tbh i kinda think it'd have made a decent link between cute thing and high to death, smoothing out the transition between the loud and the quiet and adding a layer of intensity between the emotional quality of the two

angle !! i think “it’s never on the lips” fits a lot more, it explains the title of the song a lot better (and the lyrics that follow right after, “you can talk”). when they kiss they close their eyes but because it’s not in the lips they can talk whilst they do it (keeping their eyes shut).
