Another belt-packing tip: line them (open, undone) along the side of your suitcase.
I live in Australia and usually have one long trip of two or three months each year. I always roll my clothes and use packing cubes. I use separate packing cubes for winter and summer clothes, and a small cube for underwear and swimmers.
Thanks for the suggestions! Packing cubes seem to be a popular item! Thank you for watching!
Always so inspiring! This whole week i will be wearing ms. Beltempo inspired outfits! Thank you so much for giving me life ! 😘
Aw that is amazing! I hope you have fun shopping your closet! Thanks for watching! xx
Watched this several times and sent the link to my mum! Love it and the ideas I will definitely implement.
I once packed for a week to Alaska in the Summer in one carry on and one tote bag, I rolled everything, even a jacket, a raincoat, and another purse inside the tote. It took all the worry out of waiting for luggage and hoping it was all there. Loved all the outfits you made with the limited articles of clothing! Have a wonderful trip, Alyssa.
Wow that's amazing!! Thank ms for sharing Lynne I'm excited to try an overseas trip with a carry-on only :) thank you for watching! xx
I'm a roller. Like others have mentioned it saves space, no wrinkles and I can see everything. I even choose to do the same in my drawers at home. I love how you can pack so light with so many outfit options. Enjoying your vlogmas videos so much.
Yes Ive half-rolled some sweaters in my closet as well to see them all :) thank you for watching! xx
Most excellent capsule! Love the addition of the blazer!
I absolutely love your ‘ugly’ Christmas sweater. Thanks for these tips. Enjoy your holidays... Belinda xo
alyssa, i love your channel! keep up the great work!
Yay! Thank you so much Briya I really appreciate it! Thanks for watching! xx
wonderful inspiration for my vacation!thanks a lot!💕
Wonderful! Thank you for watching Corinna and have a great vacation!
My oh my, I really like you, your channel and what you're all about. I just had to subscribe! Thank you for all you do. I am most appreciative.
Aw this is such a kind comment thank you I really appreciate your support and encouragement! Thank you for watching!
Great video and I love your “ugly” sweater! It is just beautiful!!
great video Alyssa. re: fold or roll...i usually only ever travel with a carryon, regardless of length of the trip (3 days or 3 weeks) and I've found rolling along with the use of compression bags and/or packing cubes are essential, especially for trips that will involve multiple activities/sports and seasonal conditions. i've heard great things about the Away suitcases, glad you're enjoying yours. have a good week.
Hi Heather! Ooh sounds like you're a pro - my new carry-on makes me want to travel that way, I'm definitely going to try it. And packing cubes!! Definitely going to try those! Thanks for sharing and watching I so appreciate it!
Great outfits loving it all!! You have an eye for style.😉
Thanks Shena! For watching and your lovely comment:)
Hey Alyssa, thanks for sharing this lovely video - i will be travelling next week (short trip) so this video has come at a good time. Love the music you've used. And oh, i roll all my light weight clothes, fold heavy weight ones and leave blazers unfolded like you xx
Thank you Cindy glad you liked it :) I like your combo of roll and fold! Thanks for watching and have a great trip!
I'm a roller almost 100% and use packing cubes. For jackets, button down shirts, etc., I have packing envelopes. I do have a puffer coat that compresses into a drawstring bag...a great deal for $25.00! Great ideas yet again. 😊❤
👍 WOW great ideas, love the outfits you have put together. I fold my clothing most timr i pack, next time l will give a roll a try.
Hi Mei Ling! So glad you like those looks - people have been raving about packing cubes too! Thanks for watching! xx
Lovely video, Alyssa! Love how it starts out! Great outfits!
As for me in packing...if going with a lot of clothing, I roll. Less, I fold, but either way .. I put them in the dry cleaner bag, before putting them in my suitcase. They do not get wrinkled at all this way!
Have a terrific weekend! It's my BD Party weekend, so after work tomorrow, all's going to break loose!! 😀🥂🌹Cheers!
