I saw your podcast when you first discovered Lucy Thomas you were very emotional and that’s the way she makes me feel every time. I hear her. She’s just unbelievable. She has a way captivating you.

I'm in my 90th year and I can still remember the way things were. In that time I have never heard a voice as beautiful and mesmerising as that of Lucy Thomas. What a gift.
I totally agree. There have been some great voices of the past but there can always someone that comes along that puts all others in their shadow, and we have Lucy to thanks for that.

The deliberate lack of eye contact with the viewer is a presentation strategy relevant to this particular song. Lucy is giving a sense of the reminiscing and memorialising that The Way We Were is all about. When eye contact is needed, don’t fear, Lucy will give it, and when she does, those blue eyes will melt your heart.
Just to add Somewhere (there’s a place for us), and just 4days ago, she just released a cover of Evergreen by Barbara Streisand again. Kindly check on that and you’ll get all of her blue eyes and she even got better as she matured. Thanks for the awesome reactions. God bless…😊😊

Her technique and vocal control is reminiscent of someone much older , extraordinary at her young age. She's a pro. Great talent.
Lucy is Lucy, she looks into the camera where the song is being sung to the viewer and not when she is remembering or imaging.
You can't miss those blue eyes when she is grabbing you by your heart.
The best part is when her sound changes for the type of music she is singing.
It is wonderful to being able to follow someone of her caliber from her young age and seeing her light up the world with her music.

Hello Larry- I’m a new subscriber to you n I’ve been following Lucy for about 15 months. Now I’m almost 70 n yes I’ve heard almost all of the great female artists- Barbara S, Whitney, Celine, Dianna Ross, Marilyn McCoo, K.D.Lang even a bit of Eva..?, and YES!, I truly believe we are looking at the very best singer in the world ATM. Only 19 n the question has to be asked , how much better can she get??? I think the maturity in her voice will come through where she’s able to add a “ raspy sexy n sultry” side but not in a crude way but a more sensitive way that will give us even more goosebumps. I’ve listened to 2-3 others who give reviews like you n all of you are amazed at how good she is. I’ve listened to most of her music that’s been released n I can almost guarantee that when she appears in the musical “ ROSIE “ in 2024, the rest of the world will be amazed also. This young lady nails EVERY song she attempts. In fact I dare say , there’s good, great n perfection !… then there is LUCY. She’s way above anyone . Funny enough I listened to Streisand’s version last night because I had not seen any reviews on it like you do n so to hear /see this is perfect timing. Barbara is exceptional but I think Lucy has a deeper wider range of Verbrato n can hold the notes longer. Her ability to “ climb the mountain “ with the note n then slowly descend n still have the power to complete that descent is brilliant. When she’s climbing it’s like she can turn her Volume up even more but she does it in a way that’s SO SMOOTH. It’s like she is in a cave sending an echo out n then returning to outside the cave n bringing that echo, that rolling of notes , back to softness n beauty. OMG SHE IS INCREDIBLE!
RE HER EYES- I’ve seen her do at least 10-12 songs now n she is not camera shy etc . Here, she’s taking us along her thoughts about that journey she was on “ the way we were”. She’s asking us to think could WE, understand her moments back then . Asking us to read her mind along that journey of the song itself. I GUARANTEE if you watch her do another Streisand song, “ EVERGREEN” you will be hypnotised n mesmerised by her eyes as though she’s performing it just for you. She again takes us on another journey. Into another world, a world where there is only her music n nothing else. It’s like we are in another REALM, another Parallel, where there’s just you listening to her sounds n nothing else. . I’m addicted to her music. The last time I thought anyone could be so good was when the BEATLES carried all before them from 63-70. Well you should mark down the date you reviewed this young Lady because she is destined to become perhaps the greatest female singer I’ve ever heard- and I’m almost 70, older than you n I love music. It can enrich our very souls n make us appreciate the beauty of sound. Yes I’m grateful also that I’m alive in this period to have heard so many great singers n now I feel I’m hearing the best ever. How great she can be will be determined by many things such as Health, her dreams n how long can she she protect that God given gift - her voice. Lucy has it all, a magical sound like the voice of an Angel sent down from Heaven n she’s got the looks n but more importantly those looks are heightened by the way she presents herself. So pure n so seemingly polite. One can see both Lucy n Martha have a great family upbringing. In fact listen to SMILE and you’ll see just how good their mother is- all 3 on the one song- now that is Heavenly

