The Samsung QN90C/QN90CD QLED is a high-end 4k TV released in 2023, sitting below the Samsung QN95C QLED. It replaces the Samsung QN90B QLED in Samsung's lineup, but it has more in common with the Samsung QN85B QLED. It's available in a wide range of sizes, from 43 to 85 inches, so there's something for everyone. It's powered by Samsung's Neural Quantum Processor 4k, which was first introduced in 2022 and is designed to deliver better upscaling, optimized on a scene-by-scene basis. Like other Samsung TVs, it uses Samsung's proprietary Tizen OS interface, which offers a large selection of apps and games. It's compatible with the Bixby and Alexa voice assistants, and it supports the new Matter smart home standard, so you can control all of your Matter-compatible smart devices from your TV.

I've owned this TV for almost a year in both the 55" and 75" models and they are absolutely fantastic televisions! Videos like this are great for convincing people to buy other models instead and now they're selling super cheap. I bought a second 75" QN90C from Amazon last week for $1477... an amazing deal! Get one now while they're still in stock!
Hi, I've been debating for the longest time between the 75" Samsung QN90C and the 75" Sony x93L. They both looked great in store and I just pulled the trigger on the Samsung at Bestbuy primarily due to price-- the Samsung was $1750 and the Sony was $2500. I hope I made the right decision as the Samsung seems to get a lot of hate which I don't really understand.
@@user-yz5mn2go2d Wait until you turn it on the first time! The haters can hate all they want while you thoroughly enjoy your amazing new TV! I have a 4K Bluray player and it looks absolutely stunning on the QN90CQ75!
Can Samsung's QN90C 55" tv have a Samsung Q990D or Q910D soundbar's center rest the top of the tv's stand while not blocking the tv's frame? How much room is between the top of the tv stand and the bottom of the tv frame? Thanks!
I love your videos Abi ... you explain technology so nicely and comprehensively !!!
You should always compare to last year's model. You guys used to do that but not anymore.
Fair point! That's something we can look to include in future videos, appreciate the feedback!
or a what are you getting over last year
@@RTINGSdotcomis this tv good for CZcams? My cu7000 isn’t that great. The picture quality looks a bit off
There's a problem from my understanding, that Samsung haven't made a direct replacement. The 90C is now comparable to the 85B. The 90B (last years) is now comparable to the 95C. Due to a rebrand and something to do with the USA market. At least that's how I understand it. So the only way to compare would be in pricing not model numbers. As the 90B was more superior to the 90C as I understand it.
Did i mention that's my understanding of it 🤣
Interesting they seem to have changed their tune on the QN90C pretty recently. They had it as the best bright-room TV for a while and best QLED. Now they have the X93L and the Hisense U8 ranked ahead of it on the website.
I know. I think that viewing angle is severely under-valued for ratings. Just about every living room I've been in has a couch with the comfy corner seats that are outside of the Hisense's viewing angle window. I would live it if Rtings did a deep dive on what the average living room actually looks like. People probably sit off-angle way more than they think.
They get paid to promote other tvs
@@joemeyer6320This
The site does seem to be comprised it is pretty sad.
Paid to promote tv's and compromised? Give me a break guys. Just admit you have brand bias.
Great video , i thought the qn90c has 504 dimming zones though for 65 inch instead of 720. Maybe 504 is for 55 inch version?
There's a few things that no reviewer really talks about. I want to know how many mini LED's each size has and what the differences in number is compared to last year's model. The older 43 inch model from 2022 did not have anti reflecting coating did they resolve that in the 2023 version? And something that the 2022 models had was that you can't fast forward on h.265 videos it can only play the video's but it can't scroll through them. Has this been fixed?
Thanks! Have you ever thought about showing the differences in ... lets call it clarity? by using the simple "adjust clear type text" using a connected pc? My personal 55qn90c panel fails in all regards. It simply can´t show text (white on black + black on white) correctly. My marco pictures show orange and blue beeing lit up as well on the border between black and white. Orange on the left and blue on the right. VLC playing in native resolution has its time counter skewed wth the ":" beeing a brighter blue than black. And whatever i try to clear or smooth out: the text always looks like it needs anti aliasing. Coming from a 50qn94c, which can brilliantly be misused as a pc monitor if the desk has 40 inch depth, this .. "ads"? panel seems to be not fit for work. I´ve read your article and setting suggestions and have tried even the wrong settings (anything but 4.4.4). Could anybody kindly test this as well? And it is not only medicore in its upscaling. BG3 Charactes have less detail than on my 50qn90a: I´ve made a burly blue eyed ork with fairly visible eyelashes that look far too feminine on him. Those are simply gone in any portrait picture. And his cheek tatoo hard can be seen. I´m still testing to see what i could be doing wrong..
my last tv was from more than 10 years ago. after much consideration, i went with the qun90c. im glad to report that im super happy with my choice. i wanted a tv that absolutely rocks at gaming on pc and console, and that is quite suitable for movie watching. ive seen a lot of hate thrown at this tv in comments so that got me worried when i picked it up. im just here to balance things up and confirmed that nothing stands out as being absolutely horrid. this TV is a safe, good around pick. id say Its a very good offering, but then again im not a huge tv buyer so what do i know.
Why anyone nowadays would keep a TV for 10 years is beyond me.

