon? Especially when amazon became such shit?
When you mentioned you were doing this in the podcast I assumed it was un-sponsored and a great way to poke fun at shit websites like this. Dissapointing to see you're supporting them
Do you actually vet your sponsors? This is at least the 2nd that people have called out to be a scam
Nah, he clearly only sees the dollar amount. Time to leave.
In my experience, CZcamsrs will pretty much take any freebie or kickback they can from anyone if it makes them a quick buck. The practice is so common and entrenched on CZcams and in social media that most people won't think twice about it, and any tempest-in-a-teapot controversy just drives views and comments, which only helps them make more money. CZcamsrs know how to work the system to line their pockets.
@@SO-ym3zsnot all of them. I know quite a few that almost never use sponsors or only a few specific ones.
@@SO-ym3zs It's just capitalism
Do YOU actually vet all your purchases you make? Environmental impact, the Working conditions of the Whole Supply Chain?
Seems like TEMU is just trying to sponsor every hobby CZcamsr. I wish more would do a little more research before accepting the sponsorship. Big respect for GameyBuilds for admitting he was unaware of TEMU’s reputation and pulled his sponsored segment.
Nah, they would have to disclose this is sponsored material and we all know youtubers definitely, categorically have enough integrity to abide by both the law and basic human decency, right? Right. Nothing to see here, move along.
I was really proud of Tomska, they sponsored one of his videos and he did a goddamn second of research and was like "nah, this is all garbage" and just edited out all temu references in the video.
Sets a really bad precedent for tabletop/miniature painting youtubers to blatantly try and con their audience like this. I'd have a hard time taking anything endorsed by this guy seriously from now on. Big wool off the eyes moment.
Do you have a link to what's wrong with TEMU? I don't think this video was at all sponsored by them but it definitely satisfies a curiosity about getting affordable supplies. [EDIT : I'm dumb and was not paying attention to the links and kinda blanked out during the video.]
@@FarOutJunkI think it’s safe to say that if a CZcamsr is offering up a discount code of some kind for a company, then it’s likely a sponsored video of some kind.
This is a 22 minute commercial for a scam website. You are better than this.
I by from them often and have never been scamed. Why do you think it is a scam site?
i get magnets on there cheap as hell. so if your are really carful you can throw out the reverse uno card on them and get so good deals. but yes the site is very shady when it comes to the picture shown verses what you get.
@@johannisson77 yes, you will get your products. In exchange, they copy all the data on your phone and all data is controlled by the Chinese government, completely unprotected. And let's not forget how the company is clearly stealing sculpts from indie miniature companies. Several of them have already been identified in other comments.
Is he?
Starting to think he isnt.
Those tufts are literally Army Painter tufts, they didn’t even bother to change the packaging.
@@jamesjohnson-xc5qm I think it’s more of a scam going on. They still have the Army Painter paper on the back, not specifically the paper the tufts are stuck to but the one behind it. It’s has the Army Painter colors and patterning. It looks VERY much like their text on the back as well and their painted example. The only thing missing is the big text in the front saying “Army Painter”. Otherwise it is the exact same with their packaging. It’s too much of a coincidence, feels like the factory is taking a fair few for themselves and selling as their own and not even bothering to repackage.
Squidmar bought a very similar looking pack from Temu and those also were Army Painter tufts with the same packaging but claimed to not be Army Painter tufts, there you could even see that it said “Army Painter” on the back. Smells like some kind of scam.
I bought the tufts, the back literally has army painter bottles on the back. And they sre just like the legit ones I bought.
Definitly just third shift products, basically after the 1st and seocnd shift, the company in china makes a shit ton on their own and then sells thme off without the branding on it.

Please Jon, just say you are making a sponsored video. You would never waste 500 bucks on such a site. It´s ok because it helps you, but be honest.
"Did i get SCAMMED?" nah you got sponsored, paid and lied
Ninjon lost brownie points on this one. Feel like this was a sponsored video rather than an impartial review.
