I find I enjoy the SMM1 videos more than the SMM2 videos becauseit feels like there's a goal, what with there being 6 levels. It also feels more cohesive and like there's more variety and more challenge.

I also really enjoy viewing Mario Maker 1 videos over its successor. All that stinky cheese like over the spikes on top of the level, the ancient very predictable troll meta, the overlay pipes... And the simplicity. The endless runs have become stale to me, but 100 man never gets old! Keep it up!!

i dont think you can download and edit level in mario maker 2 to check for dev shenanigans. i think you can only download the levels to be able to play them offline
Watching people dissect Mario maker one episodes in the editor was what got me watching mm videos in the first place, i wish it was there in literally ever mm2 video ive ever watched.

I like SMM1 more as well, for two key reasons. The first is really just for my own purposes - I make music levels almost exclusively, and they're actually easier to make, less obstacles to get around, in SMM1. Second, you could download levels to view in SMM1, letting you get around stupid dev paths/blocks. (One reason they took that away in SMM2 was to stop plagiarized levels. Understandable. However, I've personally had my levels plagiarized two times that I was made aware of. I reported them both to Nintendo, and they were both removed. Simple. And for other possible instances that I didn't find out about? Well, if I never find out, then I also don't really care.) And then other fun stuff, like all the mystery shroom costumes.
I am very happy that you returned to making more SMM1 100 man. The runs in SMM2 have, as you yourself called it, no sense of achievement, no goal in sight. In SMM2 you will never be able to achieve such suspense as you did in your perfect run some videos ago. Keep it up and have a nice day :)
I prefer MM1 because it is so much more random. In MM2 I sometimes find myself getting bored but never in MM1. Is there someway to find unclear levels and attempt to do them all? I think that would be awesome

I personally prefer mario maker 1 when it comes to watching the game, I havent played either one of them, but the 100 lives expert/super expert feels way more enjoyable than the infinite runs in SMM2, kinda sad that they didnt add the normal 100 lives into that game, also the glitches/tech in SMM1 seem more fun

Watching Ryu play SMM1 is WAY better than watching him play SMM2. The simplicity of levels, the crudeness, the cheese-ableness, the abundance of bad levels w/o a “boo” button - it all delivers a much more enjoyable experience. And that matters because, after all, Ryu is all about fun gameplay. Like, CarlSagan42 is about troll levels, and those are way better on SMM2. But Ryu? It’s all about the gameplay, and the SMM1 gameplay is just more fun. Plus the 100-Mario challenge and costumes raise things up several notches as well. All that to say, I’m glad he’s enjoying his return to SMM1 because I certainly am.

I have been watching your videos for about 3 or 4 years now, I have really enjoyed watching your no skip series for 100 mario, I would say I enjoy 100 mario a lot more then endless, although having the extra content from mario maker 2 is still fun to watch, but I don't really enjoy endless as much just because the only goal is to get the furthest you can. mario maker 1 is just a classic, and no matter which game you play, its still a lot of fun to watch. love your videos, and keep it up!

Right? It's hard to pin point exactly at the difference that makes it better, but not including 100 man in MM2 was.... So... Stupid. No one likes playing without a goal or clear "win". Why not give the option between that and endless, at the very least? Nintendo sometimes feels so disconnected to the players.
MM1 makes for better storylines with 100 Mario. But I disagree that the simplicity makes it superior. I do think the extra content and extra years of practice gives an advantage to MM2 levels.
i still haven't decided which game i like more but I can say that 100 man is better than endless. if a mario maker 3 happens both modes should exist... actually custom modes should be included. starting lives, number of levels, skip or no skip, maybe even earn skip. it all should be customizable. point is mm2 needs a mode where you can actually win

It would be so easy to add 100MM in to SMM2, I don't even know what the argument against adding it in at this point would be? Mario Maker 1 is way better in my opinion because smm2 has the concept of quantity over quality with it’s level editing system. Most of the items in mario maker 2 can be recreated in the first game, or they’re too obscure to be used often. For example the koopalings were added, but I find it hard to be creative with them because they already have their own unique moveset. Bowser Jr. and Bowser are all you need for a good boss fight. Before Mario Maker 2’s release Ceave Gaming made a video recreating some of the course parts that we would eventually see in the sequel, there were also a whole lot of other inventions that he would create and it made the game and it’s community feel more alive. That’s sadly absent from Mario Maker 2 since we have all the course parts that just do it for you. I think it may be because Nintendo patched a lot of things such as Randomizers and Stacked pipes (which is just silly they got rid of this). They even removed kaizo tricks like spinning with items in Mario World and the dreadful midair. This doesn’t mean I hate Mario Maker 2 though, endless is a reason to switch between the two and it also removed that feature where if you upload a level and it doesn’t get attention Nintendo deletes it. Thank god Nintendo got rid of that because I lost some good work to that feature.

You should try to do some kind of crazy series where you try to beat hundred man with EVERY power up you can. So Mario has to greet peach in a helicopter outfit, leaf powerup, shelmets, ect
From a viewing perspective the games are fairly similar. Watching a level in SMM2 isnt much different from watching a level in SMM1. Something i do prefer about SMM2 is the Endless mode. Always exciting when you have good runs. Sometimes you get down to 6 lives in 3 levels and still manage to complete 11 levels total with some insane clutch. While in SMM1 if you have a good run its like "Sure you completed 6 levels in 4 lives, but who really cares - its still 6 levels". So i would give my vote SMM2 simply for the content.

