The history of concrete

  • Here I presented a timeline of the invention and the use of concrete. Concrete-like materials were used since 6500 B.C. by the Nabataea traders, but the earliest large-scale users of concrete technology were the ancient Romans. During the Roman Empire, Roman concrete (or opus caementicium) was made from quicklime, pozzolana and an aggregate of pumice.
    Massive improvements began with the 19th century, when Joseph Aspdin invented the modern Portland cement in 1824. In 1849 Joseph Monier invented the reinforced concrete. In 1930, air entraining agents were used for the first time in concrete to resist against damage from freezing and thawing. Last inovations include self-healing concrete and 3d printed concrete.

    concrete was not used to construct great pyramids there are only natural limestone and granite
