    I made a cross shoulder zipper/pocket purse for hands free when shopping/walking. I'm using my card holder for my little metal credit card holder and some folded money on the other side....made it match the purse as well as made a matching key fob. I also wanted the pocket to have more thickness so I lined it with the lining used in the purse. Made the lining longer and when folded in half it made a cute 1/2" border. So my purse is navy with the maroon trim as well as the card holder....key fob is maroon. Cute and useful set! Great tutorial as usual! Love watching you and your ideas!!!

    When I do items that require hand sewing on a button that could potentially interfere with something underneath, (the pocket for cards), I place a small piece of card stock or card board in the pocket. That way the needle does not go through to the pocket. You can actually hear when the needle 'scrapes' the card board.

    I made a bunch of these, but I had to use my machine to sew all the buttons on first, before assembly. It worked out nice. I made a template for that. I have a broken thumb, so hand sewing I can't do right now. Thank you for your wonderful, easy to understand videos.

    This is such a great quick project. I used this design of the loop and button to close up the nap mats I created for my grandsons. I had to figure that out on my own and it was tough. I would love a tutorial because I think these could be sold and lots of preschoolers would like a cozy mat with attached minky blanket.

    Vanessa, a wonderful tute as always! You have an amazing way of explaining things that makes it crystal clear, step by step, with tricks to avoid possible problems along the way. However, I found that the thin fusible interfacing was a little too thin for my liking, I'll just double it next time. And instead of turning under the pocket edge twice, i just cut the pockets at 5" x 5", folded them in half, topstitched with a pretty stitch across the fold and laid it in as you said. it gives the pocket a tad more body plus faces it. Thanks!

    • @ellenmanson1333
      @ellenmanson1333 Před 9 lety +2

      No pux, but I think the explanation is clear. Another thing I've changed is the closure. Instead of the loop and button I use the velcro dots. Much easier and neater.

    Changing the subject. I just saw a ironing board mitt on sewing with Nancy. It was
    a mitt for your hand with a flat piece on the back of a hand mitt. You iron your item while draping it over your hand. Looks interesting. Could do tut on how to make something like that? You always have such interesting ideas!

    If you use it for credit cards, you should use thermal shield batting because it it has a layer of foil to prevent card readers from getting your card information. That happened to me and they emptied my bank account., I had to close the account and open a new one at my bank.

    • @JennieOlivero
      @JennieOlivero Před 5 lety +1

      Yes you can do it with blue jean material. Just get an interfacing that is not too thick or you can have it without the interfacing since the jeans are pretty stiff. I hope this helps you!
