Vinny talking about being conflicted over the microtransactions in Battlefront II makes me feel sad. The argument of "Maybe it has a good single player campaign" doesn't cut it. Upholding your morals and making people take responsibility for their shitty actions is more important than being wowed by a new toy. Sometimes there's somebody you don't agree with. Sometimes they have something you want. Instead of lowering yourself and interacting with them to get that something it's better to take the high road and pass it by altogether.

In the beta, at least, I didn’t buy a single thing and I was still the best player in several matches.
Videogames ARE about enjoyment, yes. And it's kind of hard to enjoy a videogame knowing someone with more money than you has an edge. Videogames used to be a place where everyone had a level playing field, and skill was the only determining factor as to how people played. Now we're seeing games where whoever has the most money has the edge. It's hard not to say something against that. I don't make a lot of money, so it's personal to me when microtransactions that give gameplay advantages are put in the game. It's like an insult to me. If somebody says they'll support a game with microtransactions in the game I normally don't support them. Most of the time I won't watch their videos on that game. The entire practice is as greedy as it gets, and if someone forges on regardless of being aware of that fact it reduces my trust in that person. The more vocal you are about pointing out shitty behaviour, the more people start noticing it and pointing it out themselves. Some are hypocrites, yes. They'll point it out and do it anyways. But there are others who will abstain from that shitty behaviour and protect themselves. But they need to know they should protect themselves, otherwise they'll take the lazy route and pay. It's those two old sayings come to life. "Ignorance is bliss" and "An ignorant man is the easiest to control" rolled into one. Think about movies for a second. You pay $14 for a movie ticket, right? Now, in some theatres you can pay more ahead of time and reserve seats. Those people get to see the movie up in the front rows. Seems unfair, right? That's what microtransactions are now. You paying an extra $7 on top of the $14 movie ticket to get a reserved seat. Except this time it's $60 for a new game (plus whatever $30 DLCs they decided to cut f-- I mean, come up with) plus the $5 each time you want a chance to get a new gun. It's unfair and just creates a rift between people.

I was just ticked off at how you seemed to be attempting to control the games that Vinny (and others) plays and buys. Personally, if having micro transactions means that I don’t have to pay for DLC (or at least won’t be tempted to), then I am for it. I truly don’t believe that the transactions in this game will give anyone a significant edge. As for the movie theater example, well, that’s how our economy works. You have more money, you get nicer things. I’m probably not much more well off than you, if at all, but I accept that as a fact of life. I don’t like it being implemented in video games, but I also consider it a fair trade off in this case. Lord knows that EA will never, ever make a move that stands to lose them a significant amount of money.
I'm just sad that people want to give into the easiest route, which is to not fight the encroachment of financial advantage. I want games to be for everybody, not just for rich people. It disappoints me sometimes when someone whose opinion I trust says that a small token given as an apology outweighs the shitty behaviour that's been seen from the beginning. EA's been a collective bag of dicks since 2006 or so, and (I will admit strong personal bias) I don't like people supporting them. Everyone knows EA are a collective bag of dicks. And yet I still hear people on the fence about their products. And that kind of hurts.

If you can choose between a traffic-less highway or a bunch of curvy side roads, would you choose the hard route or the easy route? People support EA because they make games that people like to play. Deciding whether to buy a game shouldn’t be some big statement against the tyranny of business, or something. Everyone knows that they’re dirty, but most of their games are fun, and that’s all that matters to most people. And even Vinny says that you shouldn’t value his opinion too much. He’s just a regular guy who happened to get famous, and he’s no more well informed or smart than any of us.

Battlefront 2 doesn't even need microtransactions. There's no need for a extremely high budget, full priced, triple A game to have more payment options. The worst thing about it is that so many other games are jumping on board because, as much as I hate to admit it, they are making lodsofemone for the developers & publishers.

When Vinny mentioned that Japanese idol documentary, it kind of frightened me, considering that I'm a fan of Love Live. I owe a whole lot to Love Live. It got me through possibly the most depressing arc in my life and got me motivated to finish college.
I thought that the existence of the documentary kind of made me think of myself as a creeper. I had a friend of mine, who was also a fan of Love Live tell me that we are nothing like those weirdos portrayed in the documentary. Thank god.

