Madame Web Reviews FALLOUT Critics DESPISE Industry Changes

  • Madame Web reviews came out and proved the Box office right for Sony's Marvel Spider-man universe movie. Despite Disney and Disney+ not being part of this separate MCU esque superhero movie, it suffered the same fate. Pulling in less at the box office than Morbius, Spiderman spinoff Madame Web is having knock on effects. But despite the critics reviews agreeing with the audience and Dakota Johnson, will the critics like the industry changes? Is Madame Web worth watching?

Madame Web is the movie that keeps on giving. When a movie is this much of a box office crash everyone dives in to try and work out, but why? Well with great introspection comes great excuses, because they all realise why it failed, they just don't want the inevitable consequences of the industry realising them. Even websites whose critics loved the movie are having to agree that....the other reviews are right. And with industry insiders coming out with the data of who actually goes to the cinema to see these movies. Is it time the industry changed? Or will they realise the problem, and then just ignore it to double down? Let me know your thoughts down below and always, thanks for watching :)

I can’t work it out for the life of me. At some point the bottom line has to count. I understand the tactic of using the DEI shield to preemptively provide excuses for poor box office performances but there has to come a point when their DEI score matters less than their profits/losses.

What's even worse is that they changed the famous Spider-Man quote from "With great power comes great responsibility," to "When you take the responsibility, great power will come." Sounds more like a villain's line, not a superhero.

Even in the 90s when Bat-nipples put the fear of god in any studio wanting to do superhero movies (that's why those early films got very little budget and less studio interference) they scrambled to get back on track. I mentioned Supergirl, Catwoman, and Elektra (which was in the cinema at that moment). The women cried back "They don't count!" When I asked why, they responded that those movies weren't blockbusters like Superman 1978 or Batman 1989, etc.

Kraven was a hunter of big game. He was also an aristocrat and related to another Spiderman villain the Chameleon. He used special herbs to enhance his senses. Eventually he went insane and having failed to kill Spiderman took his own life. In the comics he was definitely one of the more interesting characters but not enough to make a movie about.

Kraven doesn't make much sense without Spider-Man. Core part of this character is obsession with Spider-Man. Greatest story with Kraven, "Kraven's Last Hunt", revolves around Siergiei replacing Peter Parker as Spider-Man. If they follow the pattern of making movies with Spider-Man characters without Spider-Man, there's no hope for these movies.

That was not a huge movie, but her character was more than decent. And the whole movie had some decent wheels under it. Maybe a little lean toward the thinking thriller for major audiences.
All I am saying is she should look at what she did there and maybe look for scripts that could echo that sort of feel. Apparently it didn't make budget, but made $7 million opening weekend. Forever now Hollywood has put bad scripts in fron of good and decent actors and ruined careers. She can be another brick in that wall or make a mark in front of the Chinese place. Sony's biggest problem outside of just making bad "Spidey adjacent" films is that Spider-Man is not in them.
Any true Spidey fan would kill for a Spidey/Kraven film, Spidey/Venom film, Spidey/Black Cat film etc etc. But these characters alone just can't attract the same attention without Spidey involved and specially being outside of the main MCU also doesn't help

Now we get crap like Secret Wars , or Echo, or Madame Web, which are barely like the comics, where they change up powers/backstory/who the character IS completely., just to shoehorn in what the writers want to say and not what the source material says. Where writers say they didn't like or didn't even read the source material so they just make stuff up! Now we get Kraven, where instead of a egotistical, insane guy who thinks he is the ultimate Chad and wants to literally hunt and kill Spider-Man, we get some tree hugger bitten by a radioactive lion (or something) That's NOT Kraven! Superhero fatigue is just one of many reasons why superhero films are disliked now. Another reason is taking a character, ignoring their backstory and lore to create a mediocre film with a so called message.

Of course, Madame Web is low-hanging fruit. But I have GOT to share with with family. Your research was spot on. Combined with Doomcock's and Film Threat's recent revelations that the film and TV industry is quickly going to DIE over DEI woke writers, this vid has secured its place in the "Classics" for me. Thanks!

As someone who wanted to get into comics but never did, because my parents didn’t like it, and there weren’t really any places around me that sold them,
I am certain of two things:
    1. There have to be excellent female-superhero led comic book stories out there somewhere, and
    2. Hollywood is, at this point in time, basically incapable of doing those stories any sort of justice.

19:20 -- RE: Craven-as-Character; AKA Craven the Hunter. I'm not an expert on the various supporting characters in the Marvel universe, but I happen to know Craven in particular because of the Marvel "What If" series of comic books. One of those was "What If Craven Killed Spiderman?" and it's probably one of the top-selling issues of that series.

One person I know tells me "well, you're a copywriter, do you remember every line and article you've ever written?". Not the same, I don't think any actor has tens of thousands of roles...
