the way he explains his difficulty to remain calm touched me deeply, it's the first time I hear someone describe issues that are so much similar to mine, I almost cried from how I can relate to his struggle, it's really nice to see someone who actually understands.

He explained it perfectly. I can never put it into words or describe how it feels to me. The way it feels. Why I do it. He said what I’ve wanted to say for so long.

He articulates what it feels like to have a tick and the need of it to be perfect or you have to repeat it over and over again only for it to be satisfied for a few seconds Once you’ve satisfied the desired outcome before you need to do it again. That’s exactly what it feels like for me. I showed that part of the video to my wife

My touretts are incredibly severe, I've had the same exact touretts this guy is dealing with and they sometimes come and go, If you supress them long enough, eventually they will wear off. I've been dealing with this curse for 21 years straight now and I'm finding life incredibly difficult, When I was born, I was starved of oxygen and had to be resuscitated

I've been dealing with this curse for 21 years straight now and I'm finding life incredibly difficult, When I was born, I was starved of oxygen and had to be resuscitated, I'm pretty sure that's what caused my touretts and is the main cause of it, but yeah, I can relate to this guy and feel exactly what he is going through.

51 y.o. here. had numerous motor, mostly facial, nose, eyes, aince I've been 10 years old. There's not a 20 second block of time that i don't do something It is exhausting, and although I am an extremely high functioning professional with a family and brilliant, successful adult daughters, there is not a day that goes by that i don't wish it would end. i spent years trying to modify them, and mask them, and decrease their intensity to remain undetectable. I'm at the point now in life when i care less and less and if someone makes note of them, whatever. I have great lifelong friends and everything I'd ever want so it just kind of my cross to bear.

My twelve year old struggles with tics. He has been diagnosed with Asperger’s since he was around five but only recently his Tics started. They are getting progressively worse each day. He lets out uncontrolled yelps and screams almost constantly except when sleeping thank God but he suffers each day and I can see he is distressed by them as those around him as they are very sharp loud yells without any formed words

I was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome when I was 13-14, late onset for me. My worst tic that I get is with my neck, sometimes I pull my neck because I was twitching it so bad. I also started moving it and thrashing it randomly in my sleep, so much that it wakes me up! It's not annoying, to see this splint help someone with Tourette's so much is astonishing.

I feel so sorry for what you all are experiencing, my daughter has it for 20 years. We as a family have tried to help the best we can. Her strength over this time has been so admirable. She developed it around 10 and it was a rough time for her, it consumed us all, searching the best doctors to deal with it. She has gotten much better, is working and has a social life. Anxiety causes stress which leads to tics still. But she has learned coping skills that help her get by, exercising is important, even long walks help. The most important is love and support from family and friends.
Try to find a doctor who is a pharmacologist, one who knows medications and specializes in tourette syndrome. If someone is young and has it, Dr. Barbara Coffey who is now at the University of Miami, Miller school of medicine. She is a great wonderful doctor who has helped our daughter cope with this. She is one of the finest doctors with a career. dedicated to tourette syndrome. She is a professor of adolescent psychiatry, pharmacologist and director of the division there.
Do look her up if you can and its worth the trip to see her if you can. Instills hope and relief in many cases. The whole staff there looks like a great resource for the best possible help for all with this troublesome syndrome. I wish you all well and just know there are scientist and doctors working on new medications and cures as we speak, and getting closer to at least having better treatments if not the cure.

The problem with my Tourette are no vocal tics, thank God (except maybe for a bit stuttering and that I may make some silent noises). Mine are facial and body tics like moving the fingers together, eyebrow moving, and head swinging. But the sad part is that my thoughts are coming from a compulsive disorder and Asperger´ s: Like fights with anyone, esecially authorities, supernatural abilities, and so on that make me think I have to be the ultimate- whatever. And everytime I think of this (which can be anytime) I start moving my jaws together so strongly that some of my teeth are completely ruined. Then I have to say things like: "I am so intelligent that everything else crumbles". Or also completele nonsense like: "Girls are men- for three years" or whatever thing. And sometimes they are so strong I even have to move around the room hectically.

    • @mp-uy9sv
      @mp-uy9sv Před 7 lety +1

      +Sebastain Salazar
      "Constant Electric shock therapy ",
like an electric shock collar on Dogs with a remote control button ,
you put the collar on your arm or legs , and wear it 24 hours ,7 days a week
and you or a family member shocks you (push the button) repetitively every single time at the exact moment a body tick , or vocal Tick swearing etc.. starts
A few months of constant electric shocks like this ,
eventually will lessen the ticks to a rare occasion .
since over time the body "mentally" associates & links "PAIN" with Ticks
instead of the subconscious good feeling of release & pleasure that is commonly associated with the urge to tick .
Then the urges to have ticks decreases as a result.
After some time you will no longer need to wear the electric collar
Try that for 6 months straight!!

I don't have full blown tourettes, but I do have tics. The most annoying tic I have is blinking for a very long time. Like closing my eyes for 20 to 30 seconds before I feel like the urge is gone. It only occurs when I am playing video games and stuff though, so it really sucks since I very much a gamer at heart. Or whenever I try to control them I end up straining my eyes and they become very irritating.

      pain is a good teacher!!
and it is not a life long treatment
like these other waste of time supposed "therapies " (like this video).
once pain is mentally associated with " ticks" subconsciously
then they eventually become so less frequent to non existent .
A REAL CURE!! REAL RESULTS !!
There is nothing cruel about it if you are a volunteer !!.
I would do it happily if i had Tourettes .