Hi Gina! Great tip about the bag:) and happy birthday!!! Have a great time I hope you have a wonderful birthday weekend! xx
Happy Holidays, Alyssa! The way I pack a belt is just have it unrolled and let it wrap the inside perimeter of the case and pack a reversible belt so u have 2 for 1. Also, I found rolling gives the most space.
Oh yes love these tips!! Thanks for sharing Noelle :) and for watching! xx
I'm a roller because I can see everything I've got at a glance and can fit items into the nooks and crannies. Also, I keep dirty clothes in a separate bag, so rolling make it easier to separate everything and save space. Enjoying this!
ah great points about rolling! Glad you enjoyed the video :) Thanks for watching!
Alyssa, these were some very good tips and outfit suggestions. I have a hard cased suitcase and love it too. I really LOVED the black turtleneck and black blazer. Also, the oversized sweaters with the leggings and fur lined boots. There is absolutely NO WAY I could ever be gone for a whole week with 1 pair of jeans though. lol Thanks for sharing ! Happy Holidays and Happy Travels !
Hi Linda! I'm so glad you liked some of the outfit suggestions and glad to hear you like your hard case! I'm loving mine so far even though it is new to me. haha I hear ya on the one pair of denim ... I don't think you're the only one who feels that way! Thank you for watching and have a great weekend! xx
Great tips and outfits, really inspiring! I always roll my clothes, they get less wrinkled, take up less space and I get a better overview. xox
Hi Lisa! Hmm yes I think rolling is the winner ... also hearing a lot about packing cubes! Thanks for watching xx
This was a good video. Just what I needed as I’ll be in Iceland in January.
Amazing! Thank you for the kind words and have an amazing trip!
I used to roll but I've learned how to pack even less so I just fold or whatever works lol... Nice outfits!
Lol yes I'm in the whatever works category too! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful smart funny responsible creative! Did I say beautiful? :) Love you and your videos. I always roll and amen to the packing cubes. My hubby and I did 5 weeks in Europe in 3 different climates with only a tiny carry-on each and loved it! Overpacking stresses me out as I then have to come up with outfits at my destination. Love learning the different outfit combos - thank you for sharing, Alyssa! Natalya
Natalya!! You are so kind thank you for those wonderful words :) you are my packing hero! I think with my new carry-on im confident I could pack what I need for three weeks - you've inspired me!! Have a wonderful weekend and thank you so much for watching! xx
Thanks, Alyssa! With your amazing styling skills, I'm sure you could pack 3 weeks worth of outfits into a cross body purse x) And believe me, it took years of bringing double the stuff I could wear on a trip before I learned that packing light made my life easier every time. Have a great weekend!
@@freefallingintograce4634 haha thanks Natalya it's all about learning isn't it? Have a great weekend as well xx
Enjoyed this as always. Roll or fold, either or. 💕Deb
Glad you liked it Deb! I'm the same I do both! Thank you for watching! xx
Love it thank you
Saving these ideas for upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas travelling...so efficiently, as it is still Summer 2019 here in NE Ohio. 😊❤ Thank you, Alyssa!
Now a SE Michigan resident for almost 3 years (!!) I will now be getting ready to travel with the hubster to Chicago (with my side of the family) for Christmas. Your video content is applicable yet again! 😁❤️🎄
Thanks for all the tips. I really struggle with cold weather winter packing. I can see that I try and take too many pieces compared to what you packed. Then the shoe and boot thing . Wow.. I did get a packable bag puffy down jacket. I like your tip about trying on the outfit options before you pack.
Hi Jan! It is tough .. everything is so bulky for cold weather! I'm so glad you found the video helpful :) thank you for watching!
