    I live in Australia, I picked up a Lux-Pro LP1100 while I was in Louisiana I bought it at Lowes. I love it, I use it at work, I use it at home, it lives mostly in my work backpack. We get "free" D cell batteries so I have an endless supply for it. It's rugged and tough, I have a mix of flashlights from my Olight H25 headlamp to the Lux-Pro LP1100 to 4 smaller LED lights and one railway tri colour light (red, green and white). I use them when switching cars and fault finding especially on the freight cars. They are great in private sidings when flood lighting is limited.

    I got one for $7 around Christmas and I'm really thrilled with it, it actually separates itself from the run of the mill ones everyone sees at Kmart and target. I'm going to get the one next brightest one they sell.

    Quick note for you guys that like the big LP490, luxpro is now making the 490 in a 480 lumen version. You can still find the old 650 lumen ones in stores but not on their website.

    • @Elhardt
      @Elhardt Před 8 lety

      Back about a year and a half ago when I bought a number of different Luxpro flashlights, I don't remember any of their C or D sized flashlights going above 480 lumens. At that time they came out with a the new LP1200 that did 600 lumens (different design with tail cap switch and runs on 6 AA's), so I bought one. Thought the LP1200 was the brightest they ever made. That version of the LP1200 has already been discontinued and now replaced with a new version still called the LP1200 that is 650 lumens and has a side switch. Was just in Lowes and they have them for $30. So that's the model to get now if you want 650 lumens.

    • @PilotPatriot
      @PilotPatriot  Před 8 lety

      +Elhardt Yep! Luxpro seems to change up things alot. But you are right ,. the LP1200 is the new 650 lumen and the new 490 is now 480 lumen. I just ended up with the older version of the 490.
      Thanks for the info

    I love my XP910 and like the design where i can twist to the selected setting instead of go through each setting one by one. I wish it came with a sheath in addition to the clip. Keep losing it on my belt or in a pocket. May have one laying around from my pocket utensils that might work. I like the rubberised handle which works well in any environment. However there is one imperfection that is not included in the warnings. Do not leave it seal inside a hot car for any length of time as my XP910's battery endured 90° Temps but the circuitry iis irreversably fried. It is what it is and we live and learn. But it is still a great torch in my tool kit. And just purchased another one. Having an extra recharchable battery on hand now is real handy. It also comes with a charger compatable with USB car chargers and wall outlet plugs.

    I have Luxpro lights and high end lights. What I can say is my high end ones are significantly better in every way but the Luxpros are a good deal. There are better lights for just as much though. Also, don't leave the brighter Luxpro lights on high for too long. One of the many things Luxpro doesn't have is overheating protection. My LP290 stopped working because it cooked itself to death. They are a good value, but they are not high end.

    You actually convinced me to go out and get a $100 flashlight. I never thought of it before but if my dog gets out and I need a flashlight to find him, I don't want some $30 600 lumen piece of crap. I want friggin 5000 lumens. My dog is that important.

    • @PilotPatriot
      @PilotPatriot  Před 8 lety +3

      lol, I only meant that it is capable of being used as a search light. Obviously a light specifically designed to be a spotlight would work better. The long 600 lumen light is just ment to be a powerful truck light that can be used as a defensive item as well as being much more powerful than the average flashlight. If you want a spotlight...get a spotlight, not a flashlight.

      The Emisar D4 is tiny and 5,000 lumens for 58 dollars. A cheAper version is 40 dollars and 3,500-4000 lumens.
      Spotlights pale in comparison to some LED flashlights. Your spotlight is less than 250,000 candela, my LED flashlight is 650,000 candela, more intensity than a 10mw laser.
      I wouldn't recommend these if you want critical illumination.

    These are really good flashlights. Luxpro is a good brand. I shut down my co workers and the their streamlite. They get embarassed to turn theirs on when I'm around. I have a LUXPRO XP915 1600 lumens. Very bright. I keep telling co workers about mine. They thought is was a streamlite. But they all want to be like everyone else. I try to be far from the same. 160 streamlite compared to my 50 dollar Luxpro. My luxpro re-defines the meaning "let there be light" when I turn it on. I had to deal with a lot of talking down on my flashlight cause it wasn't a streamlite. I didn't care. When I started throwing that light on, people noticed and mouths started getting quiet. Funny thing is how quick someone turns their flashlight off when mine goes on. Can't see anything from the 200 dollar streamlite. Had mine a year and has not failed me at all. Rarely needs charging. I ordered mine from amazon. Don't know how the ones from lowes work. FYI, don't ever turn your flashlight on behind someone standing in front of an electrical panel. I had someone bout have a heart attack cause they thought an arch flash was happening. It is bright.

    People in the comments talking about over 1,000 Lumen flashlights. Unless you paid over $100, I doubt you're walking around with that much light. Claims you see online for companies like ultrafire lie, their 18650 cell mAh claims are fake too.
    I was fortunate enough to pick up a lux pro LP490 for around $8 and I haven't seen a flashlight this bright in a long time. 650 Lumens is quite something. I hope the flashlight lasts, but I just bought it
