  • Saturn making noises, squeaking,rattles ,tires wearing out,wheel alignment off, steering pulls, could be your frame rotted away..you don't want this front part to drop into the ground while driving..it could send you up and over or at least to a rapid stop..if you see this on your car..its time to let it go..S7E332

    I have the same car same year as above. The rust out damage was much like the above. Honda engine. My mechanic shop did the repair by cutting out all the rusty bits, fabricating new mounts from sheet steel and welding them in. Perfect result. Car feels and runs just like the day I drove it off the lot.

      Hopefully they made some holes in the new metal to drain out the water that collects in there.

      Yes, it is open on the lower part of one side. Water cannot collect there. @@alyoungcuda

    I have 2006 Vue with same rust problems. The rest of the underbody was thoroughly examined and has no other rust. I had a metal shop remove the rust and build a replacement. It is now stonger than when the car was new.

    • @alyoungcuda
      @alyoungcuda  Před rokem +1

      Sounds good, but be safe, there is a reason why you don't see Saturn's running in the streets anymore, just like the old chrysler pacificas that faded away or rusted away...same rust issues

    Cut out the rotted metal, weld in new stuff and good to go. If yours are still solid, SOAK the inside of those square cut outs with fluid film or something similar

      if it was my car, maybe but for a customer their lives matter..believe me if this is rotted than there are other places on the car that's holding on by a tread too.

      @@alyoungcuda For my Vue 2007, only the two cradles are rusted due to poor design. Other places don't have any serious rust at all. Terrible design. Should have told customers years ago so we could spray some rustproofing liquid inside the cradles to prevent this for several more years. Very simple solution.

  • @walterbatman7949
    @walterbatman7949 Před rokem +2

    Sad part about it the equinox platform is this design all the way to 2017 you don’t see the square holes on the 2nd gen because GM knows they have a serious problem to his should be a safety recall

  • @missa7469
    @missa7469 Před 2 lety +3

    Yep, same thing going on with my 2007 Saturn vue, getting fixed, cars still good. This should be a recall. They used too thin of metal when making this

    • @alyoungcuda
      @alyoungcuda  Před 2 lety +1

      Welding new metal in those areas you see will not fix the rust you don't see and in an accident, it will fold like an accordion. Thats why you don't see many around..the Chrysler Pacifica was an example of the same thing.

    • @worstmechanicever7091

      How much did you pay to get this fixed?

    • @timguy161
      @timguy161 Před rokem

      GM knew about this long long ago. They should have informed us. All we need to do is to hose out accumulated dirt and spray some rustproof liquid from time to time. Easy fix. Too late now once the rust already took its toll. There is no benefit for GM to inform you. They don't want your car to last long so they can sell more!

  • @jls41nj1
    @jls41nj1 Před 10 měsíci +1

    Couldnt you just cut away the rust and take a longer bolt and attach it to the top section where it still looks solid. I know this might not be the best option but it may keep you going for a few more years . I have this exact same problem and the car runs great, I only drive it 12 mile to work and back so im looking to either weld some new metal or longer bolts or both

    • @alyoungcuda
      @alyoungcuda  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I'm sure somebody somewhere can fabricate something but alot of shops that say they can weld, I would not trust because in case of an accident, that rotted front will collapse and fold like a book and I won't take that chance on a customers vehicle. Just think, if its rotted there, its rotted everywhere else that the naked eye can't see. There is a reason why Saturn's are not around anymore, same with the Chrysler Pacifica that had rusty Frames, they also fell apart . The only mount holding this whole drivetrain and steering assembly was under stress already.I understand its only 12 miles for you but you only need 1 second from an accident or a rust area that is comprised to put you in a tail spin. The only welder I would trust is a Tig welder from a Race car Chassis shop..those welds hold up in crashes.

      You are redesigning the structural integrity of the vehicle unless your an engineer or a certified welder that knows how far you can really cut back and secure new metal to this bullshit foreign steel...You are putting your life and other peoples life in danger....Take it to a frame shop and spend More money than the vehicle is actually worth is not an option.... 😡