Sega was notified by multiple means before they started making it, and they only sent the C&D after it was released onto the internet. I feel like they had to protect their copyright but still wanted to let it be made.

Vinny talking about being conflicted over the microtransactions in Battlefront II makes me feel sad. The argument of "Maybe it has a good single player campaign" doesn't cut it. Upholding your morals and making people take responsibility for their shitty actions is more important than being wowed by a new toy. Sometimes there's somebody you don't agree with. Sometimes they have something you want. Instead of lowering yourself and interacting with them to get that something it's better to take the high road and pass it by altogether.

Simple as that. If he doesn’t buy it, or you don’t buy it, or I don’t buy it, it doesn’t matter in the slightest, because there are millions of people who will no matter what. As a chat member pointed out, Vinny streaming it could actually reduce the number of sales, because people can just watch instead of buying.
Also, the micro transaction thing was very misrepresented in this stream (which is not Vinny’s fault). The rewards you get for paying are very minimal. In the beta, at least, I didn’t buy a single thing and I was still the best player in several matches.
Videogames ARE about enjoyment, yes. And it's kind of hard to enjoy a videogame knowing someone with more money than you has an edge. Videogames used to be a place where everyone had a level playing field, and skill was the only determining factor as to how people played. Now we're seeing games where whoever has the most money has the edge. It's hard not to say something against that. I don't make a lot of money, so it's personal to me when microtransactions that give gameplay advantages are put in the game. It's like an insult to me. If somebody says they'll support a game with microtransactions in the game I normally don't support them. Most of the time I won't watch their videos on that game. The entire practice is as greedy as it gets, and if someone forges on regardless of being aware of that fact it reduces my trust in that person. The more vocal you are about pointing out shitty behaviour, the more people start noticing it and pointing it out themselves. Some are hypocrites, yes. They'll point it out and do it anyways. But there are others who will abstain from that shitty behaviour and protect themselves. But they need to know they should protect themselves, otherwise they'll take the lazy route and pay. It's those two old sayings come to life. "Ignorance is bliss" and "An ignorant man is the easiest to control" rolled into one.
Think about movies for a second. You pay $14 for a movie ticket, right? Now, in some theatres you can pay more ahead of time and reserve seats. Those people get to see the movie up in the front rows. Seems unfair, right? That's what microtransactions are now. You paying an extra $7 on top of the $14 movie ticket to get a reserved seat. Except this time it's $60 for a new game (plus whatever $30 DLCs they decided to cut f-- I mean, come up with) plus the $5 each time you want a chance to get a new gun. It's unfair and just creates a rift between people.

Personally, if having micro transactions means that I don’t have to pay for DLC (or at least won’t be tempted to), then I am for it. I truly don’t believe that the transactions in this game will give anyone a significant edge. As for the movie theater example, well, that’s how our economy works. You have more money, you get nicer things. I’m probably not much more well off than you, if at all, but I accept that as a fact of life. I don’t like it being implemented in video games, but I also consider it a fair trade off in this case. Lord knows that EA will never, ever make a move that stands to lose them a significant amount of money.
I'm just sad that people want to give into the easiest route, which is to not fight the encroachment of financial advantage. I want games to be for everybody, not just for rich people. It disappoints me sometimes when someone whose opinion I trust says that a small token given as an apology outweighs the shitty behaviour that's been seen from the beginning. EA's been a collective bag of dicks since 2006 or so, and (I will admit strong personal bias) I don't like people supporting them. Everyone knows EA are a collective bag of dicks. And yet I still hear people on the fence about their products. And that kind of hurts.

People support EA because they make games that people like to play. Deciding whether to buy a game shouldn’t be some big statement against the tyranny of business, or something. Everyone knows that they’re dirty, but most of their games are fun, and that’s all that matters to most people. And even Vinny says that you shouldn’t value his opinion too much. He’s just a regular guy who happened to get famous, and he’s no more well informed or smart than any of us.

Battlefront 2 doesn't even need microtransactions. There's no need for a extremely high budget, full priced, triple A game to have more payment options. The worst thing about it is that so many other games are jumping on board because, as much as I hate to admit it, they are making lodsofemone for the developers & publishers.
