CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Superman (Christopher Reeve) swoops in to save Ricky (Paul Kaethler) at the last second from a harvester combine.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In a major departure from the tone of the preceding two Superman adventure films, this mix of vile deeds and fantasy heroics drops the "S" out of cosmic and goes for comic instead. Right at the starting gate, Gus Gorman (Richard Pryor) and a subsequent slapstick sequence upstage (Christopher Reeves again), who later develops an identity crisis. Gorman, newly trained as a computer whiz, starts working for a conglomerate run by the corporate nemesis Ross Webster (Robert Vaughn), intent on world domination. Gorman is sent to Superman's small town of Smallville to wipe out Columbia's coffee crop by fiddling with the computer side of a weather satellite. Clark Kent is in town for his class reunion, leading Superman to clash with Gorman, which in turn, leads Gorman to develop a hybrid red Kryptonite. Unwittingly, since Gorman's wits are always in doubt, the Red Kryptonite causes Superman to split into a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde schizophrenia -- but in two separate bodies. As the evil Superman swaggers around town, megalomaniac Ross Webster has other tricks in mind -- and in one of the more memorable action scenes (interspersed with a video game sequence), Superman is chased through the Grand Canyon by a fast-flying, very determined missile. Lana Lang (Annette O'Toole) is on hand for romantic interest (Margot Kidder only appears briefly -- she was growing tired of Lois Lane).

I love where Ricky goes “Superman” and Superman goes “ that’s me”
But I can't give u an autograph Caz, u might put it on eBay....
Mad props to Clark Kent for finding the dog! Really super job there!
Christopher Reeve was always the best at his disguise. I loved his portrayal of Superman. 🥰
Yeah am agree whit that he was the best and still the best SUPERMAN
best superman worst movies.
Only if you knew how long things take and what intuition people do in there real lives
I'll just say, that even though it is string-work, I find this Superman's flying to be more satisfying than CGI Henry Cavil*?. This looks more like what it would feel like to take off into the air. Smooth, slow jump forward without falling. It just looks more natural, and graceful; you can relate more to that than Henry exploding off an ice burg with a sonic boom, or just floating up.
@@calebb8355 Yeah practical effects are better, Thats why I'm happy Gunn said Superman Legacy will have practical sets unlike Blue/green screen Snyder used
i was 6 years old at the pictures watching this,RIP Christopher Reeve, you was a legend 🙏
Dang that's crazy! You gotta be at least 100 years old right?
What was world war 1 like sir
I don’t mind other actors who want to play Superman but the thing is Chris Reeve had the look and more critically knew how to play Clark spot on! He is definitely missed - god bless!
As a Black little boy, he was my first hero. A true example of hope, truth, and justice. Superman, aka Christer Reeves made you believe a man can fly and do some many amazing things. I hope James Gun, will incorporate scenes of great transformation and flying scenes and leaps into sky like Richard Donner did because that are jist some of the things that made Superman amazing in the live action movies!
There will never be another superman like Chris Reeve❤
Reeve, not Reeves
cavill??he's also good
Henry Cavill?
@@akosidogie9011 Cavill is more like the injustice version

1:08 love the look Supes gives to the driver, "open ya eyes man, what are you thinking?!"
He asked him if he was okay? How was he supposed to know
I didn't care for that scene
The combine drivers can’t see things buried under the wheat.
CHRISTOPHER REEVE WAS THE PERFECT SUPERMAN... DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT!!!👏👏👏
RIP SUPERMAN!!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
He is the one and only and irreplaceable. Perfect clumsy clark kent and gentleman and complete transformation when in superman mode
It legit brings tears to my eyes watching these Christopher Reeve clips. I grew up watching him as Superman!
Christopher Reeve sir u are needed once again.
He’s not dead
@@jimsprigg7931 As long as we remember him
Superman always made me smile saving lives and doing good especially saving children
Superman always alive in our heart. He is superhero...greetings from Malaysia
The boy got rescued by his favorite super hero, and flee off before the boy could thank him?🥺