I have an LG model number 55UM7400 that does HDR quite well apart from live sport (Sky and TNT Ultra HD). The picture is too dark when watching football. If I upgrade to the QN90C, 50 inch, will I see a noticeable difference in the picture quality, or is the HDR on this LG just as good? Cheers.

Thanks for all the reviews for samsung, lg, and sony. I waited for the QN95C review since Sept. and once it arrived decided to save 1k and buy the QN90C after the QN95C wasn't as widely available and seemed plagued with quality issues.

Big panel issue in the 55inch model. Look out for dark shadows on all 4 corners of the tv. Check with an all white background. Seems like Samsung is sweeping this issue under the carpet. They don’t acknowledge it. My friend changed 3 brand new tvs and they all had the same issue

Can Samsung's QN90C 46" screen tvs have a Samsung Q990D or Q910D soundbar's center rest the top of the tv's stand while not blocking the tv's frame?
The TCL QM8 is a great alternative to the QN90C. Much better contrast because VA panel and many more local dimming zones.
theres more to it than specs on paper
@@Rawzix there always is
Yeah, but the VA panel viewing angles are terrible. Way too underrated a problem. Even if people usually don't watch TV in groups, livingrooms are still set up to host, which means the comfy spots are often in the corner of the couch outside of the viewing angle.
@@benthompson8683 naw viewing angles arent that bad. There isnt any noticeable degradation from my left and right seats compared to the middle seat of the couch. I havent seen an LED/LCD with what I would consider bad viewing angles in 10 or 15 years. Back in the day, those old rear projection tvs were terrible. You couldnt see a thing (an all grey washed out screen) if you went more than 20 or 30 degrees off angle. That is what I consider a bad viewing angle. Not a 10% drop in direct light output when 45° off axis.
@@benthompson8683 oh and my room is a dedicated room with two rows. A three seater couch for the front row and a two seat theatrical style loveseat for the back row. No one is wildly off axis.
Abby you are the best at TV reviews. I like your style it's very detailed and everything is made crystal clear 😊.
I'm thinking of getting this as a pc monitor for gaming as you can not get better HDR on a monitor at this price.
It's been the 2nd year since samsung didn't increase the zone counts. Let's hope that next year, they make significant changes.
TCL has eclipsed their zone count this year.
For such a high price it's very disappointing.
I'll say the tv does provide a great picture. Love the brightness and color. PS5 looks great and the colors on the Nintendo Switch looks amazing. My issue is the backlight bleed. I had back light bleed. Showed a pic of it to a member of bestbuys geek squad and he said he would return it so I did. The replacement had even worse backlight bleed. You don't always see it but it's something that can worsen. I've seen other people show photos of theirs with less then mine amd complaining yet I'd settle with what they had. Guess I'll be either exchanging it again or move up to the LG C3. I got it for $600 off so I'd prefer to keep this model for that reason and it is a great tv otherwise. Coming from a 2017 LG B7P OLED
I would love to see Rtings do a deep dive on the average living room dimensions, seating arrangement, and lighting. I don't think I've ever found a living room where viewing angles weren't a problem at the edge of the couch, much less with the ubiquitous "to old people in separate chairs" layout. Who's the target market for these VA panel TV's? Single people with no friends and one chair in a windowless apartment?
👀
I've had VAs in the living room for a long time now. Mounting on an arm mount solves vast majority of seating situations and I have a family of 4. You know 90%+ people aren't discerning enough to notice slight color washout unless you go out of your way to point it out. Most people won't notice it unless they're at an extreme oblique angle.
Been using VA panels for a decade. Even knowing their faults I still don't notice 99% of the time.
I mean a lot of that will depend on size and viewing distance. Most people don't sit really close to a giant tv so viewing angles generally aren't a problem. Obviously if you have a really tiny living room and want to put a massive tv in it, you will need to plan accordingly. But that is not most people.
Buyed the 43qn90c for ps5 gaming and as a big pc monitor will be delivered tomorrow, I hope it will work out for me.
We hope so too! Let us know what you think!
a WOled and Oled, with less brightness vs a high brightness tv like led qled, mini led qled vs upcoming microled TV which are also has self lighting features. Which one is perfect will survive longer?
Oled have more contrast in a room that doesn’t get a lot of sunlight oled will be nicer. Although mini led seems you can get a bigger screen for less money so if a big screen is wanted for a more affordable price mini led is the way to go! You can get the qn90c with 85 inch screen for $2200 a C3 oled is 3300 for 83 inch
I made the mistake of trying to use an OLED for a PC Desktop/Gaming TV. LOTS of burn in and there are many other characteristics of OLEDS I cant stand. This will most likely be my next display. The 55" is $997.99 on Crutchfield right now.
Is the blooming effect across all the qn90c sizes? Also, does it depend on the product you get you from retailer or its an issue across the board?
No, blooming is barely noticeable on my 85 qn90c. Only regret is not buying it after superbowl cause it got a big price drop. Mini led don't worry about picture image
I got the 55. It’s incredible.

