Long time subscriber and watch most of your videos. I also share a big passion for knives. Recently I’ve been really into protech. Have you ever owned a brend 2? I picked one up not that long ago and have been curious about your opinions on it. I think it’s super under rated and I think depending on your philosophy of use, you would really dig it. In my opinion it’s at the very top of my list for the perfect gentlemen’s carry for people in office settings.

I have the 9400, I am color blind so when I bought it I thought it was black and it’s still black to me. I bought it at the factory in Oregon City and it was an awesome experience! I give them a 100 out of 100 for customer service.

After the bill was signed to allow conceal and open carry in Ohio, I am proud to have this baby as 1 of my 3 edc babies. Razor sharp. Cuts like a champ. For not being a fan of out the side autos and actually disliking the recent released Claymore, the auto osborne is my favorite knife I have ever owned. It's beautiful. It fires like a champ. Minimal if not 0 blade play. Solid, and I mean absolutely solid. Razor sharp. I mean it. Definitely worth mentioning it is lighter and i mean lighter than it seems it would be for the weight shown here in the video. The auto osborne is actually from my experience the sharpest knife I've ever had just after it was taken out of the box. 5 star rating. Best out the side auto on the market.

I've had mine for a week and love it. The only gripe I had is I had to add locktite because it kept developing lots of blade play. It doesn't come with locktite from the factory which I find dumb.

Hey Metal, I think the gentleman's name is Troy from Beanchmade he said because it the 20th anniversary of the 940 they kept the 9400 in its original colors, if i herd the interview right. So maybe that's the reason. Hope that helps :))

There’s something oddly elegant about green/purple color scheme with the satin finish blade. Very reminiscent of William Dafoe’s green goblin, I like it, very nostalgic in that sense. I just ordered this from blade hq so I’m excited to add it to my collection. I will not be using this knife as my work and field folder, because I generally prefer assisted opening knives for field work over automatic knives. That being said I do plan on carrying it regularly as a cleaner, nicer looking knife to carry when I go out.

Just ordered one of these with overnight shipping and I'm pretty excited. I just got into knife collecting and this is my third nice knife, definitely most expensive too. I just found out that 2 years ago, the Michigan governor at the time made autos legal. I'm going to carry one of these now. Been carrying a pm2 and the only downside to switching to this is I'll lose the fidget factor with the compression lock on the pm2.

You can loosen the pivot and the screws that hold the sides together and push the scales opposite directions (one toward the blade and one away) and then tighten. My 940 wasn't perfect from factory but a little nudge fixed it.

Just ordered that same exact Torx Kit Box Set…so many knife enthusiasts told me to pick one up…I like the driver you have as well but am told using a small stubby driver is a bad idea for over tightening but I’m ordering that driver anyway. :)
I am on the fence with the Benchmade 9400Bk Automatic. I own the 551BK Griptilian as well as the mini version and love the full size 511BK the best for my longer piano fingers.
I really want to add another EDC to my collection and am looking at this one in the video…however after I saw your video where you discussed the 560BK-1 FREEK I may be going with that one.
I just LOVE the fact that this one is auto…that would be so satisfying to open.😎
Decisions…I have time to think it over. 🤔

My coworker bought one and I’m pretty sure it’s a fake. I noticed it rebounds when you open it. It came in a black box with a plastic wrapper kinda like a cellophane that makes the crinkling sound and I don’t recall that on my 940. The big thing is the I’m assuming Chinese type text on one part of the box which it shouldn’t have. I have 4 Benchmade knives and I don’t think any had any type of Asian style text anywhere that I recall.

I just grabbed my 9400 and I noticed mine is darker in fact the color matched up exactly with my 940. My guess is that 9400 is a first production they charged the ano to make it stand out. But BM does so weird stuff sometimes. The 940-2 dosen't have the typical V shape behind the pivot it's more of a lazy U. It's probably something nobody ever noticed but once you see it, it will bug the hell out of you.

Yes it does. The safety only prevents you from accidently pushing the button and disengaging the lockup. Though it is not likely to happen, because the button has to be pressed with some force and for some way before it disengages. But a cool feature if you want to be 100% sure during a heavier task. And it is really well hidden on the 9400!

I own one of these and have to wholeheartedly agree the color scheme is rather gross. Purple with this green makes no sense. I know like you said it is suppose to be a throwback from a bygone era. But if that knife was this ugly it is no wonder why it has been discontinued.
I changed some things on mine like the backspacer and a few other minor details. At least I do not see the disturbing green and purple ( wtf were they thinking?) .
What would be super cool is if they made this with a midnight metallic blue or a carbon fiber version or fat carbon fiber with black and red , two tone blue, black and blue or two different carbon fiber schemes and a damascus blade of some sort.
I am seriously considering stripping this down and shooting a new paint scheme onto the outside of scales and change my backspacer again
Candy apple red with a pearlescent black backspacer ( which I would have to paint) or a Halloween scheme of some sort as I am a huge fan of the Halloween holiday. Hand paint the headless horseman or Crypt Keeper.
Anyway once again I am rambling on.
I do like this knife I will also admit I hate the as I said but also was beyond shocked when I felt its weight for the first time.very light which also makes the recoil truly feel so much more powerful. Yet I also own a Ckaymore which is lighter and doesn't kick this hard at all.