Love it he's our TRUE HERO ❤️
How I wish people were like that in real life..
You gotta love how part of the clark act is him being annoyed at Superman always making his personal life a living hell.
Reeve improved his annoyance in that moment too.
Reeve was perfect for the part.. Even how he slouches at the end of this video.. it looks like he has a dad bod...but when superman he is ripped...
I think that was more being annoyed at being constantly asked for his autograph as Superman.
I like how Ricky was 50 miles deep in a wheat field before anyone cared to check on him.
🤣🤣🤣
That's the 80s for ya
@@Zreen001 ...best decade ever. I'm glad to surviive it. I may have had a few close calls as a kid though.
and he was clearly visible to the driver from a distance, that driver could have stopped in time on his own,
Welcome to Gen X.
Man i can be young i and grew up with different supermans as Brandon, Tom and henry but when i see Christopher Reeve i understand why everyone loves him HE IS SUPERMAN ! In every single way possible
The thing about Christopher Reeve that every other actor who played Superman simply lacks is the charm and earnestness he possessed.
many people dont know but reeves was classically trained stage actor out of nyc he had the pedigree to pull off the role seamlessly with charm and charisma
Not Brandon Routh though
कबQएकQकAAAआआकAक
Tyler Hoeclins kinda chad too
100%. I looked up to both the character and the man who played him.
The way Reeve moves his arms and body in the flying scenes makes everything work. So different than the last couple of actors.... They are simply still with their fist closed.
He was an accomplished aviator and horseman in real life, and brought his experience to the screen
Its how i fly in my dreams 😂😂😂 same movements
"We were flying, mom!"
"Lucky you didn't float."
OMG Im dying!!! i cant stop laugphing
To think the actress who played Lana in Superman 3 would play Martha Kent years later on Smallville
But what about the kid who played Ricky? He should be in his late 40s, right?
I think he is
I think he died 😕
We all die!
@Robert Scalchi It's Annette O'Toole. She is married to Michael McKeon. He played Perry White on Smallville in a couple later seasons and he played the police chief of the NYPD in Little Nicky
reeve smile is awsome
Christopher Reeve was an angel
1:48 love how Sup always uses this tactic to selectively respond to what he wants to and take off 😂
I love what Clark says at the end, which isn't included in this clip, If he had a nickel for every time he was asked that ... always makes me chuckle. Miss you still, Chris, always ... I have Superman III on blu ray, great movie.
Ricky was like a mile into that field
I swear every time I watch this it just gives me goosebumps a lot of nostalgia I used to watch this all the time as a kid this movie was ahead of itself
QaaaaáffhaaadghcvbnaaDFGHHCCAAASFGGGHJJKKKÑCVVVBBBADDDFFFGHJCZCVBBNASDFFFFGGVHHHHHJ DE
0:10 I have literally just noticed the sound wave coming from Clark's ear.
Yeah same here, funny how we notice these things as adults, but as kids we totally miss it, lol
That’s his WiFi signal
This was added for the DVD/bluray version and this clip. It was never in the originals, which is why nobody ever noticed it :)
@donny Mckinnon why did it seem Superman strained a little and worn out holding back tractor?he looked winded for a second.
@@marky1919 incorrect ....it was in the original movie, my friends and I noticed it at the time and thought it was a pretty cool effect back then.
Loved George Reeves as Superman on the little screen and i loved Christopher Reeve as Superman on the big screen.
as a late 70's baby - 80's...THIS IS SUPERMAN! FIGHT ME!
That dog really helped to save Ricky too.
Yeah bc the dog made the noises and superman has hearing visions to hear far away when he heard the dog he sense the dogs so he went to the dog wait no the dog was not with him so how did the dog help? Welp i wasted your time if u read this eeeee