I just setup my Samsung Q90C. Used the expert calibration. I am very picky with movies and sandy grainy issue on many movies and it depends on what I am watching. Any movies where there is a landscape scene intentional blurriness, like The Flash, there is a sandy grainy quality to the picture. The main subject comes in very clear and fine, especially video games. In one movie there was a panorama and the main subjects are walking in a valley the picture is quite grainy instead of the intended blur that you would get from looking at something from a distance. Absolutely show and plays games better than my 8 year old Samsung curved, but not movies. The old Samsung shows things in the distance with a proper blur not a grainy blur. How weird.
I’ve just setup the Q70C and the issue you are having with movies, I’m having in both movies and gaming. Very sandy grainy + blurriness. Almost like watching a video at 720p despite the screen and quality being set on 2160p
@NSX-ki4bd weird right?
@@j01150126 I had a technician come over and he said it is normal, not a defect. And he said “Honestly, this is normal, just increase your viewing distance up until you can’t see it anymore. @@HiddenDeadX I don't know about the blue colors. Mine looks pretty close to my a80j OLED. As for the motion. It doesn't bother me. I came from a worse VA panel monitor. This thing is an upgrade all around.
I've had my 43" for PC desktop now for a month. I sit in front of this for 10+ hrs a day, mainly for desktop work (not publishing type work though) and some gaming in the evening. Whilst it is not perfect, for me the advantages of this over the 32" 1440p monitor it replaced, far outweigh the disbenefits. Go for X90l!
I got a similar comparison between the same three(s90c, qn n x), and took me a week to decide to go with Sony due to its image processing upscale and brightness..though it has some blooming which can be seen
Sounds like OLED is the better option if you aren't afraid of burn in. The point of Min-LED is to have better blooming control but the QN90C can't even get that right even with the better hardware therefore defeats the purpose of getting it. I have an X90L, and an OLED monitor, both are good but at night I prefer my OLED even at the smaller size, and even though the upscaling doesn't look as amazing as on the X90L. How can anyone take VA or IPS?
What’s up with the bright spot in the lower left corner at 05:27?
Good question. That is strange......
@@asafblasbergvideographer it’s like a dimming zone died. Samsungs QC sucks
It's definitely wonky, but it's seems to be the lower left hidden task bar blooming 😰
One more thing this tv looses eye poping the further you get but guess what your living room is probably not 20 feet or longer this is the only down fall from a watching stand point the oled distance stays constant and crisp this is great to enjoy for like close up living room maby like 12 feet away oled goes strong at more angles but oled is kind of boring watched side by side no a big difference however the Best Buy guy blames the wi fi

