He's willing to play any interesting role.
He looked 60yrs old playing JESUS, what a joker for sure. The movie was terribly wrong👿 if you know the Gospels. Mary had 7 demons in her, that was not smooth running for her.

Words of Jesus in this movie: "How does it feel to carry that hate in your heart? Does it lessen as the months go by? It seeps into your days and nights until it consumes everything you ones were... But you MUST FORGIVE, there is no other way to enter the Kingdom of GOD." Can anyone argue with these words? Joaquin Phoenix is a very talented actor in this perfect movie.

This is a mischaracterization of Jesus' teaching. He taught that he was the only way to enter the Kingdom of God. Forgiveness is a work, a fruit of the Holy Spirit. But in Christianity, it is not our works that lead to salvation, it's our faith in Jesus Christ who died in our place so we may take his perfect righteousness and be counted as holy, as God is holy - as such, our faith, and the New Covenant that Jesus established, is based on God's Grace.
Otherwise, it's a good message.

he doesn't want one. he's said he hates the oscars and pretty much only shows up to support his co-stars. if he does win i'll be surprised if he even accepts it. in fact when he was last nominated for The Master he called the oscars "total bullshit". i do want to see him win just to see what he'll do LOL

I'm sure he would like one. But like many others, he's beyond Oscars. Taking on weird roles in odd movies instead of repeat stuff. Some are bad movies, others good. But his acting is always beyond good. And I'm not into movie actor stuff. Could care less really. They're millionaires entertaining the mass of poor people, I know them and they know us no more than the man in the moon.
But some really put their all into their acting. He's one of them I actually remember the name.

When the interviewer said to Joaquin "What's it like to shoot the crucifixion, was it grim and like all that?" Joaquin " Well, comparatively obviously not." I just about died!!
I don't think the interviewer meant the pain of the crucifixion, IMO he meant the harsh living situations. Looked all so bleak
The best interpretation of jesus ive ever felt. It makes me feel so connected to the truth. Its like a radio station that finally has found the right frecuency in my heart. So grateful for this creation and for the people that made it happen.

gerard comics I’m simply stating that before his crucifixion, he was a Jewish preacher and he was Jewish in every way. His followers and people who believed he was the messiah formed a sub group out of previously Jewish people after his crucifixion. He was not a Christian God, as the OP stated. The birth of Christianity is his legacy.

I really like Joaquin Phoenix, he's an amazing actor. But if I'm honest, I thought he was miscast in this movie.
Why do you feel this way. What was it that made you think he was Miscast... I always thought skin color was a big thing in representations of actual likenesses but Hollywood seems to not care anyway.

I don't understand the casting in this movie. Jesus died, on the cross, at age 33 and Joaquin looks like he is pushing 60 in this movie. I think it is great that Biblical stories are being put into film but at least get close to the actual story.
This looks horrible. Hollywood can’t never get it right. Passion of the Christ, the greatest story ever told and Ben Hur were the only good ones.