They guy regularly has a big list of sponsor links he gets kickbacks on in his video descriptions. I don't see that this is different :(
Sponsors are fine, but this company, in particular, has a bunch of scam accusations. Some are about credit card fishing and others about selling unlicensed products.
I'd argue that sponsors put a CZcamsr in a grey area at best, an unethical one at worst, because how do we know to what extent the sponsor has influenced (either directly or subconsciously) the opinions being voiced by the CZcamsr? And of course we're not seeing any contracts, NDA's, etc. that are signed behind the scenes. Anyone posting any thing purporting to be a review should buy the product with their own money and have no ties to the sponsor, financial or personal.@@GarrettPDGA
Because it is a sponsored video.
@Dussellus that's not the issue, it's that the sponsor is a scam site. Just like mystery boxes
It would have been nice if you had actually tested the items to see if they're any good.
In specific the cutters from that 9 piece hobby kit, because lets face it there is a very wide range in how good those kinds of cutters are.
That's why Squidmar is still the king channel for this type of stuff. They actually test the shit they order hahaha.
This video is about doing a commercial for Temu, not testing...
I kind of did the same thing with this video that I did on Squidmar's Temu ad video - skip around so that it took me about 5 minutes to watch. The "Look, I ordered a bunch of random things" videos are okay I guess, but it must be something to tide Jon over so he has a few more days into the new year to put something better out. At least I hope that's the case.
@vegaskatus or a combination of the fact that Temu paid him to do it and, it was a quick video to make to give him time off over Christmas.
The godzilla is absolutely from Lord of the Print. If whoever is selling that doesnt have the commercial license, that's a problem.
I believe the angel is too, I recognized it from my to-buy STL collection

Thank god we get to watch the same video Squidmar made, again.
Cmon man.
Glad I unsubbed from him a while ago
CZcams mini channels usually copy each other. There's only so much to say about painting minis, so they jump on the bandwagon of the week--think Slapchop--and basically repeat each other and then repeat themselves repeating each other. It got old long ago.
i. was thinking the same thng but was unsure if I was going crazy.. but holy shit they are so alike.
I can't remember the last time I saw any min painting channel just show how to paint something well using 'x' techniques. They've all just become ego stroking, money harvesting farms.
That's why I rarely watch any of them anymore and unsubscribe them. They mostly seem far more interested in playing the CZcams/social media game than in minis themselves. They repeat the same material over and over in different variations or copy each other when something is trending. And then there's the big issue of ethically shady shilling when they "review" products from their sponsors. These days, I just paint and enjoy figuring out things for myself or look up a particular technique or issue when I get stuck.@@RJ-fm2bd

You know what, I would have probably watched all this video and not noped out 4 mins because it seemed suss if he's actually just said up top that it was a sponsored video.
I've seen a few similar videos elsewhere, and they at least scrutinised the products properly. Soon as he didn't bother testing the brushes, and didn't talk more about the glue gun (what was the charging time? How long did it take to heat up? etc), and just blew past the mimic likely being pirated, I knew this wasn't up to the standard I'd have expected from Jon.

The GW Paint pot holder is a free STL, definitely not worth $8.99. Temu have a terrible reputation and any company that is offering $100 for free is a serious red flag for scams. I am sorry Jon, but if you are going to shill for companies like Temu my respect for you has plummeted. I now have no confidence that any recommendation you make has not been paid for by a company.
Wow... another CZcamsr I have to reconsider watching for taking money from known scammers, and then telling their viewers to get screwed. Fuck, Jon... what the hell, man?
Yeah. It's gotten really bad with hobby youtubers how they chase the clicks, algorithm and just copy ideas - all for the clicks.
Yep, its a hugely scummy thing to do. @Ninjon - do better.
