Abstract Painting / Abstract Figurative Painting in Acrylics 02 / Demonstration

Demonstration of abstract figurative painting in acrylics. Background is done in fluid acrylics using thin layers and spraying water. Drawing was done before making background. Because of thin layers of background, drawing underneath was visible.
Colors : vermilion red, orange, golden yellow, burnt sienna, black and white.

First of all I like to say...."I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS" "GORGEOUS".
I paint abstract people with bodies....no faces, sometimes partners in shapes which is my favorite.
I'm told by many my work is wonderful and I am pleased with, but watching you paint I see I am missing so much artistic qualities & lack of colours that make the picture really pop. I am self taught and I do think I hold my own very well (I am hoping to find a goof professional one day). I have learned a lot from watching you paint this 3x's and I'm going to try a couple of your moves especially coloring the canvas first thing as heavy as you did. I liked that you layer all that colour down first thing . I would have just covered with that yellowish colour and started leaving all that colour for later giving me a BIG FAT headache.
Sooooo, thank you for the back ground tip first and the white paper trick for adding straight lines. I love it. I do see this to be very very helpful to me in my future abstract paintings. (THIS NEXT ONE I PAINT WILL BE NAMED AFTER YOU) NAMASTE......KAREN

Due to sight problems I can no longer do fine art painting. I did a clear out of my materials and felt so sad to see all those paints, brushes & equipment go in the bin......so I decided to see if perhaps I could do abstract or modern art, although it is not my particular preference. I was so disappointed with all the demos I have watched so far...until I saw this. It still demostrates the knowledge & talent needed to produce a painting that draws in the viewer - stimulating visual/mental interaction that I find is vital if I am not to pass by with only a glance. Expect it will take some practice but hope just attempting to reproduce something similar will enable me to carry on enjoying my hobby. Thank you.

This is years late but I wish you luck on your journey! I suffered from early onset cataracts and have had a surgery in each eye. I’m under 40 and though the surgeries restored my vision, it’s not nearly as good as it was before the cataracts. I struggle with some of the art forms I used to love, including sewing. It can be disheartening but never stop making art! ❤️🌻

no. it lifts the paint giving the painting a textured effect. It also allows you to smudge the colours into the painting. Try it yourself with a practice canvas to see the different effects you get.
