    Hot Air Balloon - I went up in a balloon as part of my safari in East Africa and so I only have fantastic memories of the event. It was a sunrise ride with breakfast on the plain afterwords - again, fantastic! It was so peaceful to watch the sun rise over the plains and to see the animals below! Of course, I had my camera with me and was snapping pictures right, left and straight up. At the end of each day, I would note which pictures I thought would be the best of the day for future printing but the best photo I EVER TOOK IN MY LIFE got nary a mention, as a matter of fact, I thought it wouldn't have turned out at all (BTW, this was all recorded on film so I had a wait to see everything). There was a herd of impalas grazing below and they were between the balloon and the horizon with the sun backlighting them. When I was about to take a picture of the big buck, the pilot light the gas and scared the buck, he ran, I snapped and realized that I probably will never get another chance for that kind of photo again in my life and was a bit disappointed with all that movement. When I finally got home and had the film developed, the 11th slide I looked at took my breath away - there was the impala stretched diagonally across the frame with the background all black with some brushstrokes of blues and yellows scattered about!!!!! Wunderbar!!! Best photo I ever took in my life let alone from the balloon.
    Oh, there was a small down point on the trip that I don't think most people would have to worry about - my flight was in Kenya but close to the Tanzanian border. If we crossed the border (that would be an illegal crossing!) we would have been shot down!!! Thank goodnes for an excellent pilot!!!

    You're definitely a happy bunny with this jigsaw, it's right up your alley. Bright, colourful and cheerful. 👍I prefer colourful jigsaws rather than ones with a lot of dark areas in them. I'm currently doing one called Cat Library & Dog Play Park, double sided, by Professor Puzzles. I've never been up in a hot air balloon but we have an annual Balloon Festival where I live. It's been going since 1979 and if the wind is in the right direction they can be seen going past or over my house. There have been many special shapes like Thomas the Tank Engine, Bertie Bassett, beer mug, car, fire extinguisher, birthday cake, football trophy etc. By the way the subtitles sometimes introduce you as Donald Louise! 🤣

I just bought them at a hardware store and put duct tape on the underside at the join so that that don't move apart. The puzzle might just about fit on it. I went hot air ballooning for the first time last year (2022). It was great, I would recommend. It was very peaceful, there wasn't much sensation of motion so I think you would be fine. The landing is the most turbulent bit. From what the company told us it is usual for the balloon to bounce a couple of times and sometimes even tip on its side. Ours did bounce a couple of times but in slow motion - we were braced in the manner we were told to and it wasn't a problem at all. Definitely something to tick off your list of life experiences.
    I've just done my first 2000 piece puzzle and am about to try my first 3000. Hoping to work my way up to some giants. Have just bought this downtown puzzle and it will likely be my first 6000 piece one - it looks so doable,. Thanks for the great videos.

    I love this picture! :) I just started a 1,000 piece last night that has SO MUCH puzzle dust. And I'm not even the first person to put it together! I have in the past used puzzle boxes for sorting help, but I had a bit of a cat/puzzle disaster so I bought some sorting trays that stack. I wish they weren't in the shape of a puzzle piece, but they do the job. I do use the box the trays are in though if I need an extra spot or two. :)
    I've technically been in a hot air balloon, but it was tethered. In Orlando, in Disney Springs, they have a hot air balloon that literally just goes up, then back down. It's tied in place so you don't go anywhere but up. It was a LOT of fun and very cool to experience. I'd go up in a regular hot air balloon now...

    The take off in a hot air balloon is super smooth. You hardly notice it moving. It wasn’t until I looked down that I noticed we had actually taken off. The landing on the other hand was bumpy. We landed in a field and it bounced a few times before coming to a halt. I don’t know if this is how a landing is supposed to be or if this was the exception. The ride it self super smooth. I don’t think commercial rides go up in turbulent weather. Our ride was postponed several times due to clouds, slight wind etc. So if you have a chance to go, I highly recommend it. I also suffer motion sickness and I felt nothing at all the whole ride, not even in the landing.

      I just posted a video on Tuesday (the one previous) to this with a speed puzzling update. I also just did a three-person team trial this afternoon which went really well. I'm hoping to get more 500 piece puzzles done this weekend. I'm trying so hard and am having fun. 💜🧩

    I got this Puzzle as a gift and wonder how i can build such a large Puzzle. What are the measures of your Puzzle board and how do the two stick together ? Thank you very much for your Video!

      I used two boards taped together on the underside with duct tape. Each board was 1200mm x 900mm to give me a total of 1200mm x 1800mm. They are also pretty thick and sturdy ones. Hope this help. Loved this puzzle so much!! 💜🧩

    Maybe I missed it. Was it just one bag? Or 2 3000 piece bags?

    • @fortheloveofpuzzles
      @fortheloveofpuzzles  Před rokem +2

      It was all just in one bag of 6,000 pieces. I believe larger than that, most manufacturers start breaking it up into smaller sections. The largest piece count that I've done in one bag is 6,000.

    • @kolmkilpkonna
      @kolmkilpkonna Před rokem +2

      @@fortheloveofpuzzles Thanks! I was hoping that as you had 2 bags shown in the beginning of the video the second one was not the one you referenced, as you already knew the results of the poll.
      I can't fit more than 3000 on my table. Love the image. But doing 6000 pieces on the floor would kill my back.
      (I know there are options to sort really well and do it in sections anyway, but is not really how I love to puzzle)

    Interesting how little dust there is in the puzzle, considering it is a downtown puzzle. We have lots of dust downtown here in Helsinki. But we don't have a lot of hot air balloons here, probably because Finland is so cold that they didn't simply find any hot air to put into the balloons. 21 027 meters sounds like a lot. I have never been that high. Not even on my birthday, when I got really high. We also have that kind of "dust" here.
    Also it is bad if the pieces jumps to next timezone, like at 12:25, and you can't find it before an hour passes. And if it goes to other direction, you lost it because it is so hard to go back in time.
    Seriously, is that a bag with "FOR THE LOVE OF PUZZLES"-logo on top of a computer, looks really nice? And one question about the puzzle: Does it have a multiplied cut like for example bigger Ravensburger puzzles often have, that is, does the pattern repeat itself i.e. same piece fits exactly into another certain spot in the puzzle? Good looking puzzle anyway, I love that there's not _that_ huge amount of sky or water, although obviously there's quite a bit of it anyway.

      Again, thank you for the laugh! Yes, that is a tote bag with For The Love of Puzzles logo on it. A friend made it for me. I also have a t-shirt and zip-up hoodie. I need her to make me more clothing to wear. I do believe the puzzle has a repeat cut pattern as I had a perfect false fit in the border but, I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Maybe once the puzzle is done, I can figure out what the repeat cut pattern is. Or maybe I should do so beforehand to help with the sky. 💜🧩