It's a fun video doing what loads of us want to do. Jon has done the consumer a service with this. I now know to be extra cautious if I shop from these types of sellers. TBF eBay Amazon Marketplace can be sketchy too!
@@Xiv2022 So your argument boils down to, "Well, Jimmy plays with old, wet dynamite, so why shouldn't I?" Cool, thanks.
@@mikelafaille yes, and thanks to Jimmy's experience, I've learned to be more cautious or avoid.
Jon, you really took a sponsor from an espionage company, and then bought numerous stolen prints. Please take this video down.
Hope you don't use electronic communication in the West? NSA, GCHQ etc. are all spying on you all the time. Snowden blew the lid.
Biggest sellout in the game. I dont know why people are just noticing this. Every video he does is just an ad with the same advice every time
Literal 'consoom' youtuber
Yeeeahhhh, Temu is really sketchy. Both for stealing IP and customer data. Best find a better sponsor.
These aren't even that cheap. Etsy and amazon have better prices for the exact same things. I bet they dont even have the proper license to sell some of these sculpts.
Ninjon, don't advertise for them.
I was going to comment the same. Aside from all the other problematic things, the price on the mini hot glue gun was laughable.
They do. Don't say things you don't know. Lord of the print apparently has a license for TEMU.
@@arcfuryt1843 that's fair. I apologize. However it doesn't change my mind about them being a company worth shilling for.
@@arcfuryt1843 Source?

It's absolutely dishonorable to sell the community like that.

Looked like you had to push pretty hard for no real drilliing progress on that drill, and you could hear the motor bog down. But no "Its great!"
Oof! Thanks for the dive into Temu hobby products. I'll pass and keep my hobby dollars as local as I can, or at least going to small companies that produce quality products and avoid the mountain of problems Temu creates. Look forward to the next video.
Thats the way
What are these locally produced products you are talking about?
I'd rather drive to my closest hobby shop 40 minutes away then order off Temu. Sure it'll be more expensive and my wallet thins even more, but at least I know the money isn't going to dropshippers/unlicensed sellers. Even if you are a beginner or don't have a lot of money, local dollar store supplies can get you far
Feels like half of these things are non-hobby products with hobby uses that could just as easily be gotten from your local dollar store. Though... I can tell the engraving pen is decent. I think I saw you use it in a different video already (or maybe it was someone else?)
Where do you think your local dollar store gets this stuff?
@@toferkrz946but you are keeping local people employed by going there instead of copyright infringing Chinese mail order 🤷🏻♂️
Christ, Jon.
Take it down already.
Thinking this was going to be a genuine video on stuff he actually bought then he drops the affiliate link and you realise it's not genuine and not worth your time to watch.
Really glad they took the words "Army Painter" off of the packaging for the tufts.....
Jon, you regularly work with 3D sculpting companies. The least you could have done is find the original creators and credit them. I know making these videos is a lot of work, but it’s due diligence that had to be done.
Jon doesn’t care about due diligence, all that matters is the $$$
So I don't want to play into any anti-Chinese bias, but given safety standards I would absolutely not taste any of these paints, and I would suggest keeping them off your skin. Some of the pigments used in paints are SUPER toxic, especially in yellows and reds. The ones for sale in the US and Europe go through chemical processes and precautious to make them safe, but even those are a recent development. I'm only 45, and when I was a kid we had to be really careful about not ingesting artist paints. With these direct-to-consumer Chinese manufacturers, safety standards are often lacking.
Can you tell us, do the paints have an ACMI safety seal on them?
I'm always shocked when I see mini painters licking their paintbrushes. Coming from the world of scale modeling, there we all know that you never ingest any of the products used, you use proper ventilation/respirators, gloves, safety glasses, etc. Similarly, you keep food and drink out of your work area. A lot of hobby materials are really dangerous if inhaled or ingested.