Hi Allyssa, for your clothes packing I would suggest packing cubes- they really organize your luggage and and keeps unpacking at your destination super simple. I have several sets by now and can’t recommend them enough
Hi Tetiana! Thanks for the suggestion there have been so many comments about packing cubes I'm definitely going to invest in some! Thanks for the suggestion and for watching! xx
Love your new luggage Alyssa! For very cold weather, I wear wooly tights and leather pants and my Aquatalia all weather dressy boots with rubber treads. I will invest in a set of luggages. I will check out yours.
Oooh you make the cold sound chic! Leather pants is a great idea and aquatalia boots are a great cold weather brand :) oooh do check out the luggage and tell me what you think! I've been very impressed so far :) thanks for watching Jeannette and have a wonderful weekend! xx
I make a list by day, listing all the mix and match outfits. Then, I separate them by rolling the outfit by day. The jeans/pants or coats, I fold. I don't like to bring big suitcases. I went to NY for a week on November and I had a carry on and my little handbag.
I loved your video, great outfits!!!
Ooh I love that idea Catalina! Planning is key :) thanks for sharing and watching! xx
Nice combos. I really like the white button shirt over the turtleneck. I need to find a medium weight shirt like that. And I never thought of putting a blazer over a sweater, I'm def going to try it. I typically fold my clothes in packing cubes. Rolling creates too many wrinkles. You can certainly fit more with rolling, but I find that I don't really need to bring that much anyways.
Hi Candice, glad you found some ideas in there! Yes - I LOVE my medium weight shirt - perfect for cold weather. I've heard of packing cubes so going to try, and yes like you I haven't had to roll recently .. thank you for watching!
I agree, the white shirt over turtleneck is a nice look - one that's different, too. But also loved the t-neck under blazer. I roll but just won a set of packing cubes so will experiment. Can't imagine they help that much
GREAT TIPS👍
Thank you so much for watching Angel xox
CIAO Alyssa, we're heading for a 3 day trip to Ensenada B.C. here en Mexico, and we're heading the Revolution day this weekend november 14th to 21th , and I was checking for advises. And as you ask in this blog, about folding tour tops, and I learned about using the shoes your paking, with our socks inside...excelent! And currenty, Ensenada is colder previously, that my home town in this dates(2hours ahead from Tijuana)! that the Baja Races are heading with no crowd, do the healt regulations in our state. Anyway! got the advises you share regardidng light packing. And looking forward for a new vlog in this comming days..CIAO from the Baja, (as a matter a fact I''m getting a wine from Santo Tomas ver there!) see you girl!
We recycle it in the plastics for our last ones and for the packing Rolling plus stick the fragile stuff or structured jackets on top
oh really!? Were they hard shell suitcases or material?
Alyssa Beltempo hardshell as long as there are NO metalls in there its ok in Sweden but diffrent countries have diffrent ways of recycling / handling also they had polyester cloth in the inside.
Sometimes I roll, sometimes I fold (though I do think rolling saves more space) but the BIGGEST game changer is packing cubes.
ahhh i've been wanting to try those! Maybe i'll buy some for my next trip - thanks for the recco! And for watching! :)
Totally agree
I keep hearing great things about packing cubes. +Alyssa Beltempo, if you decide to try them please let us know how it goes! Would love to see a video!
kris cox Agreed, I'm evangelical about pacing cubes to anyone that will listen!😂😂😂
I always always overpack so I have to roll.🤭
Both roll and fold. But roll more because it really keeps thin materials wrinkle free
Yes I think most would agree with that benefit .. thank you for watching!
Please add a black slacks or skirt. Adds allot more outfits. And a colorful scarf.
Hi Betty! Yes - had I been going to a more chic place like a European destination I would have swapped out the leggings for a pair of black slacks or skirt ... although i'm not much of a skirt person it would be very versatile. Thank you for watching!
packing cubes!!
Thank you for the tip Kimberly I'll try them!
I would go with packing cubes
Yes! Will try thanks for the tip!
I roll my clothes. I went to Europe last fall and my clothes unpacked in perfect condition
Ooh interesting! I've done both depending on how much I have ... thank you for watching!