“ Britains got talent” at the age of 14 , I think. She sang Moon River ( it’s on CZcams) n she was a semi finalist. I think her parents maybe wanted to make sure she had a good education first but this new show called ROSIE opens sometime in 2024 n I believe she has the star billing . Then more n more people will discover how great she is. It was by pure accident that I saw her n WOW WOW WOW, I’m sure glad I did . How does one describe the perfect singer? Easy …. Lucy has been studying for her A Levels at the start of the year. She has been singing for a new musical for next year and she’s just done the song for a new tv series. She said she’s got a lot of plans for the future. She was on The Voice when she was very young and to be honest I don’t think she needs to go on American Idol. It’s good to see she comes from Wigan, I used to live about 30 miles from where Lucy is.

You said it perfectly. Whitney, Celine, Eva, Babs....Lucy can handle all of it. And not just handle it, but slay it. Ever since I heard "Hallelujah" by Lucy, I was hooked. I thought when I heard her sing "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith, that her voice wouldn't be right, but she took it and made it better still. Literally, almost everything she sings, she improves it or at least matches it. Big fan here. Larry, you nailed it, as usual.

In most of her performances Lucy looks directly at the camera most of the time , but when you are singing a song about remembering doesn't it make to look away most of the time

Larry, got to add more. Lucy, in many renditions, shows her marvelous breath control. Here too, she does something that I think I don't hear very often. She holds a note (with/without vibrato), then rolls right on into another phrase and does not take a breath. Astounding.

Hi ya Chris - Once again, thank you for your emotional reaction to Lucy. As so many others have commented, Lucy IS the best vocalist in the world today. As far as AGT is concerned, I agree she would get exposure. BUT, if she won, there are contracts and responsibilities that go with that win, and she doesn't need that. Lucy already has a recording contract with Cavendish Records and, like Wilbur and George have pointed out, she will be in Rosie in the West End of London, and I'd bet she will win many accolades for her vocal performance. I have a play-list of Lucy and Lucy & Martha of over 50 songs that I listen to every day. It is vocal only - if I were to actually watch the same videos, I would never leave the TV and never get anything done - lol. @lpsmoonlight1874 No Martha is not considering singing as her future so there are no plans for her in the foreseeable future. She is still at school and her free time is taken up with her horse Cloud. Lucy is as Chris says the greatest vocalist in the world.

lpsmoonlight, Martha & Lucy have 2 vastly different vocals, which makes their harmonies pure bliss! Martha's vocals remind me of a very young Karen Carpenter: very soft, sultry, deep, nice layering.........Martha is very, very good and I think better at her current age than Lucy was at age 13! Lucy has the power vocals..........but absolutely hauntingly beautiful........then can go very soft and that natural vibrato makes her vocals really radiate and tap into your soul.......the sisters' sound in harmony is simply so sweet and echoes throughout your body........
Larry I love you but, looking into the camera? She is living and breathing this song with every facial expression and body movement. That is what the camera is capturing. Absolutely stunning. Her tone is so incredibly pure. Not to promote or encourage any banter, but I still love Barbara Streisands voice on this song. Lucy has that impecccable quality and songs like these fit her tonal quality perfectly. This beautiful young lady has quite the future ahead of her.

