Thanks John and yes I think 1985 was worse than this but only just. I haven’t attempted any queen rearing this year and probably won’t now as I have to start preparing for the move to the heather.
Hello Trevor! The bigger the number of colonies, the bigger the possibility of some troubles. But we are just humans. And we never can accurately foresee the future events. Especially in a bee colony. You are a great and hardworking beekeeper. Therefore don't be disappointed and don't give up!. Absolutely Colin as I am also thinking it may not ever get any better. I had a worse year in the mid 80’s but this may come a close second. Hoping for a miracle.🤞
I've had 4 queens, in lay just disapear this week, all from the same yard ! weather has been up n down like a yoyo.. have you had many absconds this year..
I’m not aware of any absconding but it may be happening unnoticed by me. Every day I find something that I can’t explain! I was beginning to think it was just me.😂
You make a very fair point there , thank you. I had some issues with my phone and didn’t realise until I was editing. I almost didn’t put this one out because of it but decided to go in the end. I hope to correct this problem in the future. Thank you for your input.👍

What do you do these hives in heavy rains???
They just have to stay where they are when they’ve got all the boxes on.
We hope not to be flooded in the summer but it can happen.
