- Shell's annual shareholder meeting in London has descended into chaos with more than an hour of climate protests delaying the start of the meeting in which the oil company asked investors to reject new targets for carbon emissions cuts.

At one point, security staff rushed to the front of the meeting to shield the board as protesters tried to approach the stage. Scuffles broke out as security removed the protesters.

#Shell #Oil #ClimateChange #ClimateProtests
Ok, this I like to see. Not faffing about blocking trains and roads. Target the disruption at those responsible 👍
The trains and roads are responsible. The disruption is the point of the protest.
@@SkageXL5 And what is your bicycle made out of think on!!
@@Essentially_Nobody It gets reported on the news, spreading the message. Don't dismiss this sort of act, it changes minds!
@@scottpeacock5492 …bamboo.
@@Big_munki Why do you think *I* or anyone other than experts in the field have a "solution"?
We're not saying "Listen to us, we have the solution". we're saying "Listen to the experts, *they* have the solution"
It's fundamental problems in understanding that makes communicating so difficult, but humans are *nothing* if they're not myopic.
These oil companies are directly harming the working class far more than any protest could. Any of you naysayers had a look at your bills recently?
And how much will it cost to charge your fancy Electric car. This isn't just about the cost of Oil, but about redrawing new oil and gas and what will happen if we run out of oil.??
Yeah, my energy bill is 30 pounds a month and that is due to the **absence** of stringent green policies (that make life unaffordable). Greetings from eastern Europe, where we don't have whacktivists 😂
@@scottpeacock5492 Hence why we should switch renewable and other sources of energy on a systemic scale. If running out of oil is your concern then why are you defending oil companies?
@@tsarnicholasii274 How am I supporting oil companies, I was implying to your comments about people energy bills, You climate alarmist will not stop fuel companies drilling oil, we have 47 years of oil left , no way the public is going to give up there fuel vehicles or installate homes. You going to pay for everyone to convert???
@@Essentially_Nobody I'm making excuses to delay the necessary transition, i don't drive unfortunely, You directing at the wrong person, maybe talk to local councils across the UK and the manufactory who are installing and developing charging points, these thing take time and money to install, You are just another youngster who don't understand the way people live, Have you got your Electric car yet??
I’m glad they chose to go after the people in power, rather than standing in the streets blocking traffic. Finally an appropriate setting to get the message across.
Tbh, I don't hate Shell for their oil, I hate then for what they do in the countries where they extract their oil from.
Shell also helps builds schools, and factories & employs people in a lot of those countries where they do far more than what their government is willing to do.
@@monkii5258 a lot of companies do this with their tax money, or it is just an investment to cover their unethical work with ethical programme which is publicized heavily
Refreshing to see people with sensible demand expressing their opinions in the appropriate place.
Shell doesn't care, people care so its inappropriate place as people are really there
@@Markkuroni so instead of kicking the back of powerless people, we should demand the government to change their policy towards these things, and disrupt the big company, so they're knows that people are tired of their shenanigans, but this would only be successful if the "revolutionaries" use their brains.
Finally they at the right place
Whether you're for or against their cause... this is a MUCH BETTER form of protest.
LEAVE the WORKING PEOPLE out of it.
Protests that don't disrupt aren't protests though.
What you want is polite dissension in a room alone somewhere.
@@SkageXL5 working people don’t control oil
@@Essentially_Nobody So we both agree that protestors should work against the companies and governments that contribute this and therefore there is no point in disturbing the working people and wasting everyone’s time.
@Nobody stopping working people getting where they want to go does absolutely nothing but waste more oil. Its pathetic to think they will sit in the middle of the road and let cars sit their engines running... pathetic
@@Essentially_Nobody no government candidate besides Green Party cares. Its time to let go off your delusions, no predominant majority will vote in Green Party
Evil corporations
What evil? Who/what keeps these corporations existing? ALL OF US! We the people of the world are their ultimate customers. Try to scratch the surface even 1 micron!!
Your companies Pension scheme will be investing for your retirement in all these Corporations.
This is the way to protest, not damaging art
No art was damaged
the art they chose was deliberately the most expensive in the gallery so that it would be the least likely to be damaged and would draw the most attention
They never damaged art. Think before you repeat misinformation.
@@thetumans1394 In a lot of “protests” they do. The point is that they didn’t do it here and it’s much better that way.
@@theriddler5601 Name one where they did.
‘Well, that was a successful conference.’
The most evil corporation in the world BUT IN THE LOOSE. they SHOULD be JAILED!!!
And then what, maybe it you alarmist should be locked up. Get some help!!
Excellent
See, this is where protestors need to go. Not in the middle of the road blocking ordinary people from going to work and throwing soup on old paintings.
Finally they go into the right place
Okay, this makes much more sense than blocking roads.
The amount of security they had to hide behind says a lot about how cowardly they are
Agreed! Big fossil fuel are COWARDS.
So your suggesting they let anyone on the stage? Having security doesn’t make you a coward. If that was the case your argument would imply that everyone who has ever hired security is a coward
I would also have security against a crowd that outnumbers me 10 to 1. I guess I’m just smarter and more sensible than you idk.
@@tomfoolery597 Why are you defending pure greed?
@@FB87291Doesn't sound like defending pure greed. Why would a person let others get him, why disempower yourself when you're the boss of a company?
And as for pure greed is a part of everyone, not the very thing we fully make up of ourselves.
I prefer this rather than you guys try to barricade the road, disrupting people's lives. Disrupt the meetings of these greedy oil companies
Actually I think disrupting lives is a far better protest. Its not liked but it works. This is far less effective.
Yes and so should shells shareholders too sheer greed nothing more nothing less .
Cobblers - what's the difference from you moving your cash from one bank to another to get the 'best' interest on your savings and shareholders doing the same in national or international companies?
Just a few years ago during the Pandemic Shell made huge losses, now their shareholders are enjoying better times.
The road ready freddies!
Cringing when they sang hit the road Jack
Assuming these muppets actually have a job, I wonder if they know that their companies Pension Scheme will almost certainly have Shell shares.
What was the protest about? Someone explain to me like i’m 14
this is so satisfying to see those big people looking down while they get called out 😁
Shell, the company that polluted a whole village.
Now that's the way to do it! Leave the public alone ffs
Hmmm, wonder how they they got there?
You don't just interrupt a meeting like that
I wonder if they know that the less cheap energy there is the greater the death rate. An exponentially lot more than the climate problem.
Interesting how the comments here are all positive while the ones on the people protesting Desantis are all negative.
Shell must be quaking in their boots after that display.
Jeepers
all those suits looked mightly foolish
Cringe overload ..
😁😁😁
Every single protester drove to the protest. The end.
And stopped at Shell on the way for some V-Power 😉

