It is so cool to find a male cross stitcher who is also a runner. I used to be a marathon runner (12 marathons) and have resumed cross stitching after a 20 year hiatus. Things have changed quite a bit during that period with new technology and techniques. I really like your presentation style, Andrew, and am inspired by your amazing stitching.

Winston is the cutest!! Im so glad you all had a restful getaway. I am with you on the beading- I found I couldn't just sit down for ten minutes and put a few beads in like I can with stitching- I wanted blocks of time for it. Probably all a mental game... 😂. I am absolutely thrilled with how she is stitching up. I find myself constantly drawn to stitch her more ha. Well, I’m behind watching FlossTube. Summer is here and I love it. It’s my favorite season because I love the sun and the beach. New York City sounds like Southern CA in that there are needlpoint shops and shops that sell yarn. Even Michael’s and Hobby Lobby don’t carry very much cross stitch where I live. Lily of the Woods is gorgeous and Saga is amazing. I stitch patterns that are so different than yours and I love what you stitch. Your projects are big and complicated, which at my age I don’t have patience for but it’s always nice to be able to appreciate the larger pieces. I’m stitching patriotic right now. No, I don’t need any more patriotic stitchy pieces but I really enjoy them. When I’m finished with patriotic stitching I’ll move on to summer. I saw that you have another video up so I’ll definitely try and keep up now.
Glad to hear you're enjoying summer! It's a lovely season to be outside and get to the beach. You'll get caught up on Flosstube eventually, but enjoy the weather while you can! Yeah it's a bummer there's not more cross stitch spots in the city. Makes me appreciate an LNS when I can go! I'm so glad you enjoy watching the projects even if they aren't your specific type to stitch! That's the beauty of this hobby that we can all stitch what we love and still appreciate the art :). Hi Andrew. Yr lily of the woods looks fantastic 😍 so stunning. Love the dragons piece. I'm a big fan of dragons. After getting back outside running, I'm now at 5K and really enjoying it, especially since the better weather is here. Signing up for the half marathon has motivated me again. I was stitching on Christmas ornaments. I'm stitching ugly sweaters on perforated paper. They are by stitchnomy on Etsy. I stitch ornaments every year for my friends as part of their gifts.

Lily is beautiful. Your progress is amazing. Great idea to get away to Hunter for the weekend. It’s a great place for winter too. I’m a Queens native, now living upstate. My friends and I went there in the winter for sledding. Enjoy the 10K. Flushing Meadows is a great place for a race. I’m old enough to have attended the 64-65 World’s Fair there. When I’m in town for a Broadway show or to see the Mets I like to include the park. You should check out the Queens Museum there. Happy Stitching!

Awesome update! your fancy lady is beautiful. I am currently working (monogamously~very unlike me)on Celtic banner by Butternut Road. Was barely started when my daughter noticed and fell in love with it. She asked me if she could have it. I said of course. She graduates from HS next week and leaves for university in August. So a project that would probably take me at least a few years im trying to finish before end of summer.🤦🏽♀️ I love your idea for the silk color you found. I grew up in Queens! In RegoPark. Thank you for the video. I have now started the gang. Just to give you information, I have never seen a Teresa wentzler pattern that is simple, so plan on a lot of half stitches and color changes. I have one of her dragon pieces and had thought about sending it or the merry-go-round but have to go find the them in my stash and if I get started on that you would end up with all kinds of patterns I want to lose and not feel guilty about. Five or so years ago, I went through my patterns and got rid of a bucket full. My husband didn't know I sent them off. Your taste changes over the years, so I didn't want to hang on to all of them and just gave them away. I love your work and enjoyment of cross stitch. I have tried and taught many crafts or arts over the years. I found how much I had when my daughter wants to move in for a while and my Armenian rug is in the closet where she needs her things, and it is not small so much son took the legs off of it and leaned it against the back wall. He thinks I can be forced to finish it, but my handicap says not on your life, so he will have to learn and finish the last foot of the hand tied rug. See you next time.

You're definitely right that tastes change and I'm sure some of the collection I've accumulated will not be as much of an interest to me in the future ha. It's just hard when I want to stitch it all and don't have the time! I need to find a balance between adding to my collection and being patient to see if I really want to stitch it ha. Hi, yes beading can be a tad daunting, take a deep breath, slowly out and find the start point and sew. I sometimes indulge in a glass of hot chocolate before I start 😉

A Christmas sampler would look so pretty on that red fabric. Bee Queen is sooo stinking cute. I’m going away in a bit and have decided to start an early Christmas in July start. Now, like you, I suddenly have all these WIPs and charts I definitely want to start right now! Eighteen months ago I was a monogamous stitcher who was never going to be one of those crazy overloaded stitchers. 😆
You're right, a Christmas sampler would be fun on that fabric! Love that you're going to do an early Christmas in July start for your trip. I am glad I did a start on the trip and will remember it each time I stitch the pattern. I feel you with WIPS, I thought I'd never be one of those people either, but here I am ha. I think I'll tone down the starts soon because I am starting to feel my anxiety build again hahaha.
Yeah…I thought I’d tone down the starts, too. Let me know what you find that helps with that! Also, I only use floss drops and what you need is a floss winder. Unfortunately the Etsy shop where I got mine is on vacation but there are two almost at the top of the listings that are ruler shaped with notches. Either one will work and will change your stitching life forever.
I'll let you know if I find a way to tame down the starts haha. Oh cool, let me look at floss winders now! Thank you!

