I actually think the Wolfgang has more presence and cut.
The high frequencies and clarity of the EVH sound 'dead' compared to the livelier SSH+ ..
Thanks for listening and commenting! My perception was initially a little down but the Wolfgang PU, but it's grown on me a lot. My ears have noticed a reduction of treble, but it helps when playing complex chords because I think the lower top-end helps to engage some note-to-note clarity. When I first swapped, I wanted to swap right back but decided against that and now it has really grown on me.
@@louiekabu4960 Okay look, I totally get it. I can say that too because I settled on the Steve Vai Gravity Storm pickup in the neck position. BECAUSE .. it too has rolled off highs but it has these juicy mids and works great for Fusion and Jazz. The original Seymour Duncan 59er was icy pick-y in the highs department and the mids were scooped as hell so basically the Gravity Storm reverses these two : fat mids and rolled off highs. Perfect.
@@roba1899 Man, how coincidental, I was just learning about the existence of the new(ish) Dimarzio Steve Vai pickups, I think they were called Dark Mattter 2. What do you rock for your bridge pickup?

Evh wins the clean by far and the Ssh+ takes the distortion