Investors should invest in letting Shell International hire directors whom specializing in biology, zoology, marine biology, ecology, forest park rangers and botany specialist to be directors of Shell for onward years 2023.

Brilliant action. Shell's profiteering off the climate crisis is indefensible

The world is basically a sphere in space held by gavational forces . What if the oil and gas we dig out work is a balance system for the planet ? ( just a random thought)
no cause we only find these resources in the crust of the earth whereas gravity is bc of our spinning core at the center of the planet (which we are nowhere near able to reach)
@Jackson Austin-Cruse now take a gyroscope and tale just a small part of 1 side off. See if the gyroscope spins properly or starts wabbling right away .
@@paulpetarson1724 there isnt enough fossil fuels to be major enough to create anything like that
@Jackson Austin-Cruse even a tenth of a gram shaved off 1 side of a gyroscope will throw it out of balance right away. The core spins but it more responsible for the magnict field that protects the plant from harmful sun rays . Like I said just a random thought

The more they do this, the more people really don’t gaf about climate change 💩.
I hope all these climate protests would just stop buying cars and consider walking or bike cycling. This event honestly proves they care about their environment and sell their shares in the Company Shell.
None of the climate protestors I know drive cars. They’re all cyclists. You’re making up something to be mad at.
I hope that the story that you made up so you can dismiss people who aren't wrong makes you feel better about yourself.
It's weird you gotta lie tho.
Systemic change is needed, it's the industrial monopolies who need to take responsibility
We should not put the blame on the people
@@themimeror5242 Systematic change is required due to that apathy of the people. They need to take their share of the blame.

Do any of these climate hysterics live a fossil fuels free lifestyle?
Bit difficult when systematically we rely on oil and gas, it’s impossible to avoid it without going completely off grid, which is a ridiculous expectation
I doubt it
And these protestors go to another place either in their ICE cars or airplanes which use fuel. What a joke.
wow. great point. i bet they even use phones or buy things that are packed in plastic. obviously this completely invalidates their cause. makes me feel better too, because i don't want to have to reconsider my lifestyle. let's attack the way they dress next.
They are living in a system that makes using oil inevitable?? Wow genuine logic boomer 🤡🤡🤡