Always love your videos and your approach. I use to over pack and now I’m getting better and better. Can I suggest a different pair of jeans, not as tight in my opinion would look more stylish and current because the rest of your chosen items are very classy and timeless. Best wishes
Hi Svetlana! Thanks so much for the kind words! Interesting suggestion! I often choose things that are a bit different from each other on purpose - classic vs current & skinny vs volume to make the outfit a bit more unexpected:) I will try my straight leg jeans with those looks though! Always fun to try :) thanks for watching!
Old luggage can be repurposed as great pet beds
Love the Snow Boots! What make and where did you find them, I need a Pair!! 💖💖💖
Thank you!! I've had them for about 10 years :) they are Uggs! One of their classic styles - I've linked to them in the description:)
Alyassa, you do such a wonderful job making outfits and making them look stylish. One question, I always find my jeans tend to get stretched out after a few wares. I’m also petite, so jeans that fit me probably are always a struggle. Thanks!
Hi there! Ah jeans do tend to stretch ... You can pop them in the dryer on a higher heat setting to shrink them a little although I'd keep a very close eye on them so as not to shrink them too much! You could also spray them with water before you put them in the dryer. I also tend to just pop a belt on and roll the cuffs when they're getting loose to make the baggier look work a little longer without washing ... You may also want to try raw denim ... A company like Nudie or Naked and Famous have a great selection of raw denim - it's very stiff and takes a while to break in but holds its shape beautifully. Hope this helps!
Hi Alyssa! I love the gray sweater that you're wearing in the video. Where can I find it?
Hi Carol! It's very old Banana Republic but it's one of their classic styles that I believe they repeat I. A certain way.. if I can find one I will link it in the description!
Definitely roll my clothes! I've enjoyed the videos! :)
Nice! Thank you for watching Alexis!
👏👏👏
xoxo
Hi Alyssa. What size is the luggage: The Carry-On, The Bigger Carry-On, The Medium, or The Large? Always love your videos : )
Hi Mindy! I have two - the white one is The Carry-On (linked in my last video: czcams.com/video/FO_njTHZ-S8/video.html) and the beige one is The Medium. So appreciate your kind comment, thank you for watching! xx
Liked the black blazer where did you get that from any similar?. Love all the styles you did..xx
Thank you! The blazer is from Club Monaco , it's an older style but they've updated it - I've linked it in the description box!
Thank you so much...x
Alyssa - what's the blazer? Smythe?
Club Monaco! Added the link :) xoxo
Yes event wear and/or general travel wear can be so tricky! Well done. (I've only just started to think about this in terms of my wardrobe as opposed to my travel wardrobe; ie - what do you do if you're traveling to an event, especially a formal event??)
Recently had a spate of funerals in the family - this might sound a bit frivolous but in hindsight these are events you usually have very little time or luggage space to plan for with multiple 'events' entailed; with a funeral that could be the funeral, the graveside, the wake etc - this may sound frivolous but are you going to be thinking that when you're freezing at the graveside or overheated at the wake? Likewise the difference to being in an unheated church as opposed to a wedding reception for a wedding [not to mention the rehearsal dinner, the hens night etc] and still work within a carry on allowance??
Also I recently saw a tip that suggested using a belt to support the collar of a dress shirt to save on ironing (re your question on folding; I thought this was quite brilliant)
Hi Alyssa, love your looks, can I ask where you got your blazer? Very smart! I use packing cubes; they have changed my packing life! I either roll the garments inside or just fold them, depending on thickness etc. My one really bad habit when I travel is taking almost all my toiletries with me!! Even with decanting some, I end up with several ziploc bags, what with hairbrush, my electric toothbrush and my foreo. etc!
