    make sure to take PAR measurements 1) with the flow off 2) with the proper immersion coefficient for your particular PAR meter and 3) to reports the values in the proper PAR units of micromols. This light undoubtedly does great on day one, right out of the box, but the real tale of the tape will be how bright it remains after one or two years of use.

      I agree a long term review is something I plan too do on these lights.

      I have been using the Pro II for almost 11 months now. I don't have any "difficult" SPS corals but I can say that my corals all love the light. I have digis, stylos, montis, and favias that have all shown significant growth over the last few months. Unfortunately I didn't test par when I installed the light at the beginning of this year so I don't have a baseline to compare it with. I'm running 100% on the blue channels and 35% white in the evening for "viewing pleasure" over a 70 gallon tall. Everything looks illuminated and the colors pop!

    I have the k7 11 and love them. I am putting together a new tank and would like to buy these if the wattage were lower like the previous model. I like the look of having them spaced apart rather than having fewer lights with stronger wattage. Maybe If i were an sps person but I am a lps/softies kind of gal! I have a few lower wattage sps like branching cyphastrea, turbinaria and montipora!

    Thanks for taking the time to show how the lights operate and how to use controller. I would be interested in seeing what par you get and if it matches description provided by Noopsyche.

      I have these lights, I did not do a par recording video. I used a seneye 4.0.8 hub, compared readings with another user ook readings with a Apogee Quantum Flux MQ-200. Readings were very close. Her measurement 9.5 inches from light - surface reading @80% was 550. My lights are 8" above water @95% the surface was 1100. @9.5 inches away is where numbers lined up. Mine @80% read 595 below lens. 650 between the lenses. 26" below 240.
      This was done on Reef2Reef forums. If you want the link I can provide it.

    Interesting. I like the spectrum options. I was hoping for a more Kessil like shimmer. I may have missed it if you mentioned it, but does it have timer/schedule capability? Also maybe it's the lights, but your birdsnest really looks like pocillopora to me. Is it a birds of paradise variety? Good review.

    • @SimplyReefing
      @SimplyReefing  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah the shimmer is a unique mix depending on wave action. It does have a timer which I did not cover in this video it really was a live unboxing. That is a pocilopora if I give it with a lot of light then I get pink tips.

  • @bopeep7806
    @bopeep7806 Před 2 lety +3

    Nicer than a kessil shimmer, the newer kessils have gone to dense matrix and now they have lost the nice natural caustic lines and are just all over the place :)

    • @SimplyReefing
      @SimplyReefing  Před 2 lety +3

    I recieved the system and it didn’t work.Instead of replacing the lights they had me open the power box and I found a screw loose in the box that must’ve shorted out the box.They sent me a replacement box and when I hooked it up to the light it did not work so they sent me a circuit board to install. I installed it and the light didn’t work. When I asked for a refund or a working light they told me that I voided the warranty because I opened the light. I lost $169.99. When I asked to be paid for my labour I never received a reply.

    • @SimplyReefing
      @SimplyReefing  Před 2 lety

      I am sorry that this happened to you. Those power bricks carry a lot of power I am not sure why they just didn't send a replacement instead of having you open the box to then void the warranty. I would try them again and see if you can get this resolved.

    Two things: 1) video pace and information download painfully slow. it would take this Reviewer 30 minutes to describe and show how to open a new jar of Jiff peanut butter. Rotfl. 2) if I were Noopysche USA I wouldn't appreciate the Reviewer that kept referring to the K7 V3s as the K3s. Credibility just got skimmed out.
