Hi Bill! Terrific review! I am just about to get into this 2023 Laphroaig Cairdeas! Based on your thoughts/opinions I am really interested and excited to crack open this beauty and start exploring! I haven’t had time until now with a bit of a breather from an intense start to the New Year with work. 12 hour days at work and more sometimes takes a bit of a toll and it’s only Jan.! Exploring a fabulous Laphroaig expression is always fun, fascinating and relaxing! Live the channel! Cheers! P.S. It’s even more exciting if it’s a Lagavulin or an Ardbeg!! Oh and Kilchomen. So many single malts to explore!!
2016 was my favorite. Madeira cask. Probably why I really liked the 2023.

Oh man, the late 90's being a quarter century ago has just made me realize I'm old lol. Do you also suffer from always feeling like 1997 was just yesterday? Despite this not being the best Cairdeas, I'm still excited to try it. Annual ritual and all. My favourite is probably the 2021 PX. Great video as always. Cheers man 🥃

I think I have tasted all the Càirdeas bottlings (not quite sure about the very early ones) and my favourite (so far) has to be the 2013 Port Wood Edition - good luck finding that for a reasonable price! Luckily the 2020 Port & Wine Casks is not too far below that and should be a bit softer on the wallet... I actually prefer the Travel Retail PX or the 10 Sherry Oak Finish to the 2021 Càirdeas, but we all have different tastes. I'm looking forward to next year's already!
The best for me, is the Cairdeas PX
I like it more than Warehouse 1, but 10 Batch 15 & 16 are tough to beat!
I definitely get the hazelnut and some apricot and barrel char like a bourbon has. I like the 10 cask strength better.
I struggle with tasting whisky & cigars every day.

I liked the 2022 better. For $96 I would rather buy the 10 year old cask strength.