About looking directly into the camera...... She does look into it a fair amount on many of her songs. However, you must remember that Lucy is not only a vocalist; she is also an actress. I believe this is the way she has trained. Notice actors/actresses in TV shows and movies. Rarely do they look directly into the camera, unless it is for a SPECIFIC intent for dramatic effect or what have you. Lucy is "face acting" here (for want of a more technical term). She is actually creating a "mood" of pensiveness and "remembering" about "the way we were" with her eye movements, her facial expressions, her head movements, her "far away" look, her body position, etc., coordinating all that and keeping it in sync with her vocal expression of the song's lyrical meaning. To me, this is sheer GENIUS, not a girl who is furtively, shyly shifting her eyes from camera contact. She is doing all she is doing with FULL INTENT and PURPOSE.
I don't care for her to be known further than she already is. Unless she wants to be! What I have discerned is that she knows her own mind; and to me, personal satisfaction and contentment is more important than wider fame, unless she desires that!

Larry, in my opinion, Lucy is looking around to indicate thinking of the memories she’s singing about. Many of her other songs she looks directly at the audience. One example is Etta James cover of “ at last” Another good example is “foot prints in the sand”

Hi Chris great reaction as always caught me by surprise I was going through CZcams at 2am and stumbled on this video. I agree with 99% of what you say just one small point Lucy never looks at the camera in this video as she is trying to remember her past that is why she is constantly looking at the sky. If you look at the majority of her other videos a good example being "At Last" or "All by myself" you will see she looks directly into the camera making you the one she is talking about there are many more. We in her fan (or Supporters as Lucy doesn't like the word fans ) club say that she has the most beautiful blue hypnotic eyes and once you look into them you can´t get away .I don´t know how much you know about Lucy but here is some info for you. Lucy is from North West England she began singing at 7 years ,she has had the same voice coach ever since. I have seen a video of her singing "Th colours of the wind at 9 years old. Famous award winning songwriter Chris Broom was introduced to Lucy when she was 13 he " Said that he saw in Lucy the potential to become the greatest vocalist of all time ,Lucy does not just sing a song she acts the part and has the rare ability to bring the listener into the song He ask her to record his song "One day" which she did the following year Lucy entered "The voice kids UK " she was 14 she sung Moon River she was a semi finalist (She should have won however) Chris immediately offered her a record contract Chris is also the owner of Cavendish records the Label Lucy is under. since then she has released 4 Albums and is working on a fifth covering many of the greats. Chris began writing the score for a musical for Lucy to star in This is how highly Chris thinks of Lucy. The Musical called "Rosie is to be released in London´s West end next year .Lucy Has pre-released a number of these original songs eg "Starlight, Suddenly " Gentle Breeze " and "Broken dreams" The release date for the musical has been held up due to the fact that Lucy was still at school and only finished her education a few months ago. I hope this gives you a brief insight into the world of our Lucy. You have only just scratched the surface of Lucy Thomas. I would like to suggest Chris that you listen to "One day" which you can find at Lucy Thomas music this is the song that linked Chris Broom to Lucy at 13.Glad that you love Lucy as we do please keep reacting to her. Lucy is not for the program on tv gotTalent because she has her own music class and she is ready for this scene without fancy ways whether it's talent or not has her own producer and she decides what she wants to sing and sings Classic theater music from the 30-2020 year, and the Musician from the 1950s to this year will try to incarnate in the art of those years, she gives her Spirit in these songs and the Holy Spirit helps her in this
I had really only thought of how it would be good for her to be on it, much like how Loren Allred went on the show after she had sung for The Greatest Showman. She was famous behind the mic but decided to put her face out there. I think that it could be more exposure for Lucy if she were go on the show...

shes is already so good, imagine what she will be like when she has had some life experiences and how she will be able to convey that in her performances.

