The very first global conflict to span multiple continents and oceans, World War I kicked off in July 1914 and ended in November 1918. Territory was lost and gained, empires crumbled and millions sacrificed their lives to fight for their countries. Read more about World War I 👉 www.sabaton.net/historical-facts/world-war-i-begins/

It is, I remember like 15 to 20ish years back you'd still see WW2 on the media and video games and movies everywhere in comparison to WW1. It was talked so much it actually became kinda boring. I had to find a book to find something to learn about the WW1 other than the basics. It wasn't until relatively lately that WW1 was getting some attention.
I guess that since it was barely over 20 years between the two world wars, and that period wasn't during the age of information and people never really got to process it, until mass media in the 00s made is kinda bored of hearing about WW2 constantly and people wanted to learn more about WW1.

The Soviets suffered the most horrific defeats in military history, yet they never gave up and ended up victorious. Calibet Zeal But that part of the treaty wouldn’t exist though. The war was at a complete standstill, roll the dice and you had a 50/50 chance of either side winning. America joined the Entente and tipped the scales hard, if America joined the Central Powers? I honestly doubt that America would be interested in allowing that to happen, same for Germany, they were tired of carrying the Central Powers, Austria-Hungary maybe but I doubt the Ottomans would want anything like that in the treaty either considering they had their asses handed to them hard by the Russians and British. Bulgaria probably but they just want to be bigger. Basically not happening in that alternate universe. Basically in a Central Power victory, at a treaty where the terms are essentially dictated America and Germany, the others are forced to shut up and go along with not making the Entente starve.
Edit: Really pushing your bullshit eh, me from a year ago. Holy shit if only you realized how much of a dumbass you were.

    Passchendaele, 2nd Nov 1917
A man stood in his trench, knee deep in mud thickened by the earth shattering anger of the artillery trying to dig him out.
He looks around him at the men he fought alongside each day. Each of them had the face of death, their spirits having been broken months ago. The shadows and mud covering their faces gave them the appearances of the very same corpses they fought over each time a charge was ordered.
He checked his rifle, making sure it was fit to tear another man's life from his body, and his bayonet, still bloodied from the last man its razor edge had sliced through like paper.
He gazes over the trench edge, tempting the ever present gaze of a sniper to see what yet awaited him. His eye was met with hell on earth. decomposed body's half swallowed back into the earth, still lying the way they fell. Barbed wire with its thousands of metal teeth suspending the body's of all. A singular tree, its bark burnt and its roots bloodied. And clouds of gas smothering and choking the very heavens themselves, before settling in the craters born of the pounding artillery.
He wondered were the bodies of his friends, his brothers in arms, laid. He wondered what fate had awaited them when they had breathed their last breath. But he held no resentment for the men who had fought them back, no. He held resentment for the generals who had hidden in their bunkers and marched them to their deaths.
The shrill sound of impending doom cut through the silence and the living corpses around him gathered at the trench edge. A captain marched down, forgoing the rousing speech, knowing his men no longer even heard his words, let alone cared for them.
He thought once more of his fallen brothers, and his family back home. And finally the order was given and the mad scramble over the edge began. Immediately he heard the bloodthirsty chatter of the enemies weapons bearing down on them, more men falling into the mud around him.
And once more, he marched into the gaping maw of death, with his rifle in his hands and an order to fulfil

Following the Cold War mini series and introducing a new cast of characters, I’m curious how the plot will play out, unless they somehow manage to cancel production. And damn the new arc in the last season of the mini series is looking like a rough one.

Ww2 started. Because of the German army taking over Poland. A country France and Britain promised to help if attacked. Then Germany attacked Austria and Hungary forcing Italy to join the axis(I think) then Japan joined the axis as well. Japan attacked Pearl Harbour. Forcing USA to join the war. As the great naval war is ongoing. Germany attacked Russia. Then Germany launched an attack on Moscow “Operation Barbarossa” then the bombing raids were so brutal it wiped out luftwaffe. Then The Wehrmacht was also wiped out by tanks and infantry. The great Bismarck has fallen then France and the others launched an attack to Germany. USA launched Operation Overlord. Dday effectively wiping out Nazi germany

      About the Naval war:
Japan wanted to attack Midway. So they sent 4 carriers and 3 destroyers and 1 Battleship and 2 cruisers to destroy midway. But USA did not accept it. Akagi Kaga and Suryu I think was destroyed. Leaving only Hiryu to destroy Midway, Hiryu launched 14 dive bombers to destroy Midway, Wildcats and Buffalos were sent to destroy, and 1 Zero was destroyed. No bomber casualties. And then it was USAs turn to launch carriers, 3 were sent. Enterprise or Lexington was destroyed but luckily it got repaired, after that Enterprise or Lexington was sent again. Japanese Admiral Yamamoto ordered Hiryu to destroy it with 6 dive bombers. 4 wildcats were sent. Then US dive bombers were sent. Hiryu destroyed.