@@SO-ym3zs I have to admit in the past I was a brush-licker. I still do it very occasionally. But today's paints, provided you are buying them from reputable stores in the US, are safe. A lot of work has gone in to making something like cadmium yellow harmless to ingest! It's obviously best to avoid, though, and I try never to do it.
I know over the years acrylics have come to use safer pigments and are often tested to be non toxic, but the danger remains when you get in the habit of licking your brush and then forget that you're using, say, an enamel. @@ChristopherKeelty
Must…not…respond to negative comments…might..offend Temu overlords….
"Temu is an actual scam, and employs child labor (this is confirmed) pleas do some research Jon, if youre a sell out and you dont care, then youre a sell out abd you dont care, but seriously this just feels insencere and kinda dystopian, i was hoping one of my hobby-heroes wouldnt fall victim to this :'(" is what I said at first, and realized I was wrong, do ur research guys, I feel dumb
Every chocolate uses child labor, you still eat it, cheap clothes use child labor. It is not good, it is deplorable. But the chines sweat shops still use adults even if it is atrocious working conditions.
Better turn on your phone, shoes, and everything else because those were made with child labor😱 Oh and CZcams is taking your data and Facebook,x, instagram. Nothing is safe and everything is a scam. He is doing what CZcams guys do follow the trend.
The research should probably be done by you. Temu, and its parent company PDD holdings, don’t manufacture anything. They are purchasing and advertising companies. There isn’t any reliable source that backs your assertion. Period. Does Temu and PDD engage in questionable advertising tracking? Yep. Just like Amazon, Google, and countless others. Let’s not make more out of this than there actually is.
@@tommloye4626 Aight sorry, I reacted out of impulse, that's my bad
I can't believe that GW doesnt sell that Pot holder thing for $100 already
They want you to spill and waste your paint to buy new paint. They stopped selling their own paint pot holder that prevented spillage.
@@slambaz2 wtf for real they had a pot holder?
@@Sluggernaut yeah it was this like grey base that would hold your paint pot for you. You can still find them online in some places but not from GW anymore.
@@Sluggernaut My LGS still has a few of those. Maybe they didnt sell well enough for the executive freaks at GW.
"did i get scammed?" no lol, you got paid to do it
Yikes, advertising a scam site while pretending it’s a “review” lost a sub today.
The one problem I find with the pin vices is that they usually come with really crappy dull bits. There was a night and day difference when I swapped them out for actual hardware store carbide bits. It took ages to drill through plastic with those. The carbide go through it like butter.
i use carbide bits at work (machinist) Carbide is designed specifically for harder metals and stuff or atleast they are made to work on metals that have been hardened so they are great for drilling and everything like that
The spatula thing 11:59 we used at school for applying PVA glue on large surfaces for even coverage.
Spreading basing paste 👀
@@DJRockford83 that’s what I’m thinking. Just watched Jon’s Nid kit bash, and something like that would’ve been ideal for spreading basing putty / filler / schlock over his typical cork layers to provide smooth looking transitions. Instead of using a brush to try to apply it.
I hope the sponsor money covers your loss of integrity jon...
still waiting for a response to all the backlash this video has been given. I am all about this channel but i do feel the same about many of the negative comments. It would just be really nice to hear from ninjon and get some sort of response to as of why you'd put up a video like this. Love this channel and i hope we can move on from crappy sponsor videos like this.
Tiny spatula for spreading glue - get them at the dollar store and not have to give your info to Temu and their identity scraping division.
Sad that this kind of content made it onto the hobby scene.
You only just noticed huh?
@@toferkrz946 Guess I'm late to the shit show
Sad choice of sponsor. Your silence on the comments is deafening
I know, right? My popcorn is getting cold while reading the comments and waiting for his response
Ninjon, you’re one of my favorite hobby CZcamsrs and I appreciate your content. However, I hope you consider that Temu has numerous allegations of credit card theft/fraud, as well as accusations of data harvesting from their customers. I certainly don’t want to discourage you from these types of reviews, but I also don’t want hobbyists pointed at what is essentially a data harvesting website for the Chinese Government. Keep up the great work!
you should not support this website/company. you would notice immediately what business model is behind it, just think about the prices and a simple look into their terms and conditions would give away what crooked things are going on there... sad you jump on the squidmar clivkbaid train for good...
