Houdini Algorithmic Live

This is a weekly tutorial live for Houdini. In this week I'm going to show how to create developable surfacing algorithm explained in the paper "Developability of Triangle Meshes" by Oded Stein, Eitan Grinspun and Keenan Crane.

Hi guys. Im new in Houdini and I have one question. Is it possible to create all these algorithms using only nodes without using VEX?

nope, also pretty much every node runs vex under the hood

@@Reidvault Hi, thanks for your reply. I saw an interview with Simon Holmedal and he said that he does all the staff with nodes only without using VEX. He said he can use VEX and knows how it works but doesn't want to.

You wouldn't be taking full advantage of Houdini without vex/vop, am one year in houdini as a character artist ( got into it for grooming purposes, so no prior technical experience) and i can tell you from experience, vex is intimidating at first but once you get into it, its addictive!

@@FareedNagy Hey, thanks for the answer. I understand. But the author uses VEX for loops, equation operators and formulas. All this can be used with nodes. Yes, it will take longer, but you can do without the code.