Great gaming TV for PlayStation 5 and Xbox series x... QN 90b 2022 even better than 2023 c model
No 90c is beter
Could you please review the TCL C845? Happy to donate ❤
The 845 is ancient.
@@FURognar : (reading this while considering buying a C645 for my bedroom).
@@FURognarhalf a year and a TV is ancient? ok dude
@@Rawzix I was thinking of the Q825. The C845 must be a european model
Sony may have better processing, but my 2yr old Bravia died last year. UNREPAIRABLE! Totally insane to make such an expensive product be disposable! I was a sony fan for the past 30yrs, too.
The blooming is what ruins this TV, other then that it's nice
I have to disagree this tv is amazing the contrast is great almost 7 out of 10 upscale is at about a 6.8 the motion and brightness is were you want you don’t want an oled stale picture great uniformity yes great contrast yes exciting picture yes but it’s more like your watching something out of this world the qled is more like you ate a special candy and your in a movie big difference both great but this tv outranks Sony because Sony still has blooming on the 93l and is about perfect at the x95l but that’s top of the line and pictures get great detail and smoothness yet slightly lack enthusiasm towards the film goals
for some stupid reason X93L is NA only
Cope
but it lacks the reason for going for a Sony this year
shocked its an IPS panel
I heard it was ADS.
@@TimothyTurtle32 - Basically the same thing. ADS is a variant of IPS panel.
Improved variant...
@@Kryptic1046 A variant that doesn't have the problems of IPS. Which is something people seem to ignore.
is it worth saving a few hundred with the QN85C??
If you like a less glossy screen and slightly less pop. I went to the QN90c as the panel looks OLED like.
@@TimothyTurtle32 any regrets?
@oneandonly9010 None here! 55" and it look stunning! Not tried gaming yet though!
@@oneandonly9010 I love it! No regrets. Spent the entire day going through all the settings and compared side by side my 75 inch. Long as you have great bit rate / internet bandwidth the picture is amazing for an 85 inch. I was really concerned going from 75 to 85 over pixelation. The 90c over the 85c has a much glossier screen and worth the extra $$.
Over the long haul heck yes it's worth it
If LED tv's on their negatives appear 'some blooming' on OLED tv's should appear 'burn-in in just x months'
Did I just watch a Sony ad?
I went OLED now I can't go back
Yeah, like OLED pop but miss some details and some retention issues.
@@TimothyTurtle32 yea I understand that but them black bars be dark as night no light bleed a total joy to watch movies and game on it, I just can't go back but i know the OLED technology drawbacks definitely taken preventive measures
@@NuttnButKungfu True, but I'll deal with those issues rather than go back to QLED. Every time I do the difference is IMMEDIATELY apparent.
My living room mirror has less reflection than that !
Amy I am sorry but I disagree with your review. It Is terrible when it comes to glare!!! We close all of our window shades during the day time. In the evening we can’t use our table lamps because the glare is so bad. My wife and I fight over the best place to sit in order to avoid the glare! The Samsung channel selection system is slow, we are always waiting for the channel to show up. Yes we have great cable WiFi. Our doesn’t have any problematic in bedroom has great. I highly do not recommend this tv! I am about to sell and hope I get half my money back! Oh! I have advertise it the day it is working. It would be great for a gamer in a dark room sitting in front of tv! Great picture when you can see it!
So this was sponsored by Sony
Bros completely left out the motion interpolation.
Abby is a fantastic presenter. The way she does it so naturally is very rare. Not sure what she is paid, but my gut feeling tells me she needs a raise or she will be nubbed to another site. I think LMG could pay her much more and she'd might be a good fit!
Abby is a goddess.
My 2020 Samsung q90t is still as good and better than some of the newer tvs. Only Hisense u8k may be almost as good. This is according to comparing tvs on rtings.
The Q90T was part of Samsungs budget line. It was the beginning of the Samsung Slide, where they slid up the features while bluffing to the consumer that a 9 series was still a flagship, an 8 a upper mid tier, etc.
@cronoesify I know it is comparable to a q80r. I know people think it's not as good as the q90r. As you said, I bought it because I thought samsung qleds were going to slide in 2021. The qn 90a came out and was slightly better, and rtings still hold the q90t comparisons high in many specs except brightness and color volume. Mini qleds are cheaper now.
@@charlesmyers8150 the QN90B and QN90A were definitely more comparable to the Q90R. I prefer the Q9FN because it doesn't have that disastrous wide angle filter that they instituted.
But when their flagship 9 series is rocking, what, 80 to 120 dimming zones? That's astonishingly bad.
Either way, the QN90C is another cacophony of tech trade offs that feel like another Samsung Slide in action.
Sony just took it this year.
You forgot to mention the extreme ghosting on the 43" model.
It's making me return it, it's so distracting and uncomfortable to watch. How can people keep ignoring this? Almost nothing looks smooth. It all looks glitchy. When someone waves his arm from up to down you can still see the arm in 50% opacity while it's up on like 8 locations it's been moving at, while it's actually already down. It's unacceptable to me.
Werid - I don't see this at all on my 43" - my eyes could be retarded though. :D Video play back is free from ghosting and I also play a fair amount of pixel art retro games, and you'd notice smearing/ghosting on that very easily....... it's very clear for me and I'm not even using BFI.
Turn on interpolation. Grade 3 is the best setting for that
@@bojti33 Can't do that while in game mode, and when that's off i still can't access it for some unknown reason, while i have been able to before, also with game mode on. Pretty sure i tried those settings before and they didn't fix/help it. And that might've been the setting that made the screen very noticably flicker.
@@HiddenDeadX if it's like the QN90b, you will need to put the TV in the "Faster" game mode setting as "Fastest" turns off ALL the motion processing for that low input latency and it looks ROUGH. "Faster" gives you SLIGHTLY more latency but still a bit less than "Fast". For those with the QD OLED, you can put it on "Fastest" all day and it'll still be totally fine with no adverse effects.
