Pathetic piece by ESPN. This is part of the reason why I no longer have any pay tv subscriptions. I do not miss ESPN one bit. The WNBA has been propped up by NBA money for decades now, and I'm still hearing them compare their league to the NBA. The interest in women's basketball in the US is just not at a high enough level to justify any salary remotely near the NBA. This is not the NCAA and Title IV, it is a business with bottom line profits vs. costs. Furthermore, nobody forced Griner to go to Russia. There are other foreign countries where she could have gone to play and get paid well. And since when was a base salary of $240k not enough to get by on? It's almost 5 times the average US salary. comparing Brittney Griner to Lebron James is ridiculous, of course Lebron would cause more of a stir because he's popular and millions of people on social media would talk about it and mainstream media, for example when asap rocky got arrested in sweden in was big new because he's famous, duh. will smith smacking chris rock was huge story why, because they're two hollywood stars. if it was to up and coming comedians at you local comedy club nobody would care
Not fair NBA players have larger platform??? NBA had a 60 year head start to WNBA to establish its league, of course that platform will be bigger.