I honestly don’t watch your Mario maker 2 videos. I love how simple Mario maker 1 is, just the level designs in general just feel more enjoyable to watch for some reason.

The hot garbage in SMM1 feels more fun and seems to allow for more cheese. The hot garbage in SMM2 is quite obnoxious with the added options such as dark levels, upside down and so forth. While the added content allows for more intricate good levels, it also allows for worse bad levels. And since most levels you get on a run are bad because of the way they're selected for super expert and now you only have 30 lives to deal with them and no goal... SMM1 runs are better. I love watching the 100 man challenge but I also enjoy watching you play good SMM2 levels.

I like MM2 better, actually! I love the potential for infinitely long runs!! I like that 6 isn’t the last level and I love Ryuvenge! No way to go wrong with Ryu though, awesome content no matter what
I find MM1 better for funnier troll, hot garbage and kaizo levels but I like the amount creativity that can go into MM2 levels more with the newer features like Link and SMB2 costume and the Koopa kids.

I’ve long felt that Maker 1 is the superior game. Maker 2 has more stuff, but they also took away a bunch of stuff that really damages the experience. I’m with you on this Ryu, team Maker 1 all the way.

I disagree with people who say SMM1 is better. SMM2 is more balanced and has generally funnier levels, less glitches and more entertaining stuff. The reason for this is because Ryu is more challenged by the levels, difficultly is clearly better on SMM2 which makes it more interesting.
I never bothered buying a switch or mm2 so i definitely like this one more :) still waiting for ryu to find one of my levels in super expert gotta happen at some point

I'm in agreement that SMM1 is more enjoyable than SMM2. I think that 100 Man Challenge makes a world of difference. Also, the spike hit boxes are more forgiving.
MM1 "Feels better" because it lays out a beginning and an end. MM2 is actually better (even with dark levels) because you have more content, more variations of content, and no "kicky feet" problem. MM2 doesn't feel right because it gives you a beginning seemingly without an end where the end is your ability to retain lives and should you lose all your lives that run ends. There's actually more "risk factor" the more levels you've managed to complete consecutively.

They could make levels that are downloaded read only, you can edit them, but you can't save them, nor reupload them.
I cant decide whether I like 1 or 2 more but I am very happy to watch you play MM1 as you seem happier and more invested.

I honestly don’t watch your Mario maker 2 videos. I love how simple Mario maker 1 is, just the level designs in general just feel more enjoyable to watch for some reason.

I 100% enjoy SMM1 content better, that's my personal preference. 100 man especially, because there's a goal at the end it's always quite pleasing to watch.

I mean...SMM1 has costumes, 100 man challenge *that has a ending* SMM2 has....endless mode, multiplayer mode, and a boo system, which I like, btw.
I really like the costumes, so I'd say MM1 is my preferred MM game

The hot garbage in SMM1 feels more fun and seems to allow for more cheese. The hot garbage in SMM2 is quite obnoxious with the added options such as dark levels, upside down and so forth.
While the added content allows for more intricate good levels, it also allows for worse bad levels. And since most levels you get on a run are bad because of the way they're selected for super expert and now you only have 30 lives to deal with them and no goal... SMM1 runs are better.
I love watching the 100 man challenge but I also enjoy watching you play good SMM2 levels.
okay but in your mario maker 2 VS videos (3 or 4 only) you were laughing way more than mm1 videos. putting them in the top 10 most enjoyable mario Ryukahr videos.

I like MM2 better, actually! I love the potential for infinitely long runs!! I like that 6 isn’t the last level and I love Ryuvenge! No way to go wrong with Ryu though, awesome content no matter what

I find MM1 better for funnier troll, hot garbage and kaizo levels but I like the amount creativity that can go into MM2 levels more with the newer features like Link and SMB2 costume and the Koopa kids.

I’ve long felt that Maker 1 is the superior game. Maker 2 has more stuff, but they also took away a bunch of stuff that really damages the experience. I’m with you on this Ryu, team Maker 1 all the way.

I disagree with people who say SMM1 is better. SMM2 is more balanced and has generally funnier levels, less glitches and more entertaining stuff. The reason for this is because Ryu is more challenged by the levels, difficultly is clearly better on SMM2 which makes it more interesting.
I never bothered buying a switch or mm2 so i definitely like this one more :) still waiting for ryu to find one of my levels in super expert gotta happen at some point

I'm in agreement that SMM1 is more enjoyable than SMM2. I think that 100 Man Challenge makes a world of difference. Also, the spike hit boxes are more forgiving.
MM1 "Feels better" because it lays out a beginning and an end. MM2 is actually better (even with dark levels) because you have more content, more variations of content, and no "kicky feet" problem. MM2 doesn't feel right because it gives you a beginning seemingly without an end where the end is your ability to retain lives and should you lose all your lives that run ends. There's actually more "risk factor" the more levels you've managed to complete consecutively.
