3 Kendama EXPERIMENTS...

  • Frank has gotten enough rest. His most recent sacrifices give us 2 methods to create kendama sticky paint at home (1 of which actually works), a recipe for darkness, and a canvas for all of those stickers that you've been slapping on telephone poles and water bottles. The journey from thrift store rescue kendama to freshly dripping kendama icon is reminiscent of the journey from boy to man, which I think happened when I licked that spoon tbh.
    Thanks for hanging out!

    1 week-ish later:
    Experiment 1.1, spray and pray, has its entire lifespan documented in the video.
    Experiment 2, dark bean, is still a winner, and the appearance does not change with play (have not profusely sweat on it tho, but seems locked in), also smells good. Could be cool to do even more rounds for deeper darker results (maybe?)
    Experiment 1.2, secret sauce, has settled in nicely, almost more of a rubbery feel with some of that initial stick wearing away. It does take a heavy beating from play tho, so the marks and scratches on it are very noticeable. Still a very solid result given the playability upgrade with the methods simplicity.
    Experiment 3, sticko mode, is hit or miss. The spine is in great shape, but anything on a curved surface is begging to be set free. The flatter the better in this case, and of course you're safe inside the cups. - every red pom pom before they dissappear probably

    you should try flexseal on a natty tama to see if it makes it stickier. a few coats. ive heard rumors but never tried myself

      Yea the flex seal idea definitely motivated this glue stick paste. I'll have to try the real thing sometime!

    Great video… it’s like science fair meets kendama. I didn’t know hair spray was still a thing. Can we also assume that you are perhaps not a coffee drinker? I love the coffee stain, it gives Frank that rich exotic wood look. I love the Jr Chemist approach to creating sticky coat. I also love Lewis and your engaging grape tricks. I was hyped to see the giant reveal on how to use up those kendama stickers that accumulate in a zip-lock bag somewhere in the distant corner of my hobby room. Looking forward to the next version of using up even more kendama stickers v 2.0. Frank certainly has many interesting stories to tell. It’s a good thing you rescued him from the thrift store. Looking forward to the next chapter of Frank’s Kendama Capers. Ⓜary☕

      Hahaa yea definitely not a coffee drinker😂 I did have another good idea to use up more stickers, slapping them collage style onto a small piece of cardboard or canvas to create a little kendama company art piece. I think it'd look great and it would knock out more than a few of them for sure. Love documenting these experiments so I'm glad you enjoy, and for just a one time payment of 4 dollars you can save a thrift store kendama in need too. But I don't know if you could say that Frank has landed in the ideal home😅

    You should try routing or drilling a hole in the base cup to take a little weight out and for better lunars

    • @mediochrist
      @mediochrist  Před rokem +1

      Yo yes this actually makes sense now that a lunar is actually possible, good call that'll be in the next one for sure😅

    I'm about to try using Thompson's Water seal on a Natty...i know when I did my deck with it,& applied it too thick- it was definitely tacky to the touch,& to walk on for days...i think it may adhere dust,& such, but with a quick wash off(now waterproof) it should restore some of the tack.

    • @Im118ish
      @Im118ish Před rokem +1

      Idk if it would work over any paint,,but on a porous wood surface I know it'll absorb...Frank needs a natty brother løl

    • @mediochrist
      @mediochrist  Před rokem +1

      Oh sweet let me know how your experiment goes! And yea a natty would be the ideal canvas, but you don't get to pick your children😅 I've heard of people rinsing the dust right off of their sticky paint too, might have to test that next! Good luck with the fresh coat🤞🏼

      People have me sold on clear flex-seal spray so I may probably try that 1st on my beat up sweets/sticky paint.

      @@Im118ish oh yep I've heard flex seal too, that's what inspired my glue stick concoction lmao

    I sandpapered my tama from paint, now it looks like wood ball (very cool) but its very slippery, should i mix gluestick with water and cover my tama for non-slipping? Or what can you recommend?

    • @mediochrist
      @mediochrist  Před 7 měsíci

      Hmm I have no guaranteed method but you can do some experiments😅 I have heard that spraying a natty tama with salt water and playing it makes it grippy over time, you could try that!

    • @renamewhy
      @renamewhy Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@mediochrist sooo... i tried glue stick + water method and it helped a little bit, like its still not playable slippery and i have some ideas to do with my tama, hopefully i will not ruin it😅
