- "Local Legends" features the story of bandurria maker Dante de Guzman. He recalls how he learned to build bandurria and how he started working at Bandilla Musical Instruments Company. Then, he shows the process of building a bandurria. Later, he talks about the health risks associated with his job that caused his brother's death and why China poses a threat to the local musical instruments market. Finally, he shares how his town's guitar-making tradition is being passed on to the next generation.

ABS CBN, you should make more of these, and celebrate Filipino craftsmanship.
Agreed. This is what I like about their channel.
For me he is not just a local legend... dapat sa kanya national treasure. a national artist.
Support local products
Oo nga...ang galing niya :D
I'm so proud that i still play Bandurria up until now and teach the youths in our parish.
Proud to be Kapampangan Quality over quantity puso. Makaproud kopu sir
I worked on the same shop(Bandilla)few years back when I was in high school(as my summer job). All I can say is that all of their products are strongly built(hand-made) from Basic Guitars to the most sophisticated Bandurria. Life is good back then, support local.
The Philippines government must protect this Craftsmen.
Ganito dapat mga documentary. Galing.. Support din natin local made guitars.
This man is truly a legend. He's from old school skill and he could be the last of his kind. Guitar making industry started in the 1900's in Pampanga. Pampanguenos can be considered as the first to make guitars and other string instruments in the Philippines.
Beautiful inlay on the Guitar's rosette! What a very skilled Filipino Luthier. the craftsmanship reigns supreme! Very meticulous and dedicated to his craft. Ang galing ni Mr. Dante de Guzman! World class skilled Luthier! God bless! This documentary makes me want to buy one and learn to play it. I can only play a 12-string guitar. A Banduria has 14 strings on an even smaller sound box and a shorter neck.
when im watching this, i remember my father, he also a guitar maker,,any kind of string instruments kaya din gawin ng tatay ko,, miss you papa,, sna happy ka jan sa heaven..
This is what makes great Luthiers. The Craftsmanship is Amazing. I’ll look for this guy and buy one. #LoveLocal
😊😊😊
Yessir! Yung iba ang tanung agad magkano sweldo?. Magkano sweswelduhin ko??. Kahit wala pang gawa eh
When po kayo bibili hahahaha

To my fellow Filipinos please patronize our own local products ❤️

Based on my research.. dyan sa Pampanga talaga nagsimula..
Handcrafted piece of Art! Awesome Creation by Our very Own KABABAYAN. OUTSTANDING ! nothing compares 2 you Sir Dante De Gusman. I Salute tou Sir!
Big respect for this great luthier.
What an excellent documentary. Thank you for celebrating our Local Legends, giving them the honor they deserve, and preserving their craft.
Local Legends Corrupt : Bong Revilla , Juan Ponce Enrille

This is what you call a craftsman, he proves thst you don't need high tech equipment, just simple tools to create the instruments.
This is a surprisingly excellent documentary. Well done, ABS-CBN.

I came from a musical family, I play woodwind instruments, my sister plays the piano and violin, but my other sister gulat kami pinili nyang tumugtog ng bandurria (since, we play western instruments) and joined a rondalla group. Now she can play bandurria, octavina and the laud. Which is amazing!

Safety first po.

Is it you? 6:11 pm exactly! I wanted to be there this afternoon, but I didn’t feel well.
I haven’t seen you in a while. I don’t want to go there & be disappointed again, like last week.
Matagal magpasadya pero worth it. I used to play octavina when I was in Elementary.
this makes me appreciate the makers more😌😌😌😌
Proud to be Kapampangan...metung ko pung alamat .
Saludo at hanga po ako sa husay at talento nyo sa pag gawa Ng banduria.
Continue the tradition and make quality musical instruments. Don't let others (chinese and self centered interests part of the government) ruin your style and expertise in making quality guitars. God will bless you.

Love from US! Miss ko na mag Bandurria! 😭
I still remember my first guitar that's made there in San Anton by the Lumanog.. salamat po
Sa Cebu ang lumanog since 1908. Lumanog family only came from Pampanga.
