    I just wish they had made one side camouflage and the other navy blue or shadow gray.
    That way the hoody could be used to blend into the city and blend into the forest.
    On the other hand the boundaries would look very odd, maybe that made them decide as they did?

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC Před 9 měsíci +1

      That would be cool, however I'm guessing most people would just wear the camo on the outside 😆

      @@MoorlanderEDC Not where I live ( Switzerland). Let's be real, Helikon-Tex gear is for the bushcraft and tactical crowd. Both groups prefer to blend-in in urban settings and disappear in nature.
      Camo is worn by our military, on weekends you see recruits and militiamen on leave wearing army fatigues on many trains ( free public transport while in uniform). Camo is just not 'cool' here!

    Clothing in Mitchell green (vine and leaf) is rare and therefore cool. The Mitchell pattern was used in reversible helmet covers from the late 50s until the early 80s. In Canada, we used them throughout the 60s and the 70s. In the mid-80s we got new covers in the US woodland pattern. But, the cool kids hung on to the Mitchell covers as long as possible. I wore Mitchell in training. On posting to my first battalion, I was issued a new helmet and a brand new woodland cover. I got my hands on a Mitchell cover and wore it until we were issued the Kevlar helmets with CADPAT covers approx 1997 (?).
    I don't think it is necessarily fair to say Mitchell was the direct precursor to the woodland pat. That would be the ERDL cam. Apparantly, it was developed in the late 40s but not really used until Vietnam. It was the cam uniform for special usage until woodland was issued in the early 80s.

Reckon besides some background, a little bit of history of the item just add to the charm of the product, even when it's not meant to be. Why am I feeling that I'm sounding like you..!!! I am surprised you have not tried some of the Ridgeline gear on this channel - I bought a Grizzly bear iii smock - which is decent, wind proof and super warm, and I have one of their waterproof smocks, which is an amazing bit of kit, as I have stood in downpour that was akin to being in a running shower - and totally dry inside, while everyone else around me was soaked. Try them out, they might be up your street.

    Kinda late as always haha, saw the video month back and now it's time to revisit and get some helikon jacket! This one looks great, although the grey one is nice for urban use, but camo one has very interesting pattern which I think wouldn't be too much for city, it is kind of trendy for youth to wear camo things 😂 maybe it will make me look younger haha.
    Anyway I wanted to share my sizing problem with helikon and maybe someone slim would have a solution better than I have. As I am 133 pounds and 5.9 feet it is really hard to fit EU S size or it differs a lot in helikon with different clothes, I saw few XS man sized from them but I wonder if they actually make them for real, the thing is as you mentioned with your size (and I'm jealous cuz you have perfect sizing, golden L,XL you will choose any time) it counts for an additional layer which is important, although too large to wear sole jacket.
    So please if anybody has experience with good fitting helikon S sized jackets comment me, it's really hard in Czechia to get right size and right product for try on store and sending it back all the time is painful for both me and the store.❤

    I've been looking at this jacket for a while, I got the pilgrim and hybrid outback trousers after useing the sfu trousers for years. But I think they should have pit zips for proper ventilation. I was hoping they where going to introduced that in the reversible version.

    Any word from Mil1st when they're going to stock the reversible Swagmans?
    The camo patterns in your Wolfhound work really well in that woodland; the green side is for your summer, with the orange for the autumn, to state the obvious.

      I thought the same when I first got mine. I spent last winter climbing through bracken and pushes all over my woods, when spent a day skirmishing with it in the snow. Still in perfect condition. It's not as tough as a proper soft shell however it's really surprised me. I hope that helps