Hi Patricia! Apologies, I forgot to link it! Just added it to the description - it is old from Club Monaco but it's one of their signature styles so the updated version is quite similar. You are the third person to mention packing cubes! I'm definitely going to buy some. Thank you so much for watching! :)
By the way Alyssa, I just ordered a bag on sale from JMB. I loved your backpack bag, but it was a bit too expensive for me right now. However, I also loved the tote bags that were on sale and ordered the grey and cream Moma one, I think it looks very elegant for a tote! Can't wait to receive it!
@@patriciad.7309 oh that's awesome!! They are great I'm sure you will love your new bag forever!
I roll since my luggage always gets floppef around and folded things never stay put and get wrinkled. I dont take any chances
Ah good point! Apparently packing cubes are the answer to everything!! Thank you for watching! xx
I usually go with 3 bottoms and 5 tops so maybe a pair of dressy pants? Michelle from Alberta
Yes if I were going somewhere urban I would have swapped out the leggings for a pair of classic slacks :) thanks for the suggestion Michelle! xx
I don't think I could pack that little in a million years but like #themostinterestingmanintheworld..."when I do I use packing cubes!" Love all the outfit combos Alyssa....you are not going to win the inlaws ugly sweater contest lol
Oh Dear... please invest in base layer, thermals! They are very thin (adding no bulk), heat regulating, and easily packed. You’ll find it well worth every penny!
Fun! Don’t you get tired of the same jeans everyday for a week?
Haha thanks Linda! I don't get tired of the same jeans :) I LOVE my denim lol ... I'll probably end up wearing the leggings once or twice though too :) thanks for watching! xx
Love it shirt under sweater and #poppedcollar more and video diferent shirts button down outfits and #poppedcollar
I always roll my clothes.
Nice! Thanks for watching Linda!
I usually roll, though last time I did international travel, I tried this packing method for stuff I didn't want to wrinkle (from this video, at the 3:44 mark: czcams.com/video/KPJLuQjesII/video.html) and kinda liked it! Thanks for a great video as always! I loved the outfit combos--loved when you popped the collar and sleeves on the white shirt and that turtleneck really does make everything look chic! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing that video Lisa ! So glad you liked these looks :) thanks for watching! xx
You look so cool but you have a gorgeous body! How did you get those sweater sleeves under that blazer sleeve?? xx
Thats so kind thanks Cyndi! The blazer sleeves are big enough to fit a sweater so I was able to hold onto the bottom of the sleeve and pull it through ... Didn't wear anything under the sweater to avoid bulk! Also, the sweater is thick but not too thick so it was a good fit.. hope this helps? Thanks for watching!
Love the packing video. My husband and I travel a lot. I have a large purple light weight suitcase and a small carry on roller similar to the one you have...but smaller. We go on cruises for at least 22 days and sometimes up to 6 weeks. I pack several dinner outfits... and I ROLL. WEIGH the suitcase and delete the items that I can afford to delete. I stuff shoes with underwear and socks. I line the edges of the suitcase with my belts. I pack a swimsuit in my carry on (cruise ships have spas) and light weight flip flops in the outside of the bag. I love that your new suitcase comes with a laundry bag...genius ...as are the two spaces along the sides. I would be trying to line up my shoes in those spaces...LOL. Really cute outfits. I love how you styled the white shirt that I now own as well! Great video!
Hi Lisa! Wow love that you travel so much and have such great tips! Thank you for sharing!! Ialso always pack a swimsuit in my carry-on ... There's nothing worse than getting to a destination with a gorgeous beach and not being able to jump right in , in the case of lost luggage ... I hope you have a great weekend and thank you for watching! xx
Gosh - Alyssa. Can I have all of your sweaters, please? THANKS.
haha sure thing! thanks for watching! xx
Fold. I don't do rolled. Bev xx
Not taking shoes?
Tq.... but the ensemble of clothes for the hols is a bit boring n doesnt stand out.... practicality, functionality with flair wld be more interesting n challenging...
Oh yeah, I fold my clothes but use packing cubes for underwear, toiletries and other things.
Nice! I'm definitely going to invest in some packing cubes they sound amazing ! Thanks for watching Linda! xx
