  • Terry White is here to review the Dylnk Cast Pro 2.0 device that allows you to add Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to your Tesla (2019 or above). The Dylnk Cast Pro 2.0 is a small hardware device that you connect your Tesla's WiFi and your smartphone's WiFi and Bluetooth. Once connected, you will have all the benefits of wireless CarPlay in your Tesla's web browser.

    I remember when Waze worked natively in the browser back in 2018. Supposedly Google disabled that functionality on their end. I'd love to get Waze back to show reported police locations but not upgrading the original Model3 just yet. Thank for showing us what it can do!

      Yeah kind of crazy because every car since 2016 with apple car play/android auto has it, but no matter how much you spend at tesla, still can't get you that feature natively :/ this looks like a decent work around tho as long as you have a good connection...

    The main thing I want is to be able to use the steering wheel voice button to command Google assistant, as well as having regular Google maps navigation that integrates with the full self driving feature, so this won't be much better than having my phone connected via Bluetooth with a mount to keep it easily visible and accessible.

    Looks like it works great but I wished Tesla would just make some sort of App Store to developers create their own programs for the car

    I think I’m gonna try this… I need Elon to get with the program (CarPlay)! 😆

    Do you need Hotspot for this to work?

    • @TerryLeeWhite
      @TerryLeeWhite  Před 7 dny

      No, all the data comes from your iPhone natively.

    Doing it on the browser is crap and hacky. Wish they could figure out a way without browser.

    I had a very different, terrible, experience. Very janky and unreliable. The box needs two connections - both a Wi-Fi to the Tesla and a Bluetooth to share the Internet on your phone. That means, actually, the Internet speed and reliability of your connection is actually controlled by the Bluetooth link to your phone.
    After it gets stuck and you end up spending 15 minutes rebooting your phone, re-pairing the bluetooth, and even having to do a soft reboot of the Tesla itself (when the web browser locks up) it quickly becomes a PITA and not worth the trouble.
    Let's put a pin in this and see how you feel in another month or so?
    Also, the Wi-Fi is only used for the website this company (and its competitors) provide to hack the web browser to bring up the CarPlay screen. So you are also totally dependent on the website being online from this Asian/offshore company.

    Why would you even want to do this? The Tesla software is the best in the world and cannot be improved upon, other than every five minutes by OTA updates 😂
