- Here is quick and easy way to fix a hunting injector pump, please remeber pump hunting could also be caused by mechanical wear or further issues so always seek expert advice if problems persist.

I have a S124 Mercedes with OM602 without turbo. When i bought it, it was very sluggish about 19-20 seconds from 0-100 km/h. Then i decided to turn up the pump. The first thing i did was turning the ADA screw all the way up. Then i lowered the idle speed with those two screws in that round hole as much as i could and turned the fuel up 2 turns with the low-left screw under the lower lid. Then it started to return to idle quite slow and then i turned the screw that's one upper to the fuel screw almost half a turn counter-clockwise. Then it started to work great and it feels like the car has about 20+ horsepower. Later on i advanced the timing on the injection pump by turning it towards the engine block almost 1 cm. After that the engine has a bit sharper "diesel sound". That gained also a little bit power output and fuel consumption turned down a bit. Now the 0-100 time is 15 seconds. Sorry my english is not the best, i live in Finland!

Mine is doing this but it’s an electronic pump 1998 e300 td om606 in USA….frustrating to deal with but if I turn in the a/c it smooths out nice if I shut off a/c then it comes right back

You have an electronic pump. Can't adjust it
Hi i have a swap om606 on my sprinter whit electric pump and a stand alone ecu but my van overheat up the hill our puling the trailer... i try everthing new water pump new termostat new big radiator electric slim fan but still making the same.

Nope, doesn't help, I will check and clean the hydraulic valve lifters next , I could use better explanation for the complete governor housing and its components, I adjusted the full track travel screw and brought back the idle with the idle stop screw, but I seem not to be able to make black smoke, torque screw and 2m spring adjustment doesn't help me either, I can see that the rack should be able to move further than she does now..., can somebody make a video of the regulator internals, and how they can be adjusted, nothing on CZcams or internet helps me fully out
@@keuninkske did you check if all your vacuum lines are tip top? Check all those freaking rubber connectors between the pipe lines I had a rotten one soon I've replaced it it changed the idle completely
There's also on the top of the fuel pump what it looks like an Alda as they call it it think these are has a nut and a screw inside the housing you can adjust it and it lower or increase idle from there.
Also inside it there's a diafragm made out of rubber when it goes to waste it also causes problems with the pump I've changed mine 2x already.

What do you do about engine that idles perfectly fine for 5/6 seconds then hunts up and down for 2/3 then rinse repeat for ever

P.s. what about an electric fuel pump?
My lift pump was having a bit of trouble, threw a $50 Holley inline pump in as a temporary fix to get me to work. Works like a charm. Be sure to get a low pressure self priming pump. I believe mine is a 4-7 psi pump, itll shutoff if pressure exceeds 7 psi. I've got it inline just before the primary fuel filter as it has it's own (larger micron than our primary) filter. That's what you want just incase. 5 minute install.

Is this bad for the engine, I like the sound of it for my build but don't want it to damage my engine, if I back the nut off to achieve the sound would it hurt my engine?

Very random one ans I'm not sure if youd know... but I've got a bmw m51 2.5tds as a project, and I'm getting the same issue! Apparently they are mechanical pumps also. Would you take a guess in saying I could use the same thinking as this to sort my issue? Various people have said it's the pump but no really knows👎 good old bmws🙄

But what if I have no hunting, but want it? I'd like it to hunt, but a bit slower like once a second or something like that. Is there any way to make it hunt on idle but drive as usual when using throttle?
Doktor Jönsson this engine had no hunting, I backed off the nut for the video so you could do the same.
@@DieselPumpUK But I want the "frequency" to be slower, in the video it changes rpm multiple times per second and I'd like it to be like once a second. Is there any way to achieve that?
@@doktorjonsson3860 the car will most likely drive like shit on part throttle.
If you want it to lope like a bro truck, you could either do what's shown in the video, or go with oversized injector lines, the lope comes from the velocity of the fuel being too low (atleast that's how it works with bigger lines). Either way you do it, it will screw part throttle driving up, but it'll sound cool I guess haha. Also if your ELR is operable, you can turn the idle down with that, to get a slower chop.
