  • THE BEST MID HANDICAP GOLF BALL OF 2020... AND ITS CHEAP!!! When choosing your golf ball its important to think about a number of matters... what's the best golf ball for you? whats the best golf ball for me? whats the longest golf ball you can buy? whats the best mid handicap golf ball? should you use Titleist Pro-V1? Taylormade TP5? What about the cost of golf balls? can these cheap golf balls be as good as the expensive golf balls? surely not? surely a budget golf ball can't perform the same as a premium golf ball? in this video myself and Mid Handicap Mark test out the Taylormade soft response golf ball out on the golf course... lets do it... and lets do it now!

I've loved this ball (TM Soft Response) since i found one in the woods.... I went and got a couple dozen. I love the feel, the distance, the forgiveness of it, and especially the price. Consistently shooting 3-4 strokes under my handicap (13). First even par through 9 with this ball as well.

When Callaway first bought out the truvis design on their chrome soft they were my go to ball...but when they started infusing graphene each ball I tried felt inconsistent.. like I was playing a different ball even though they came out of the same sleeve. I gave others a try and enjoyed most of them but ended up giving chrome soft another shot with the new 2020 line up. What ever they did to fix the problems of prior gen, except the price, it worked. That's not to say I didn't find a good alternative: the Taylormade project a and Titleist velocity are 👍 IMHO.

I have been trying out quite a few different balls the last weeks. I used to play the Titleist Velocity which go around 60-70% of a ProV1/TP5 and never had any complaints. Currently I am playing some Wilson ball, around 12 quid a dozen and can´t really complain. Don't fly as far but a bit more grip around the green and just as solid. Biscally the only ball I really didn't like was the Golf Jet (or Jet Golf) #3. The #4 was ok, about the same price as the Velocity but didn't seem to do any better. Tournaments or events I do play TP5 though...

Ball temp makes a huge difference. What works well in the summer may be completely different with frost on the ground. That's something most testers ignore.
I've also seen quite a few reports on consistency. For instance, last year's Callaway has a lot of reports of being off centre; this year's is much better
90~ish swing speed here. I look for good driver distance, and I like lots of spin on a wedge. But what really sells me is the putter noise/feel.
Last year was a Chromesoft, (matched with a insert face White Hot). This year is the new Chromesoft, the 3 line one, but matched to a metal face old Anser 3.
Second favourite ball in both case - Pro V1x

I'm a 14 handicap right now. Dad taught me how to golf when I was twelve and somewhat self-taught as an adult. Don't play enough to be good but i got tired of shooting 105 one day 95 the next week when I consistently shot in the mid-'80s in my teens. Went and got a few lessons to help fix my swing. I've been trying different golf balls trying to find the one iI like the best in the budget range. I've used the bright green and red balls, and the green is much easier to find in the rough or fairway. Red for some reason I have a hard time seeing. I played a couple rounds with Callaway Supersoft(definitely enjoy them), TaylorMade tour response, and soft response (Didn't notice much difference between these two on the course, liked them both), Titleist Tour Soft(hated them) and just got a box of Vice Pro Plus I plan on playing this week. Was also thinking about trying Snell MTB black soon. Unless i fall in love with Vice or Snell, for me i would say TM Soft Response will be what i start playing every day based on being $22 a dozen VS $35 for the others.

Picked up golf 3 years ago as a way to keep the mind & body occupied in my retirement. I play at least 3 rounds a week, year round as I now live in the the tropics of the Philippines. I'm 62yo, a disabled US Military Veteran and limited in ability to perform proper rotation, weight shifting, etc., so distance isn't ideal, but short game is pretty good. Driver swing speed is a meager 75mph, and a 3 hybrid to reach 150yds. However, what I lack in distance, I more than make up for in accuracy throughout the bag. I currently play to a 12 handicap, mostly due to distance issues on long Par 4's & 5's. I've probably bought and tried most every well known golf that exists, but keep coming back to the Callaway Super Soft. This ball just seems to fit my entire game from tee to green better than anything else I've tried.

I use the Srixon Zxv. I work at a golf course and get them at a reduced cost. I am 10 HC and did play the Srixon Q and did ok with them but was able to buy the Srixon z at the same cost as the Q. I really like the z better because of the feel around the green. The dist off the tee is about the same.

I may have to give these a try because I am looking for a cheaper ball to play through the winter as I see this as my practice months and I probably won't need such a soft, reactive ball on the wet and softer greens. I will also hopefully not get as annoyed when I can't find a good shot hidden by fallen leaves.

James, I was using TP5 and losing too much and realised not a pro so using soft response and as you said just using that ball only & than you know what the ball is going to do on different shots and play from there.

At the moment I play the Callaway chrome soft but could be switching to the bridgestone tour b xs Tiger's ball because when I have hit it it seems to have a straighter roll than any of the big name golf balls I have hit. Shout out to Chris Dennis I focus more on what a ball does on my short game because that's where you save shots.

In order of favorites: 1) Bridgestone 2020 Tiger Ball, 2) Vice Pro+ 3)Kirkland. In order of play: 1) Kirkland 2) Vice 3) Bridgestone....depending on the course and my game that day. Also, my choice of play will vary if I get a chance to warm up before I play my round.

I switched from Chrome Soft to Bridgestone Tour B RX earlier this year. Priced @ $25 (on sale), Bridgestone has great distance, good feel, and enough spin to stop quickly on the greens. Main difference is lower spin when chipping but I prefer to play bump & runs so it suits my game well. 11 handicap
