This feels so nostalgic, like I used to play MK7 practically every day on my 3DS but I haven’t watched any videos on it in years until now
Same, I remember my name being number 1 on maka wuhu because I was the first one to do the glitch on online leaderboards and everyone copied me after lmao. Also had number 3-5 on snes rainbow road

@@khirek5335 yea lmao I remember seeing myself as #1 on Maka wuhu too, thought I was cool until I realized #2 didn't even do the glitch. I assumed the "leaderboard" only counted for the top trials in your area or something like that
@@Naidemoc yeah me and my friends also thought we had world records we were like 11 years old lol. But then we compared our times and realised we were all number 1 on certain tracks with different times lol

Glad to see competitive Mario Kart 7 get some exposure! I've been playing that game for years and always felt like it was by far the most underrated of the recent entries. Of course it has a smaller community and underdeveloped mods as a result but it's still active and has just as much depth and interesting mechanics, so I wish it got the love it deserves.

Not a competitive Mario Kart player, but I've always loved 7. That, Double Dash, and Wii are my personal runner ups behind 8/Deluxe.

This Mario Kart was my Teenage Game. Mario kart DS was my childhood game (sadly never owned a wii) but Mario Kart 7 is so much better than DS. But playing Mario kart DS with friends local as a child was one of the best things. Im so broken that Nintendo doesnt release a new Mario Kart. Im playing MK8 since nearly fcking 8 years Man.... Its insane -.-
Mario Kart always has a special place in my heart, even Im a massive Zelda, Half Life Alyx (the first time I cried in my life because of happiness, this experience is INSANE) and Mario in Generel Fan, (and CoD but thats shit since BO3) Mario Kart is something I hope I can play till Im old. Its sooooo much fun this series.

I think that the “twist” to Mario Kart 9 might be all the characters that were in Mario Kart before will return and maybe the addition of more cross-over Nintendo characters.
My guess for who those characters might be is Captain Falcon, Samus, Sonic (because Mario and Sonic), Kirby, the rabbids, Zelda, and/or Ganondorf. Could be a stretch but I can definitely see one of these characters crossing over.

0:53 I’m glad to know that cutting off the glider when entering the tower is actually faster. I do this in online races, but I wasn’t sure if it was actually helpful or not 😅.
Awesome video Troy! Glad to see you taking a look at all the new shortcuts discovered in Mk7 as of recently! MkWilliam pioneered a lot of stuff involving making RR Glitch faster. I actually helped him a lot in refining the driving around the course enough to edge out Endo's No-Glitch TAS by about .1 or so. Hope to see you do more Mk7 related stuff in the future :)

I hope the twist is an adventure mode like Diddy Kong Racing. A backwards track mode like Mario Kart Tour would be cool too, plus a mission mode like in MKDS
And maybe a built in Custom Track maker if you wanted to race you friends on something fresh(once you get good at the game obviously) or practice mechanics or bring back Double Karts as an extra mode
This is an awesome video Troy! Happy to see the community I call home get some love! To clarify a few things you mentioned in the video, just about every strat you see in the video is done in RTA runs. The exceptions to this are the first Airship Fortress glitch, the Dino Dino Jungle wall ride, the second half of the Mario Circuit 2 wall ride, the big skip on section 1 of Rainbow Road, and the Coconut Mall skip (because it doesn't actually save time). We also don't have proper tool assist tools yet, so it's all just brute force to get these tricks to work.
Yes! I love watching you react and explain the Speedruns or TAS because I don't usually understand what's happening even though I enjoy watching them
I remember an offhand comment in one of your videos about someone pulling off the mushroom gorge gap jump without a glider in Mario Kart 7. The search for that led me into a Mario Kart 7 TAS shortcut rabbit hole which I don't regret entering. Glad you're finally making a video about it, these shortcuts are sick (metaphorically).

“DK Temple” as a name for DK Jungle makes a lot more sense because its main feature is the Golden Temple from DKC Returns
mkds will forever be my favorite but man does seeing these tracks again make me remember how much fun I had playing this game
I used to watch MK7 glitch/shortcut compilations back then, it was so cool finding out shortcuts like on Wuhu Loop and Maka Wuhu but all of these blew my mind, especially the DK Jungle shortcut.

