Americans has the wrong habit of putting first gear when the car is moving relatively fast, like 20 miles per hour or even more. None does it in Europe unless the car goes very slow, like 2 miles per hour.
Yes no need to go below 2nd unless setting off or nearly stopped 👍
What are you doing to that transmission? Why are you slamming it into first gear so hard?