By 1939 Germany sent an ultimatum to Poland. Danzig or war. War ensured, and Germany invaded Poland. The Soviet Union then invaded from the east in accordance with the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact.
In 1940 Germany invaded Denmark and Norway, and then the Benelux and France. The British troops managed to escape in a rather good shape from Dunkirk.
1941, the Germans invaded Yugoslavia and then the Soviet Union. Japan attacks Pearl Harbour, to which America declares war on them. Germany declares war on the US.

I agree with so many people I've heard; WW2 was a war that had to be fought, the Nazis were an existential threat to the rest of the world and although millions died their atrocities are all that lives on. WW1 was a pointless war, initiated by the growing pains of globalism and just the result of utter incompetence, corruption and greed on all sides. The young men on all sides and the civilians who lived and died around them deserve to be remembered and their stories deserve to be told.

Thousands of feet march to the beat
It's an army on the march
    Long way, from home
Paying the price in young men's lives
Thousands of feet march to the beat
    It's an army in despair
    Knee-deep in mud
Stuck in a trench with no way out

Everyone talks about how great World War 2 is, but the Great War had an ace Prussian pilot, an incident where Russian soldiers were gassed and kept fighting, and another one where both sides decided to take a break from fighting and played soccer.

I know this will get buried, but here my take on why this song message is tragic.
Pay attention on how at the beginning the "soldier" who's point ov view we see blames others, the higher ups, the politicians etc. not directly but the message is clear.
Then we have the mourning part, soldier is trying to understand and comprehend the whole situation. But he cant.
When Captain orders the charge, he "snaps", narration changes. There is duty, worthy sacrifice and serving the country, heroes rise. There is no more thinking of the purpose of war, there is just war as it is. When he said at the beginning that the promised glory was a lie, there is no more of that. He fell in line like everyone else, he fell to the "Glory" narration indicated by "heroes rise".
And the most tragic part is, that "soldier" says that we will "write our own history". But he doesn't know yet that he and most of his generation are turning, or already turned into the same people that "lied" to them at the beginning.
War to end all war, no encore. But, they will do the same. for their children, sooner or later. Maybe he doesnt know that, but because of what happened during the Great War and its aftermath, the pieces are already in place for the next round. And his generation will be blamed the same as the generation he is blaming in the beginning. Remember that Hitler didnt came out of nowhere. He was the same man, from same generation, as our soldier who sings.
    And THATS tragic.

My Great Great Uncle died in the Canadian Army in the final days of the Battle of Passchendaele. He was wounded on November 6th and he died of his wounds on November 9th at the Allied hospital at Boulogne France on November 9th.
Also when I was sixteen I had a dream that I was sure was the final moments of a past life where I was a soldier in the French Army in WW1 and I died reaching the German trench in an attack. Me and my comrades were wearing the light blue helmets and trench coats that the French wore in WW1 and we were speaking in a language that this version of me understood but I didn't (I'm an Anglophone Canadian).

I've had visions of WWI and WWII.
I'm an American so imagine how disturbed I was when I was about 15 and I woke with a jolt screaming "-th to the nazi invader" after dreaming of a soviet assault on a machinegun position the germans had set up and waking up after taking a shot to the head mid battlecry; scared the daylights out of my grandmother let me tell you.
The WWI *NIGHTMARE* was in some god's forsaken mudpit of a trench in a can only think was either a canadian or british position going over the top and getting fragged by an artillery shell, I broke my leg in football in my freshman year and my right leg had a divot smacked out of it so when I woke up with a jolt I felt the pain crawling in my legs; I didn't sleep for 2 days straight it impacted me that much.
~As to the men that lived and experienced it for real, I can only imagine how painful they felt the rest of their lives and how psychologically broken they became.