I am going to try the 5, 4, 3 method. This is the first time I have heard of it. Sounds like a lot of fun!!!!! I am working on my first very large HAED and Magwayen from Bella Filipina,, a couple summer pieces from Crocette a Gogo' and my ongoing 6 WIPs. I have those tiny scissors too...in pink of course 😂 They are soooooo sharp...I have definitely stabbed myself with them a few times! Loving all the fabulous progress and especially wow to Lilly of the Woods...she is looking amazing 😍 That's great that you found some brilliant needles and I might just have to try them too! After doing my needle round up I have follow up videos planned on gold needles and also on how long to use a needle for so watch this space!

So many fun projects here! I had never considered doing a portrait of something like pancakes :D Makes me want to find one for one of my favorite breakfasts, scones. And I had to smile at the squirrel! I stitched that one a couple years ago I think. I'm still not sure about the draw I feel towards squirrels and mice, but I seem to have stitched more than a few of them :) The Long Dog SAGA looks amazing. I wish I had room for such a large project, but I think the three SALs I have going is about all the large projects I can handle (including my Fantasy Winter Castle). @@therunnerstitcher I plan to give researching scone patterns a go of it once we return from our trip. And I have little doubt I'll find a new scone to try on the trip :) It is indeed funny what we're drawn to stitch. I've learned to never say never to a type of pattern because I'll never know when one may draw me in. Thank you so much. I took a short break the last month on Fantasy Winter Castle, but hope to pick it back up in July. Maybe I'll turn it into a "Dreaming of Winter in July" SAL as an escape from hot weather. :D At the moment, I'm on page 2 of 8, so still a long way to go, but I am loving it and enjoying the journey.
I have about 5 pairs of those scissors. I love them. Your stitching is beautiful. I'm am working on my first (and only so far) HAED, called Ex Machina, I also am working on my second of four Teresa Wenzler carousel horses, and a a pic of my Grandbabies that I charted through Pic 2 Pat. I also have a couple stamped crosstitch projects and a few knitting projects on the go. 😊

I saw a really cute project. I don't remember where I saw it. It was, I think, the alphabet done in the spooky movies in the privative style, like the letter S was the character Scream. It was so unique and cute and clever and absolutely hilarious. I may not have all those elements exactly right. Let me know if you've heard of this.

Andrew, if you are loving the Teresa Wentzler ladies, I have "Lady of Shalot" in my 'to be destashed' pile. It's the kit version - unopened. I love her, but I'm going to do the HAED version that's a copy of the pre-Raphaelite painting instead. I'd love to send her to you.
Lily is amazing. I have never minded working with metallic flosses - I just use shorter lengths and the 'stab' method, so they won't misbehave as much. That's a good thing, since my new start (Lavender and Lace "Santa of the Forest") has a huge Bishops' Crozier/Staff that is all gold metalic!
And those silks are a FIND. I have had the pleasure of using the Silk and Color threads in several class kits and they are wonderful. They would also be amazing in a Long Dog (if the sale bin had enough same or related colors).

Lily is beautiful you’ve done so much! Hey guess what I did in May? I walked the equivalent of 3 marathons to raise money for NZ Heart Foundation - that’s 126km in 31 days (I actually did 130.7km!) and raised $1074. It worked out I had to do about 4km a day. Not sure how you go with running but man that was tough work for an older chub like me! I did giggle when you said you might try a less intimidating TW first, hun they are all intimidating LOL take care, Nic x

My sister wedding is next year, I should be getting in shape, but here I am trying to see what my cross stitch patterns should I buy next. Haha. Work has been stressful, so I am here trying to relax. Haha😅
I hear you! When my job is stressful, I'm the same way. It's so important to find a way to relax and stitching definitely brings that for us! Getting out for a walk can help too! Either way, happy stitching and hope you find some additional great patterns :)

It really depends, but I'm usually either watching Flosstube or something on Netflix. Occassionally documentaries and I do like that!

Just got the fabric for my 🍓 sal in today from 123 so I'm going to start that over the weekend.

Lily is just amazing. The fabric you chose is just perfect. How long of a strand of krenik do you use and do you knot closeto the needle when using it? Any suggestions? I j I st started a Blackbird, the Funky Chickens from Satsuma Street and a pillow on a Christmas pillow by Puntinipuntini. Tip on those scissors, I first bought at a shop, but then saw they're really cheap on Amazon. I think I'd take your discolored needle and rub it on a cloth and see if that black comes off. Would be a shame if it transfers to your work. Great video as always.
Thank you so much! I'm really happy with how she's turning out. I use a strand of Kreinik that's probably about 8-12 inches? I don't really measure it just eyeball it :). I don't knot the thread at all, but I do make sure everything is pulled all the way through on each stitch if that makes sense. I love those Funky Chickens from Satsuma! Good point on that needle, I need to double check that. Thank you!

I understand your trepidations about bees but know they will not sting you unless you threaten their hive. You probably smelled sweet to him. I had 3 big bumble bees land on my bare leg mind you, and at Dad's coaching to stay still and calm, they all one by one flew away. They don't scare me anymore. I just give them a clear way to escape if they should want to and we get along.
That's very good to know! I'll try that next time. I've been stung too many times when I was a kid by yellow jackets so I still have that fear in me haha. Thanks for the advice!
@@therunnerstitcher Yeah yellow jackets can be a bit more aggressive, better put, they perceive danger faster. Just back away slowly and give them room to escape and stay way clear of the hive. Wasps are our friends. Without them our food would be overrun with pests, thrips, aphids and mealybugs, That's what they like to eat.
Yes we definitely need the bees for sure! It's just my own fear to work on haha :)
