Unfortunately, Black Cat does not work anymore. Instead of farming at 420 speed, farm at 400, depth strider 3 while holding W. If you do not want to hold W, farm at 298 speed, but this will have less efficient lane swaps.

holy cow i was just trying to build this without a guide and was dying
note that he uses depth strider 2 and not depth strider 3 on his boots. You can also press the W key while farming with depth strider 3 for the same effect
not same effect because it becomes less efficient since you are running slower.
@@SunTzu-MelonKing when i timed it the results between the two were the same, and the math also checks out. I would argue holding forwards (binding it to space aswell for ease) is better because now the only buttons youre alternating are left and right plus the added facts that'll youll remain close enough to break the melons without deviation.

@@FUZIONxwhat do you mean? This was some time ago now, but i remember timing it. And for the maths, using wiki as sources for speed procentages when using different levels of depth strider on soul sand. Which with depth strider 2 on soul sand the number was equal to using depth strider 3 on soul sand but with holding W while holding A/D. The speeds multiplicative factor was the same for both. And i also timed using both methods and got the same result in time from one end to the other.
@@FUZIONx my argument for it being better is that i dont need to pay attention to changing lanes since im already holding W so i just need to switch from D to A or vice versa
If anyone is having problems with getting stuck even after adding trapdoors i fixed it by making my boots deps 3, using 411 speed and holding down W all the time so u hug the block infront. (This also makes so u switch to next lane without having to press down W in the end)

With the new pest update, I find it's better to use wooden trapdoors instead of iron as they tend to get stuck in them, making it impossible to kill them
place a layer of any block at the very top of your plots, the pests will spawn on the layer instead of your farm
You can also use depth strider 3 with speed capped at 297 for almost the same effect if you don't have the black cat pet
ds3 holding w with 400 speed also works

@averageskyblockplayer4361 always hold W, and alternate between A and D. By not letting go of W, you'll be switching lanes already by the time you realize it's lane switch time and just need to change between two keys.

if your on ironman you can do it with 3 plots just make 6 rows insted of 4 im garden level 10 and it worked great
4:44 For those building from West to East the ladders don't place correctly going that way but you can just place ladders down from the opposite side of the plot to do what he is doing

So did they fix black cat or not? Built this farm a few months ago and still have ranchers boots at 420, thinking about farming again after quitting. If they're still at 420 and have depth strider 2 am I good to go? Or do I need to set to 400 and get ds3

do you have to start from the top left plot to the top right plot or can you go from top left to bottom left
Yes, you can go north to south however you will have to place the ladders by hand because it will not work with the builders ruler

You can build it north to south or east to west
Additional Note you don't need water for melons or pumpkins once the stock is fully grown so the melon or pumpkin will keep producing
so this design will remove the problem with bouncing the players enter and exiting water. if you wanna do even more effective farm future proof design you will want to remove water *(BUBBLES) and if they ever do any updates where soul sand adds the bubbles back this will prevent the player from just bouncing around. so just use sponges, I don't know if this decreases the tick rate of growth but they still grow w/o water. GL
water still makes the stems pump out a melon/pumpkin faster

last one got u 19.7 bps and this gets u up to 19.95 bps
can i ask, why does this farm only take up half a plot should i be making it to the full length or only the 12 rows of soulsand done at the beginning ?
12 rows is all that is needed for garden 10 and above. you could also place 12 more for a pumpkin farm and still have room left over for that plot

Why did you use soul sand and not something else?
Also how many more rows would need to be added to make it a 20 min farm?
Do I need to use snow? what is its purpose?

lets speed answer this 1. soulsand is to lower your height to get the right angle and to slow you down so when you remove the negative speed effects you have a faster row change (the only real alternative block i can think of that gives the same height is snow layers but youd have to place each one by hand also coco but something that also happens when doing with snow is snow and cocoa break from water) 2. you need around 18 rows for 20 minutes of farming so i believe 6 more rows than suntzu shows 3. snow isnt required just recommended since it is slightly more efficient since you dont raise or fall some distance which can block you from breaking a few blocks on the ends

It seems like they may have patched using black cat, so as an alternative you can use 296 speed with depth strider 3 and still get the full 20 blocks per second.
(sadly lane switches will be slower, but assuming I'm correct about the patch it's what must be done).

When I’m farming I notice that when I’m running to the left it starts to miss blocks unless I turn a bit to the right and when I’m running to the right I have to turn a bit to the left to be at -0.0 or else it missed more than half of the pumpkins, anyone else have this issue and find a fox that doesn’t require me using my mouse?

No, This farm is built for 420 speed and the corners make it so that you are traveling faster because you are running on layers of snow instead of soul sand.

as long as you going east to west like in the video it is fine. however you can go north to south but you will have to place the ladders by hand@@mwtb7309

It's just harder to build, ladders won't place correctly with the builders wand, it's just a general time save

pitch will be the same. Take the number and subtract from 180. Until you it works for you

How do you destroy ladder when you have use a farming tool to farm. It should only destroy the crop.

I followed the tutorial to the best of my ability I got finished building the farm and I noticed that 4 of the rows don't get effected by water on the 2nd and 3rd row idk what is causing this.

this tutorial is very confusing. i built as directed, pasted as directed and now theres massive gaps of bedrock between sections of the farm. how do i make it a single large farm. i did the same rows as directed and it doesnt work
can you make the farm using the plots 20 to 14?
You can but if you are not building the farm from east to west you have to place the latter's by hand.
Little confused is this purely for collection numbers and stuff as I can’t get any blocks from breaking stuff as it’s a copy pasted preset?
when you make a layout your blocks dont drop when broken except for crops, its probably going into a sack you have or you started the paste with seeds down already which shouldnt even effect it

Even with snow layers at the correct height, I rubberband every other lane swap. Any ideas about how to fix this?

I just realized I need the soul sand so I can see the top melon😢 right after completing the farm with dirt instead of soul sand and snow😢 well I guess I gotta find a speed that works well with depth 3 and replace all the dirt with soul sand😅
I will have to do this by hand for EVERY piece of soul sand 😢

When I start farming with 90 yaw (my farm goes from north to south), I seem to shift backwards always, I even use the Skyhanni “Yaw and Pitch” and I still shift. Any fixes? (With Skyhanni “Yaw and Pitch” i can only get 89.99 or 90.1 Yaw)

this is the reason why it should've been made facing south, you can just /plottp and you'll be facing true south (0° deviation), which would make your yaw 00.00
turn off humanized rotations
turn your mouse sensivity down to 60-70 for max precision

there's a tiny chance you get stuck in a normal block because the character model has to step up quickly
