- Saturn making noises, squeaking, rattles ,tires wearing out, wheel alignment off, steering pulls, could be your frame rotted away..you don't want this front part to drop into the ground while driving..it could send you up and over or at least to a rapid stop..if you see this on your car..its time to let it go..S7E332

I have the same car same year as above. The rust out damage was much like the above. Honda engine. My mechanic shop did the repair by cutting out all the rusty bits, fabricating new mounts from sheet steel and welding them in. Perfect result. Car feels and runs just like the day I drove it off the lot.
Hopefully they made some holes in the new metal to drain out the water that collects in there.
Yes, it is open on the lower part of one side. Water cannot collect there. @@alyoungcuda
Mind sharing the mechanic shop that did the work?
I have 2006 Vue with same rust problems. The rest of the underbody was thoroughly examined and has no other rust. I had a metal shop remove the rust and build a replacement. It is now stonger than when the car was new.
Sounds good, but be safe, there is a reason why you don't see Saturn's running in the streets anymore, just like the old chrysler pacificas that faded away or rusted away...same rust issues
Cut out the rotted metal, weld in new stuff and good to go. If yours are still solid, SOAK the inside of those square cut outs with fluid film or something similar
if it was my car, maybe but for a customer their lives matter..believe me if this is rotted than there are other places on the car that's holding on by a tread too.
@@alyoungcuda For my Vue 2007, only the two cradles are rusted due to poor design. Other places don't have any serious rust at all. Terrible design. Should have told customers years ago so we could spray some rustproofing liquid inside the cradles to prevent this for several more years. Very simple solution.
Sad part about it the equinox platform is this design all the way to 2017 you don’t see the square holes on the 2nd gen because GM knows they have a serious problem to his should be a safety recall
Yep, same thing going on with my 2007 Saturn vue, getting fixed, cars still good. This should be a recall. They used too thin of metal when making this
Welding new metal in those areas you see will not fix the rust you don't see and in an accident, it will fold like an accordion. Thats why you don't see many around..the Chrysler Pacifica was an example of the same thing.
How much did you pay to get this fixed?
GM knew about this long long ago. They should have informed us. All we need to do is to hose out accumulated dirt and spray some rustproof liquid from time to time. Easy fix. Too late now once the rust already took its toll. There is no benefit for GM to inform you. They don't want your car to last long so they can sell more!
Couldnt you just cut away the rust and take a longer bolt and attach it to the top section where it still looks solid. I know this might not be the best option but it may keep you going for a few more years . I have this exact same problem and the car runs great, I only drive it 12 mile to work and back so im looking to either weld some new metal or longer bolts or both
I'm sure somebody somewhere can fabricate something but alot of shops that say they can weld, I would not trust because in case of an accident, that rotted front will collapse and fold like a book and I won't take that chance on a customers vehicle. Just think, if its rotted there, its rotted everywhere else that the naked eye can't see. There is a reason why Saturn's are not around anymore, same with the Chrysler Pacifica that had rusty Frames, they also fell apart . The only mount holding this whole drivetrain and steering assembly was under stress already.I understand its only 12 miles for you but you only need 1 second from an accident or a rust area that is comprised to put you in a tail spin. The only welder I would trust is a Tig welder from a Race car Chassis shop..those welds hold up in crashes.
@@alyoungcudathanks for the advice
You are redesigning the structural integrity of the vehicle unless your an engineer or a certified welder that knows how far you can really cut back and secure new metal to this bullshit foreign steel...You are putting your life and other peoples life in danger....Take it to a frame shop and spend More money than the vehicle is actually worth is not an option.... 😡
I thouoght we were the only ones. Good lord... these peopel sold us junk. We own an Equinox, very similar to the Vue, and that thing is a rotted carboard box.
Welders are nice
sometimes you need to know when its time to let go..other parts of the suv was rotting away too
Car washes are better
We have this problem
Was recommended to the customer to let the suv go..if its rotted here in those spots you never know where else and the only thing holding the engine and transmission in place is the mounts bolted to the side frames and the suspension surely is loose on the road and over bumps...
Gawt Sawt? Such nice vehicles, what a shame :(
Saturn seems to have rust issues..I remember the recalls...must be the reason why they closed up too
@@alyoungcuda I've never heard of a saturn rust recall. They're all at a minimum 12 years old at this point, they're gonna be rusty, especially when you don't clean the underbody. All cars this age would be just as rotted.
I never heard the recall either..thats why Saturn's are not on the road..they must of rusted away
@@alyoungcuda ... no, you must not have heard of the 2008 recession, which made the american auto industries go bankrupt. In order to receive a bailout, they had to either sell or shut down any companies with little or no profit.
Also, you're the one who brought up the recall?
No recall from me..a guy named Charles mentioned it and added part numbers..
Hey how many miles does this car have mine is only 160,000 miles on it
Alot of miles..not worth fixing with all the mileage it needs to travel in new york ..better safe than sorry
I’m going to see I have the same issue on the right side passenger-side I want to see if someone could well this good as new! If I can I’m going to make a video of it
@@jeannestark6293 were you able to find a welder?
I got rid of it because it had rust near the axle and it was dangerous
Mine just broke off my driver side today 2004 VUE 390,000 miles. Chop it off and weld a new one on good as new
Scary stuff
Waiting on GM to ship me parts to repair my Redline...
They make a repair patch for this?
GM parts. 88980840. 88980842. 23124778. 25897355. Depending on which side you need. There is a video on CZcams showing the repair.
Fit all the way up to 2017 Equinox!
Wash your car a couple times per month in a car wash with an underbody flush
Its not so much the washing, its the lack of drain holes in that design that causes the rust..water sits in that area and rusts away..
I spray Fluid Film anticorrosion oil inside 4 times a year. @@alyoungcuda