CZcams has exposed us to a number of international singers we wouldn't have known. Unlike Zuckerberg and Musk we don't need a steel cage match to decide between Angelina, Putri, and Lucy, and Dan Vasc. We can just revel in each and every new experience.
For me Lucy’s the best vocalist and best singer - number 1. There are some others with strange abilities but who really wants to listen them regularly - once is enough. There are some other superb singers that on a particular song are better. However Lucy is master of many songs and already better than the legends. At the end it is what sounds best to the ear and is enjoyable and moves you.
Focus more you’ll understand that Lucy looks and where she gazes are correct. With where Lucy looks she tells a story of the song with her eyes. Lucy saves the camera look to have meaning, then you are drawn into them eyes and her and the lyrics have significance, and emotion. If she looks off and around that gives a charming innocence. All Lucy’s performances have been outstanding - done on a zero budget in no time. In less time than Barbra Streisand can put on her makeup and for less than the cost of it, and Lucy is becoming known so doesn’t need new mentors.
Comparing her to Streisand I prefer Lucy’s versions and Lucy to me is the better singer. In fact I think she’s out sung all she’s chosen. Whitney and Streisand and Celine were good for their song, but Lucy is equally better at those and 60 more besides.

Larry, IMHO, Lucy doesn't need to get locked into the AGT/BGT or American Idol system which has some binding contracts that could cause grief. She was on a show "The Voice Kids" and is gaining notoriety on CZcams, already has a recording contract, and is preparing for a sage show in 2024. Her talent will shine through. Not really Lucy's style; Martha's vocals sound more like Karen's (obviously not there yet, but she has beautiful vocals!). Lucy's idol, according to interviews and the Best concert, is Barbra Streisand so this is the artist who she honors the most by doing more covers of the great, legendary Barbra Streisand! Lucy's and Barbra's vocals are very similar: both have the power, but beautiful, vocals, both have excellent low registers, both have world-class vibratos, etc.!!
Somewhere along the way, you should listen to Lucy’s version of All By Myself. It demonstrates her ability to belt with incredible sustained power.

Larry, Lucy is looking up here and in some other videos to fit the lyrics. In this case, she's looking up/around as in recalling memories. Fits the lyrics completely. Like you, I also noticed her beautiful vibrato in the humming. The slipping from humming to singing and then slipping back to humming at the end is very smooth and fantastic. Cover, not copy -- yes, she makes them her own. BTW, Lucy is either late teens or just into her twenties. She's too young for spotlights and hounding by producers etc. Plus she has almost 750K subscribers and 145 million views, 34 million on Hallelujah alone. Not bad for someone in late teens or just beyond. (IMHO)

Always problematic trying to decide who the best vocalist is. Different singing styles, vocal ranges and song choices, personal preference in the listening ear etc.

I've seen some other videos of Lucy and most the time she sings almost totally looking into the camera, I think this song she trying to covey a dreamy state by looking to the side instead of directly into the camera. She is one of two female singers/artist that can sing a Barbra Streisand as good if not better than Barbra herself, that's Lucy Thomas and probably the best female vocalist I've ever heard, Lara Fabian! If you haven't gone that rabbit hole yet be warned, you'll never come up! Lara did a special around the year 2000 called "Lara With Love" and Lara also did a cover of "Yentl" that IMHO is better than Barbra Streisand's version, you've been warned.

I've been a teacher for over 30 years and have taught a huge number of students who have "wondering eyes". For a very small percentage, it's phycological manipulation. For most, it is just natural nerves and/or shyness. Some of my intelligent students have this habit. Other teachers have shown real contempt for my labeling, but I will NEVER call it a problem.
Yes she makes eye contact when the song seems to call for it try La Vie En Rose with those blue eyes sraring into you. All By Myself is another song to try. I allways thought Linda Rondstadt was the best for over 50 years and then I heard Lucy sing and I don't want to have to choose. Dion and Barbara and the others never appealed much but I went back listnend to some of the original artist's recordings and frankly Lucy blows them away Dion in paticullar was screeching those high belts Lucy is allways in full control amazing voice and a lifetime career ahead.
