    What is Postcolonialism:
    Since I claim to be a postcolonialism scholar, I think it is apt to include a brief description of my field of study. In my view, Postcolonialism ( also written as Post Colonialism or Post-Colonialism) is a dynamic field of literary study that focuses on the history of colonialism and native responses to the colonial policies and life after colonialism formally ends. The field of postcolonialism also offers insights into the literature and culture of the the former European colonies and their struggles after the end of colonialism.

    Thanking you sir for all the information and knowledge you are disseminating. I have a request, could you please make a lecture video on Orientalism as a postcolonial theory with relation to the Colonial or orientalist photography.

      Thank you. I cannot be that specific. There are plenty of videos on the channel on Orientalism and if you read the book, you can very easily apply the insights to photography as well.

    3:39 I guess part of that symbolic capital of the expensive oxen can be transformed into economic capital too, lots of societies would spend lots of money for rights of breeding animals with preferable genetic traits.

    • @masoodraja
      @masoodraja  Před rokem +1

      Thank you. But that necessarily might have not been the reason even though it could be a possibility. The important thing is to have the symbolic claim to owning the best pair of oxen.

    • @NaderNabilart
      @NaderNabilart Před rokem +1

      @@masoodraja Totally agree :) It's only one possibility of many, I'm fascinated by the situations where one type of capital can transform into another.
      Other people must believe the pair of oxen are truly the best pair, the oxen might have measurable traits or just a great mythological story to verify this claim. Owning becomes a synonym to monopoly in this situation. But if we can't convince other people of this, it's just a matter of personal taste/opinion. Other pairs of oxen can claim this "best" title too.

      @masoodraja  Před rokem +1

      @Nader Nabil Yes, the basis of symbolic capital is capital but it’s economism is hidden or, as Bourdieu would say it, misrecognized.

    Greetings sir. Is it true that there are no straightforward differences and similarities between postcolonialism and postmodernism but rather intersecting and diverging trajectories? I'm studying the topic of postmodernism and postcolonialism and I'm confused. Could you also list some literary works in the domain of postmodern postcolonial literature please. Your help is greatly appreciated doctor

    • @masoodraja
      @masoodraja  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you. There are obviously differences between the two: a text can be postmodern without being postcolonial and vice versa. The only way you will know the difference is by reading up on both and then making up your mind. There is no simple yes and no answer. I will see if I can record something specifically on it. In the meantime please watch my videos on Postcolonialism and postmodernism and see what comes through.
