“When you seek revenge, first dig 2 graves.” Sigh. There are never happy endings in revenge stories but this was as close to the best ending as possible.
I always come back to rewatch this. It’s one of my favorite vertical dramas. Now I’m hyper focusing on the scene from 47:00 and how the ML is so fascinated by the FL’s true personality. Before she was playing the role of the mischievous but innocent poor maid but now she’s showing her true self. She comes from money and isn’t intimidated by the high class. She can play the piano brilliantly. She’s also crazy enough to fight for the man she likes by poking her heel into someone’s eye! 😅 she gets that rich girl scared and running and the ML is in love! He ditches his mother and the rest of the snobs and takes off with her. She really showed up to claim her man in this scene and I love everything about it.
Bittersweet ending. The boy wanted to run away and be happy but the girl was too caught up in her own revenge to choose happiness. I love the cycle of cruelty for love: the Stepmother destroyed the girl's life so that she could give her son a better life; the girl destroyed the mother's life so she could pay back her cruelty; the boy destroyed the girl's new happiness so she could pay for (what he thought was) the murder of his mother. Then at the end, the girl's mother's dying words to her was that she should stop carrying the burden of sorrow and be happy. But by then it was too late. I think it should have ended with the girl teaching her daughter how to play the piano, as a sign of hope for the future.
@27:21 : he kept a pet snake that he fed hamsters to, he always had a dark side. @47:02 sad that the missing audio means no one who watches this will appreciate the BOSS music that's playing when she gate crashes the recital. My favorite thing about their love story is that he's increasingly attracted to her darkness, her true self.
1:48:19 It took me several rewatchings to realize this, but everything he does from this point is to manipulate her into "provoking" him to taking her to bed. He keeps her in the house in her old maid's uniform, where she's so bored, she's cutting up his clothes 1:48:46. He expects her to sell company secrets, and even has a camera watching her do it 1:48:35 . He's not surprised, and gleefully announces to her that because of her actions, he's going to get engaged and she has to be on her best behavior as his plaything. 1:49:21 He basically goaded her into playing that role to anger his fiancee, who in turn tries to bully her, and then he comes to her "rescue". But he never needed that engagement or contract. 1:51:41 (At the end of the movie, it's confirmed that the company was never in trouble). That poor little rich girl was just a means to a completely different end. She thinks she's manipulating him until he tells her there's a price for provoking him and that if she likes being a plaything so much, then she has to start acting as one. And after that, all bets are off in terms of what he can do to punish her. 1:55:03 . Which is just to say that the writing for this drama is so brilliant and I wish it was more popular.
1:53:26 can't get over the way he's looking at her in this shot. That's what "point of no return" looks like. Also compare to 1:09:46. He went from begging for her attention/favor/love to just taking it.
Okay, I’ve been searching for this because see the ad. The story line is a whole new. Doesn’t like others has babies with CEO😂. This is whole new story and soo good. The actor and actress is 😍😍😍. The lady villain is so pretty and dressed well. Thank you for sharing with us ❤
Did anyone notice this interesting parallel? 0:35 - The tutor asks little FL to call her mom then slaps her when she says no. 1:17:09 - Grown up FL tells her ex-tutor that she'll call her mom-in-law then slaps her shortly after. 😂😂😂
There are many interesting details in the story: 1. He has a pet snake and she's wearing a lot of snake jewellery as "Revenge" but stops wearing all that snake jewellery after the fire. 2. She calls him a dog that comes and goes at her command, and like a dog, he bites her twice. 3. He's wearing white and no glasses in the beginning, and five years later, he wears black and glasses all the time except at the end when he saves her and he's not wearing glasses. 4. the first time they walk past each other, he's wearing white and she's wearing non-white collars. the second time, she's wearing white and he's wearing black. both times it's just before or after the white-wearing person buys flowers. their roles have switched. 5. they confuse his mother for her mother because after 5 years, his mother has also turned into a mad woman constantly muttering about her son!
1. horror movie moment 1:52:00 that turn and smile is both hot and evil! 😈😈Can we take a moment to appreciate how the drama turns the most innocent person in the story into one of the most devious ones? 2. his eyes here 1:53:26 when she says his name and tells him he'll go to Hell, and his answer! she really created a monster, didn't she? 3. this exchange 1:17:57 I like that Revenge breaks her Ice Queen act and she shows her pain to her former stepmother/tutor. I also like that the stepmother isn't lying when she tells Revenge that her parents are the ones who failed her. Her father LET himself be seduced, and make bad business decisions that ended in bankruptcy and suicide; and even her mother failed to protect her children. 4. Continuing from (3), this is why Revenge needed a dead little brother to make the stepmother clearly evil in an unforgivable way and not just an ambitious woman who used stupid men like Revenge's father. 5. I like the character-establishing of making Gu Xun have a pet snake he hid from his mother (and tricked by making her think the hamster was the pet). It shows that he always had a streak of darkness inside him, and it makes his turn in the latter part of the movie more believable. 6. I think the writing does a great job of showing how Revenge is devoted to Lu, but it's less about Lu as a person and more about what he represents - innocence and a new life. Lu represents her humanity. That despite how far down this dark road she's travelled, she hasn't become completely heartless like her former stepmother. Her stepmother's love for her son was always about narcissism and control, anyway, even before Revenge came into the scene.
Love both Wen Mo Yan and Ye Hao Ran,,, I can't take my eyes off her mole... She looks attractive... Hao Ran is so handsome too... He kinda look like the Filipino Actor Seth
Any other drama from this cp? This cp really know to play with our heart and good in displaying longing teary eyes and emotion. Bittersweet end. The bad mom has the worse revenge kill her own son, while the son block his lover. The revenge is success compliment with other losses. All team are good.
I really tried not to cry but when he says "so you love me a little bit after all", I gave in. they could have been happy together but she wanted to punish his mother so badly that she had to punish him, and therefore she punished herself.
Who else thinks that they should have drawn out the explanation for Revenge's new identity better? It would have been so much better if 1:38:38 had come after 1:44:19 If we had also been in Gu's headspace and been confused and uncertain when she ate sweets and didn't have the scar. (Also just realized that he bites her to BRAND her which... 😈🥲 I can't even with their toxic dynamic). Imagine if like Gu, we also didn't know the truth - is this really Revenge? Maybe she has amnesia? But how come she has a history as a different person? Then when she breaks down and cries for her mother - WHAM! moment.
