This man, Obasanjo, is a sage. Sadly, the leadership does not listen to him.

I left Nigeria 49 years ago for the U.S., listening to Gen Obasanjo, l was shedding tears and very sad what most Nigerians are going through. I know how much l sacrifice every month to send funds to my friend and her 7yo daughter in Nsukka. Without my assistance, my friend's daughter wouldn't be able to go to school, and they'll starve to death. Everything about Nigeria is sad, and the issues were caused by the Nigerian politicians.

@aluskysystems1129 My friend has multiple degrees. She graduated with a BioChem couple of years ago, and for years, she couldn't find a job. She went back to school, UniNsukka, and just graduated with another degree in pharmacy. Now we have to bribe someone so she can be offered an internship. About a month ago, she told me that she wanted to go into a small business with her sister, raising piglets. So l helped her to buy 6 piglets. She sent me the pictures of the piglets that she's now raising to sell. She'll also start breeding 2 piglets. Hopefully, this will work out for them. My only concern is if anything were to happen to me. My friend and her daughter are going to have a hard time surviving. If she can go through and complete her internship. Then she can open her own Pharmacy. Then l know l have helped a fellow Nigerian. She's Igbo, and l am Urhobo, and l spent my entire childhood in Lagos.

OBJ did a lot of good things when he was president, he is in fact the best president we've had since 1999, but he is also the reason why we are in this mess today because while he did a lot of great things, he not only failed woefully in the most important areas that would have changed this country, but he consciously worked to make things this way. He is the one that started the corruption in the National Assembly with the Ghana must go bags that he used to flood the NA with anytime he wanted something done his way. He is the one that fought to remove Okadigbo as Senate President because he was not a puppet to him. He tried to run for a third term by using sycophants and acting like he had no hand in it. He is the one that started this nonsense that happens today where agencies like EFCC or the police only see something wrong when the person is in the opposition or has fallen out of favour with the government but once you are their friend, sonehow they never have "evidence" then to prosecute the person.. I can go on. The problem is that these things - rule of law, justice and accountability are more important than all the great things he did for the economy because that is the foundation upon which a great country can be built, and he failed woefully there.

These guys have good intentions but their bill is fundamentally flawed. First it is latently built on the premise that no matter how good a leader is, he will be biased against the other regions when office. Secondly, it assumes that when it is the turn of a region, the leader they present is always going to be better than whomever the other region presents. Thirdly it is indirectly suggesting that a leader should focus only on his region when in office.
Guys, Nigeria needs an equitable election process for the people and not a peripherally balanced system of “you chop I chop” for politicians. Fix the electoral system and Let the people choose who they think is the best.

Father what you have said is the exact situation in Nigeria but We don't want the 1999 constitution and should be set aside because it's the main causes of most our problems.Rather true federalism should be put in place with a new people's constitution that's the first thing that should be done immediately please sir.
Presidency should be by merit not by tribe nor religion but by competence, performance and for this to be effective regional government should be deployed and that will impact on the citizens.

Is only mouthy Nigeria will never work. Divide the country to progress. a nation that roatating a presidency is not a nation. A good country doesn't roatate the presidency by voting. If you can't agree to choose one president by honest and hard working is not good. How can you be together if you don't trust each other? It is better you divide. Were tribal is not going to work. Is only a nation ofthesame language culture religion that's what's determined a nation.

Baba OBJ thanks for telling them the truth instead of asking how to end hunger they were asking how to rotate power. Address the burning question of hunger to reach all families in the country. If you don't have a good register of families, work with religious leaders to create a register of vulnerable families and empower homes in Nigeria, hunger will go. This should be your first agenda, after then you can rotate the power...they way you want.

"When we were there, we did our best". Unfortunately, your best was a failure: Mediocre constitution, obstruction to allow real competent people to take charge. As an elder, respect is your due, but your service to Nigeria is actually a disservice. For these set of people that went to seek for rotation of power, instead of upholding standard in governance, they should cover their faces in shame. These are the faces of our problem.

Nigeria is a funny State where those in position to make laws will go to those out of power to help them solve the problems that lawmaking can solve.
And don't tell me it's about influence or lobbying. We must do away with the old order and face the future with our best strategies.

    • @GabbyOkene

@@yabofabian1826 seeking wisdom is welcomed and needed. This is not what it is in this case. Are they seeking wisdom for the 200 million the executive shared to federal legislators or on the 100 million the executive shared to them according to OBJ in the video amid this hunger in the land?
This was not a wisdom seeking move. Those in authority knows exactly what needs to be done. But too selfish to do it.
Have you asked yourself why is it that Nigerian leaders know exactly what needs to be done to fix our problems before they get into office. And they also know the solutions when they leave office. The only time they seem not to know the solutions and go on "wisdom seeking missions" is when they're in office?
