Absolutely. This version sounds more relaxed and friendly. Most chart music is kind of over-compressed and totally over-produced in sound. Stand out at any price. Unfortunately, this always makes the music or the sound texture kind of empty and impersonal.
I’ll never forget this classic. April 1984 - I was running late into town after the worst day at the office. Central London was on alert due to the IRA Troubles, and all the tubes were diverted. I was stressed out, and my friend was waiting, but when we got to The Blitz nightclub, this belter was playing and the drinks kept coming! I didn’t know who the artist was at the time, but I soon found out when listening to the Top 40 that Sunday evening! Went straight down to Woolworths to get the single. Oh I miss those days!
Madonna likes to downplay any comparisons but with how influential Gaga was in the 80’s it’s hard to deny she’s wasn’t heavily influenced. If you listen to her track Express Yourself it’s undeniably an homage to Born This Way.
Omg- I actually had this on tape back in the day!! This was released in what? ‘84? And only 6 years later, the Berlin Wall is demolished and the reunification of Germany happens. The power of 80’s music never ceases to amaze me.
Oh yea I remember that, waiting for the video on MTV! Originally this was written for Madonna's 1984 album Like A Virgin but she rejected it so Gaga used it for herself. A way-paving song for the LGBT community!
@@mi-key And then the scandal when Madonna released Express Yourself just a few years later and everyone was big mad because she "copied" this song! I was just a freshman in '89, but I remember hearing that at junior prom there was D R A M A when the DJ played Madonna's new single followed by Born This Way. Some of the drama club kids and cheerleaders got into a huge brawl over who ripped off who and long story short, it ended with a small fire and the principal almost canceling senior prom over the damage done to the gym's folding bleachers.
And I still WONDER why this 1984 NO.1, multi platinum world wide hit isn't played in Wonder Woman 1984 Mall action scene!!! This was the must have in the aerobics VHS and TV programs!!!
Oh gawd... this takes me back... Summer 1987... Underage in the clubs in Miami, tearing up the dance floors coked out of my mind, hooking up with random nameless bimbos... That was the life. It seemed like it would never end. I kinda like her daughter's cover that came out a while ago.
I loved listening to this song back in the day. I remember the first time I ever heard it I was taking the cucumbers into town on the cart and it came on the radio. I was utterly flabbergasted. Not just because of the absolute power of the song, but also because radios hadn't been invented yet and I hadn't turned it on. Tripped and lost my leg that day, but it was worth it. This song was the reason I became the person I am today, and will always hold a special place in my heart
THANK YOU FOR 50K+ VIEWS! ❤️🔥
how do 90% of today's pop songs sound 100 times better on 80's samples? the power of the 80's right here gentlemen

MiKEY Music Exactly- the ‘Let Germans Be Together’ movement. What a pioneer. Shame we lost her to COVID-13.