Did homie just use panel line scribers as a file??
And you all thought Temu was the shady part of the video 😂
The benefit of shopping local is at least part of your money stays in your local economy and pays your neighbors, whereas by going to the cheapest seller online you just ship all your money to China for free, and get trash in return.
Let us know if any of these products are still usable after six months or a year.
Man, not cool. I would take raid shadow legends sponsorship over Temu content period.
I realy like your channel, but this is selling your fans to some doubious company. Seems to be profitable though this is already the second video (Squidmar was a little faster) in two weeks. Who is next to sell his soul? I know thats the buisiness, but you have a reputation to lose, too.
Ah yes good old chinese scam sites. You couldn't pay me to use temu
There's a lot of irony in this video, but what stands out most to me is that Jon, who casually throws microaggressive comments against the Chinese (see TUP podcast), ended up endorsing the very individuals he mocks. Is this an attempt at metahumor, or did the cost of that elaborate sleeve tattoo force him to finally embrace the golden nipple? What a bummer...
I love your vidros Ninjon, i really do, but I have to say that Temu is not doing your credibility any favors. The amount of other comments talking about their sketchy nature, speaks for itself.
Happy New Year Ninjon!
Unsubbed. Came to your channel for your great painting and cool kitbashing but I'm seeing very little of that these days. People's comments are calling this store a scam.. who knows if that's true, i cbf looking that up but vetting your sponsors is very important. most of it excluding the "hopefully not stolen" 3d prints does look very low quality and i would be very unhappy if i had spend $500 and received so little. I think your strengths are much more in the creative parts of the hobby and i hope to see much more of it in the future, you're a very talented guy. Ill poke my head in again in a few months, happy new years to you and your lot 🎉
Ninjon, funny you showed the angel. I just printed that one myself in the beginning of November. It is from Lord of the Print to which I am a Patreon subscriber. No surprise, Temu is ripping off model makers on Patreon by printing their models and selling one model for more than the cost of a months subscription. What a crime... and it should be. And the Mimic, I think I have that one too from Loot Studios, but I won't swear to it. I havent printed it as yet. So many subscriptions & files, so little time...
Those tufts are literally just Army Painter tufts.
Yea I'm out. Not a fan of the garbage promotion. I mean you do what you gotta do Jon, but I'm not here for this one.
JUST DONT BUY FROM THE OBVIOSLY BAD COMPANY
The chisels are used a lot in stuff like Gundam models for adding extra panel lines or customising panels/creating extra colour separation
That mimic was from Artisan's guild - probably stolen/unlicensed
Have you tried the fine tip nail art brushes? I love them for fine details and can even do eyes with them.
and we've regressed to hobby youtubers shilling for scam websites, it's no wonder i don't hold anything you guys say with a speck of value.
The mini spatula thing could be good for applying a large amount of basing pastes from GW, AK or Vallejo
80s kids using them for PVA glue 👀
Scam
Temu is made with Chinese prison labor is what I heard
I kinda get the "cut out the middle man" idea but I do think it's important to only buy what you know you'll use. This seemed a bit overboard with buying tons of stuff, half of which you didn't know why you bought or seemed like junk.
Jon, I'm sorry but you need to pull this video. You are really losing people buy supporting this scam of a website and then encouraging people to install it on their phone, that is just irresponsible. This company has a reputation for screwing over its sellers.

@@TheDreadGazeebo you can simply start by looking at the details on Wikipedia. It's pretty clear the company doesn't give a crap about anybody. They scam, they have malware, they have been rejected by companies such as Apple because of their bad practices and the list goes on.
