They are a non binary robot, who went past their own form as a servant bot for a grand archivist turning into a badass beast taming, vault hunting, mega badass.

I really hate that Maya died the way she did. She was such a sweetheart in BL3, did you see how eager she was to help Lilith? She put her safety above her own and volunteered to do all the fighting until she got her powers back and they just axed her off because they want Ava in the spotlight for the next game. To rub salt in the wound nobody cared, or showed that they cared, except Zer0 and Ava, of the playable cast Fl4k and Amara were the most comforting to Ava.
When Roland died Lilith was horrified and enraged, in BL3 she's like "Eh. Well, that sucks. Time to move on."
I found myself thinking something similar when it happened in my playthrough. It didn't seem right. When it came time to avenge her, I was only too happy to unload everything I had at the Calypsos. It was glorious.
I mean hearing what Zane had to say would make me feel better about what happened.

However they forgot they needed to make a character likable in the first place.
Part of me agrees with you hunter - but I don't think it would have made much difference. The Calypsos were still on their way to 'harvest' the Rampager. If Ava hadn't been there, it would have just been Maya versus the two of them.
Likewise when they swipe Tannis later in the story. I kept saying "ok, you've done your part, now fall back!" to her. But Tannis' behaviour around Eridian items means she never would have.
I think its Illegal to pick the mean option for Rhys's Moustache if you're zane

Zane talking to Tumorhead and watching as a psycho mask rolled down the stairs made the line for me

Strange how Flack and Zane are the most comforting to Ava considering ones basically a Hitman and the other is a robot

For all the dryness and monotone of Amara's lines, I found her consolation to Ava to be the best suited to the tragedy.

Though I liked Zane's idea and Fl4K's poetry about it, hers was the more touching one. You could hear that she cared.

Though you can tell they were all sincere regardless. They may be some of the greatest badasses in existence but they know what it feels like to lose someone but that it’s important to keep going.
I preferred Zane’s as it could lead to some bonus cutscene set years later with an adult Ava and old man Zane getting plastered and starting a bar fight in Maya’s honor.

Same for Moze. She started out a bit more militaristic and professional. But the joys of vault hunting and crazy allies slowly make her more sarcastic and fun loving... BLOOOD FUED!

FL4K's dialogue to Ava on Sanctuary after Maya's death feels the most genuine to me out of the four for some reason.
I have known people like Zane. Spend the weekend after the funeral with shared friends getting hammered and remembering.
Maya's death was dumb in the first place.

Anybody else notice that the lost staff of Mt Schuler is a reference to one of the objectives you were supposed to do in Claptrap's Secret Stash mission from BL2 before you found the locker? In fact, all the other objectives are also given by Claptrap as other side missions in this game.

Stealthyhunter I think she would be best suited to be the leader because she has had experience working in a team, as opposed to everyone else who mainly work alone.

The reason why I chose Zane personally was how naturally pandoran he was, just how he understands the craziness more than the others. Of course that doesn't make him the most qualified either, but yeah.

9:20 - I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised how Amara is the best at comforting someone else. When I first saw the character trailers i thought she would be "Brick but with powers" but she was a more gentle/calm side to her and you find that out very early in the story. Even if her voice lines are not the funniest (thanks Fl4k and Zane) I enjoyed playing her a lot
