  • In this webinar, Dr. Leonid Fridman, Professor of Control at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), focused on the logic of the evolution of sliding mode control. He revisited two main approaches to the first-order sliding mode design, and discuss the second-order discontinuous sliding mode control algorithms and their specific features. Further, Dr. Fridman presented super-twisting algorithm as a first continuous sliding mode controller, and explained the idea of homogeneity-based design of arbitrary order sliding mode controllers. He also demonstrated the advantages of continuous arbitrary order sliding mode controllers and illustrated the properties of the main sliding mode algorithms with videos of various experiments.
