Write an OUTSTANDING LinkedIn Summary (with Examples)!

😲 In order to Write an Outstanding LinkedIn Summary, one must first look at existing successful examples and templates, and understand that there are no "one-size-fits-all" LinkedIn Summaries. Depending on who you are - Job Seeker, Working Professional, Entrepreneur, or Thought Leader, you would need to position yourself differently in your about section.
Each segment has its own best practices, examples, and templates, but regardless of how you want to position yourself, the objective of your LinkedIn bio is the same: To compel your target audience - whoever they may be - to reach out to you instead of the other way around.
The LinkedIn Summary template for Job Seekers and Working Professionals follow a simple 3-step structure:
(1) Intro line
(2) Case Study bullet points
(3) Ending
Finally, I also share 5 practical tips (such as using word cloud generators to identify relevant keywords) that you can apply immediately to your LinkedIn Summary!

In light of just receiving my certificates, I updated my profile recently. I'm searching for IT jobs as a fresher, but I have no idea what the most desirable roles are at the moment! While I have a background in the arts, I am really interested in the IT field.

Hi Melany - I wouldn't worry too much about re-submitting, but as I mention in my networking videos, if I were you I would try my best to connect with the recruiter / hiring manager / someone working in the role to get an "inside track" as opposed to blindly applying online!

Hi Jeff, your videos are just AMAZING!!! I have been updating everything following your videos. But in this case, being a marketer with little experience, I wonder what I could put in the intro and bullet points because I had a hard time coming up with a few metrics in my previous jobs and they would be the same over and over again, in the About section, in the experience section and again in the resume (and also in the interview). I have no idea how other people in my class have done. I simply know that I have always gotten an A in every class and I am ahead of every deadline. I have always been an above average student but I cannot see a way to actually compare myself with others. but thanks! I hope to take these ideas and focus on getting an internship

Hi, Jeff, I think you are a reliable youtuber when it comes to job hunting, and even better than my university career coach. I want to ask is it the summary must have to be job/industry-specific?
I am a final year student and I have some career paths I am interested in like management/graduate trainee position or admin position or advisory position, in which many don't have specific major requirement. And they can be from the conglomerate industry, property industry etc.
As I don't have one very specific job/industry I am aiming at since I don't want to eliminate out too many options in this competitive market, so, I am still confused about how to write my linkedin summary. Is there a less job/industry-specific linkedin summary example/ writing method?
It's a good question my friend. In your case I'd identify 3-5 skills that would be applicable across the top 3 industries you're interested in and start from there 😁

Hmm. Would the unicode bolding cause issues with LinkedIn's search indexing? Because those characters aren't actually bolded letters, they're characters that look similar to bolded characters. Which means that unless LinkedIn is sanitizing/converting them into normal ascii it may become invisible to the search.
That's actually a really good point Ebsolas...I don't know 😅. I guess "standing out" offsets some of the issues with search indexing?