Yes, they are wonderful and very beautiful films, and we will never forget them, the wonderful Superman and McGiver as well, and Clean Destude Al-Western. These are really very beautiful childhood days.
I just realized that superman put buster there to cover for him not being there at the same time as superman...so smart
did he fly back and get buster?
@@stevejacobs4246 I was wondering the same thing about that Buster thing. Also, as Superman was flying towards a wounded Ricky, it looks as though he flew for many miles, lol. The wheat field obviously wasn't that big.
@@jeffo9396 Maybe unintentional, but you did make me laugh with your comment!
@@stevejacobs4246 Probably. I guess Buster chickened out and didn't want to guard Ricky anymore.
Clark comes back, his clothes drenched in blood. “Um Ricky, I’ve got some bad news about Buster…”
I absolutely love this movie. It’s so bad but in the most charming way lol
It wasnt bad...just not appealing enough....but if you compare it with superman IV then this movie is many times better
@@JacobChacko3008 definitely
Superman III and Superman I are my favourite films. Superman 4 I watch when I am sick with a cold. Superman 2 I can't get into because of the romance subplot. But then again, we have Terance Stamp demanding people kneel down before him.
Is not bad at all i can see this movie hundred times and never get bored
I never knew that a simple pair of glasses could be such an effective disguise 😂
2nd favorite scene... the helicopter will always be number one
@Project Lee 7,000จวบจนรตส์
Man I remembered this scene. When I was 4 in 2008 I watched this. So much memories
There is only one superman in my mind and that’s Christopher Reeves and not only a Superman in the movies but in real life. He may be gone physically but not in my heart
Bro u just said what’s in my heart too.
37 now. Maaan i grew up on these!!! Brings back so many memories!! Chills wow these versions are great❤
Amo toda essa estética dos anos 80, AMO!!!
Yes
1:10 that look he gave the kid in the combine!
I love this guy.. He pass away
I did like how Lana was enamoured with Clark rather than Superman, as Lois was always into Superman.
:34 my favorite transformation besides the alley change in SII.
MMAFighter38 0:34
Those are great. I also liked the revolving door in the first transformation. It was made even better by the pimp complementing his duds.
@@joerules829 that was a great transformation despite not being discreet.
You just know when he shruggs and moves his glasses hes very familiar with kids excitement when they asked to get an autograph from superman
Chris was ripped in this movie!!! 💪💪💪
Que hermoso me transporto a mi niñez ....no me perdia ninguna
The flying scene of him skimming over the field is insane. It looks better than anything that’s out today.
It would be a CG double with hell a' annoying camera shake!
no it does not
@@LewisJamieson6 lmao. Okay
Because it's actually Reeve suspended above the field in real life. The man was a physical marvel.

Wonderful take offs in this clip
Superman totally disses the wheat farmer driver!
This was filmed in Alberta. I remember passing by this area when me, my brother and sisters and our parents vacationed in Alberta in 1989, 1990 and 1992
@Mr Lex I know. I was 9 years old that year
I finally found this scene! I first saw this when I was 10 years old and had no idea from which movie it was
2:06 That fast a take off to bury himself in a hole looking for a dog LOL
q maravillo recuerdo de mi adolescencia amo esta hermosa serie superman 1,2,3,..recordar es volver a vivir..
Hopefully never to lose that an keep on entertaining
This is the best scene from the movie, in my opinion.
I alway love superman
Christopher Reeve will always be superman
Just because he's dead it means he's superman?
So Hitler is dead it means he's a God? Since he's the reason millions died lol

Dude I used to love these movies like 7 years ago
Es el mejor.superman para mi.
Wow Ricky really wandered off for Superman to take so long to rescue!
So in that short period between dropping the boy off and being in the tunnel, he flew back to get the dog, changed, and hid. That’s fast!
That look he gives the driver... 😡
Well it's not the drivers fault, i don't think superman was upset at him, just gave him a look as if to say, hey there's a kid here, hard to blame the guy, in a field of wheat.
@Skipper8472 Which is totally unfair because Superman went on to plough Lana.
That boy walk along way!!!
The father who loves his son Super and SUPERMAN 💕💕💕
1:03 You can see his wires. Waaaah! 😭
“We were flying mom”
Mom: “what were you doing anyway??”😂

The best Superman
Best part of Chris Reeves is that he played Clark to a tee
No other actor paid good enough homage to him than Reeves did
the glasses does it all
I just love Superman III...so intense!
Ricky gets knocked unconscious and has a big cut on his head but Superman ruffles his hair 😂
Superman?
That's me!
Love that saying. I do my best to live by this man's example.
He always changed into Superman real cool
R.I.P. Christopher Reeve, The world misses you dearly!
