- Advanced Tune Tuesday - Gardenia Waltz
Hi friends! It’s been a very busy few days. A super fun and engaging Beginner Jam Camp and then trying to make the most of @dancing_mur visiting for a couple of days. But I couldn’t not find time to record and share with you this week’s #2022advancedplayerschallenge tune, Johnny Gimble’s beautiful Gardenia Waltz. I was simultaneously excited and a little bummed when I found out the tune because I do sort of already know it but I also already know how challenging it is. This is probably not the best take I have in me, but it’s the one I could pull off in the few minutes between lessons so forgive me any bobbles. I love you all, I hope you know that.

Beautiful so pretty
Thank you so much! It's a beautiful tune.
Great,Megan!
Thank you!
Johnny G. would be pleased. Great job!
Kind of you to say!
You play with such feeling, Megan. Your tone and intonation are remarkable. Very pleasurable listening!
That is so kind of you to say!
Thank you, this is amazing! I've been wanting to learn Gardenia for months! I think I met you at Walker Creek Music Camp a few years ago (and unfortunately didn't get into your class) but I'm glad you're doing well and I'm so happy to have found your channel! You've uploaded a lot of helpful tips and recordings for other fiddle tunes I've been learning as well :)
Oh good! I'm glad you're finding some helpful stuff. I'd also recommend you check out www.fiddlevideo.com. I have a bunch of lessons on there and I think you might enjoy it. Maybe one of these days you'll end up in my class somewhere - would love to work with you. Happy fiddling!
This was beautiful! Gardenia Waltz is one of my favorite Waltzes. May I ask if anyone influenced your arrangement or if this is solely an arrangement that you originated?
Certainly Johnny Gimble's original, but mostly just having heard it a million times over the years and then figuring out what kinds of fingerings worked the best for me. It's a classic, that's for sure!
