      A true performance luxury vehicle, including a "practical" performance luxury SUV, should be driver focused, ie no screens. There is no reason why beautiful looking dials, switches and buttons with a sophisticated tactile feel should feel inferior to screens. Screens are for inexpensive vehicles to reduce cost and ease development. Luxury vehicles' wow factor should be the look and feel of a well built Swiss watch, IMHO. The Chiron is a perfect example of a timeless non-screen interior that will never age. This car is an exercise in inexpensive changes to justify an even more inflated price and increase profit margins for the unaware. Sorry Porsche, I'm the true automotive enthusiast and I'm not buying it.

    • @dash-ryan
      @dash-ryan Před rokem +1

      The Cayenne has always been for wannabe's who don't have bullocks to own a true sports car as a second car to a family daily. No Cayenne, even the GT, will ever feel as awesome as any 911 variant. It asks for compromises true enthusiasts are not willing to make. Thank goodness there are so few of us. It makes who we are and what we drive all the more special. Drive by any school yard and a 911 will get more respect than any Cayenne ever will. That's all you need to feel to know you got the best.

    • @dash-ryan
      @dash-ryan Před rokem +1

      Porsche "all-rounder" = waste of money. There are better all-rounders out there. There are also better Porsche's out there. So, to call a Porsche a better all-rounder by definition means your getting a compromised Porsche. Given the ungodly sum they are asking for this vehicle (same as a well loaded 911), is that really what you want from a Porsche? Clearly there are lots who don't mind that ... lots who don't know any better because they've never driven a true Porsche.

      I had a 2023 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid , before trading up to a full-spec Cayenne TGT. The Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid was a GREAT car (which is why I traded up). You will absolutely love it. I never even used the charger cables, because all you have to do when the battery is low is just run the engine for a half day or so and it recharges the battery. Simple and easy !!!!!! It just doesn’t make any sense that straight EVs are being pushed so hard over hybrids, because there are no range/charging issues with hybrids.

    I understand how a luxury SUV may not be so much a step up among SUVs but as an alternative to a luxury sedan. The Cayenne continues to build on its considerable appeal. A couple of quibbles, though: The front end now looks boxier and heavier. I see how it emulates the redesigned - and smaller - Macan but at this scale it looks clunky, like a big lawn mower. Also, the push button engine START is a serious faux pas, full stop. It suggests that even Porsche themselves concede this SUV isn't "a real Porsche."

    • @davidberan9612
      @davidberan9612 Před 10 měsíci +2

      Completely agree on the START button - the same goes for the gear selector. WHY?!!!!! I'm eyeing the Cayenne Coupe but the hybrid option is ridiculously expensive in Europe compared to the States. I'd go for the last year's model but it has half the range in hybrid mode, pff. Opting for Macan might be the smart choice, tho only available next year. And I need a car this year.

    you couldn't be more wrong about having the cruise-control switches on that stalk underneath the steering wheel; it's absolutely horrible, as a multiple-Porsche owner who has constantly found them horrendous on long road trips over the years. No other automaker does that, for good reasons. They belong on the steering wheel, full stop, like virtually every other automaker does it. On the steering wheel, they are illuminated so that you can see them at night. On the stalk, you can't see the controls day or night, and you have to figure it all out when stopped and the car is in park, and then go from memory. There's nothing intuitive about Porsche's controls-on-a-stalk design for activating and using cruise control; it's a huge brain fart in the design team of Porsche.