MK7 is still my personal favorite Mario Kart, and the one I spent a lot of hours time trialing on. I never was in WR contention but I managed to beat ex WRs on a few tracks by the time I stopped playing the game. I do like coming back now and again to check up on the TT scene, glad to see you giving it some coverage.
Maybe the drill mechanic they thought about using in MK8 but scrapped for anti-gravity is the twist for the new Mario Kart

I played mario kart 7 recently and I forgot how much fun it was. I really enjoyed this video and I hope u do more of these! oh and btw I thought if woud be cool if u made this a mini series and do every mario kart, or u can just do a select few. I recommend that you do mkds or mksc/mario kart short cut :) (and maybe mk64 aswell)
The new Mario Kart's twist is that a $40 Pro Drifting License dlc is required to be able to obtain mini turbos

Btw the Maple Treeway turn skip you were wondering about, people usually do it online ( in lounge wars rather) with mushrooms. It's much too difficult to do shroomless with the online combo

Maple treeway shortcut is crazy
As much as I like maple treeway as a track and don't believe that skipped section is boring, it's really cool to see clips and shenanigans like that

What a surprise. I wasn’t expecting MK7 content today but I like this idea.
Btw, every single MK always has a new twist but I do hope the leaker actually means an actual big twist.
First of all, I want the score system from Tour to be an extra mode. Because the Tour idea is cool just that…well it’s Tour.
Speaking of shortcuts, I want the next MK game to be focused on shortcuts. We know there are off-road shortcuts and trick shortcuts, but what about item-specific ones? No, not just from power items.
So what if they add the mini mushroom from the New Super Mario Bros series so you can use it exclusively to do shortcuts kinda like you use the tiny pipes in NSMB. Or use it to run on water. What if the mega mushroom can be the only one that can break big bricks? What if you can use the propeller mushroom to activate a glider out of nowhere? It would open so many unintended shortcuts opportunities that were lacking in MK8.
Of course the devs will have to make sure it’s not all broken but the idea is there. A crazy idea for sure
I would love to see you react to various MK videos, speedruns etc from all Mario Kart games. It could be a once or twice a month series

Hey Troy, I noticed you forgot the new Bowser castle 1 shortcut! You should go look at it. It was discovered about 3 years ago but it's much different than the traditional runs. Bowser castle 1 TAS looks insane now!

Who else thinks Mario Kart 7 is underrated? It had a fantastic retro track selection, and it provided more Mario Kart content for handheld enthusiasts pre-Switch.

This is kind of like the lost MK game to me. Never played it, haven't seen much content for it. Would definitely enjoy more react content. Ideas could include 'history of' videos made by others whether for MK games or other kart racers (e.g. Crash team racing). Or reacts to just some time trials/TAS from other games would be great too. I think the floundering fish has us covered on the MKWii time trial front at least.

I remember when, back in Mario Kart DS, DK Pass had the secret item box, and it didn't matter if you were in first place, last place, or doing a time trial, you could get some mushrooms or even a star lol. I don't know if that was intended by the devs, but it was pretty fun to use.
It would be cool when the new twist is maybe a character change after every lap. This would be so cool because there are earlier games where this exists and for me it was a lot of fun.

I am amazed that people are still finding some amazing shortcuts in Mario Kart 7! It has been years since I last picked up Mario Kart 7, but glad to see there is still a community of Mario Kart 7 enthusiasts. I'm guessing some people will probably even discover new shortcuts in Mario Kart 8/Deluxe long after Mario Kart 9 is eventually released.

I found the GBA Bowser's Castle glitch to be satisfying.
I've only used a couple of early-discovered shortcuts myself, and nowhere near some of the more glitchy ones discovered later. Still, I am proud that I managed to beat all the Expert Staff Ghosts using only Luigi when I was playing this iteration of Mario Kart.

I think they will bring back double dash as a game mode and that you can flip upside down in your cart. So there are 2 ways to play the track. One normally and one upside down. And you can switch between the 2
the twist for the new mario kart game will be adding the new funky mode
