"He is nothing to me." ...because compared to the other villains Kiryu has gone up against, Iwami IS nothing. Really, his main goal behind what he did was so he could prove to his daddy and the rest of the world he could be a big, bad Yakuza. And to a certain extent he proved he could make the cut in his scheming behind the scenes and in his utter ruthlessness (taking Kiyomi hostage to force Someya into fighting against Kiryu during the finale, and also not thinking twice about threatening Kiryu's adopted daughter and her six-month old son to try and get an advantage), but ultimately when it came down to a battle of strength, he couldn't match up to a guy half dead on his feet. I mean, look at Iwami's back tattoo. It's a Bai Ze, a creature usually associated with medicine and healing. Kiryu says earlier in the story that a Yakuza's tattoo is meant to represent the ideals they want to show to the rest of the world...and a Bai Ze hardly seems appropriate for someone who casually drags civilians and innocents into a Yakuza conflict. I wouldn't be surprised if Iwami chose it just because he liked the look of it. Though, this track is awesome, and it's fitting for the final battle of the Dragon of Dojima's saga.

There are plenty of characters who became Yakuza for some ideal they hold true to, but Iwami just wants to be a Yakuza to show his dad what he's capable of. Though I guess Kurusu was right when he told his son that he couldn't handle the Yakuza world...only a matter of time before someone stronger than you comes along and wipes the floor with you.

@@punishednerosparda2958 Ryuji got whooped twice by Kiryu. Mine seemed to be the strongest of the final bosses. He fought an intact Kiryu and left him breathless and bruised. The only times Kiryu ended up in worst state from a final boss were in 2 and 5, due to him being shot by someone else beforehand. Ryuji is sort of like Kuze, where they pick a fight with someone stronger, lose and then keep coming back for more.
This is not iwamis theme. It’s kiryus final theme. The theme of him annihilating an utter joke of a yakuza with a tattoo that doesn’t even represent his own ideals. Bai Ze is associated with medicine and healing. But iwami is a scheming prick, so he’s doing the Bai Ze a huge disservice.
Maybe it also says something about corruption, since Iwami had the ability to help and heal others, no doubt he could’ve chosen a better path but instead took the worst one possible because he resented his father for wanting a stable life for him, and Iwami put his own selfish desires for power and glory above everything else. Including the meaning of his tattoo. It also calls back to Yakuza 2 where Kiryu reminds the tattoo artists that the owner of the tattoo forged their own path, and they can only interpret their potential with their art.

He no matter what anyone says, he was a powerful Yakuza member, he pretty much had a chunk of the Tojo Clan in his grasps and his own clan following him. I bet if Kiryu did not interfere and stop Iwami. Iwami would have taken over all of Tojo and Omi alliance completely. I mean Iwami was the controlling power in his Yakuza family, he was the CEO of a shipping company and anyone that owns a shipping company is mega rich and has ton of political push. He was also involved with politicians too and was mega corrupt.
I honestly felt that Iwami was a good villain and final boss. He was ruthless, he had a ton of power in the Yakuza world, but at the same time he was a CEO of a shipping company, and if anyone is familiar with shipping companies in real life like that, they make a huge crap ton of money. Not to mention he most likely had political ties too at the same time, and he could pretty much fight too.
Iwami is the anti-Kiryu. - Iwami doesn't care about his family and just saw his father as another stepping stone, while Kiryu cares deeply about his family and would sacrifice himself for their sake. - Iwami has no honor and will use anyone to further his own ambition, even if they are civillians or innocent. Kiryu has a sense of honor and would never attack a civillian unless they harm others or force him. - Iwami manipulates and use others to get the dirty job done (Someya being a good example of this) while Kiryu always tackles his opponents head on and takes on all the challenges by himself. Iwami is just the perfect antagonist to end the Kiryu saga on, because he is the one antagonist Kiryu has 0 respect for (I would argue even Shibusawa had some respect from Kiryu) and Iwami is also the first time Kiryu attacks someone with the intention of murdering him (well there is also Shibusawa, but that was doing the hot headed punk Kiryu days, while this is Kiryu who has matured a ton). This is the same guy who has never killed anyone and has grown so mature and wise from all his experiences, for him to be pushed to the point where he just wants Iwami dead says a lot about what he thinks about Iwami. He is a real piece of shit who doesn't even deserve a tattoo, and he is "nothing" to Kiryu because he embodies everything Kiryu hates in a person. I loved Iwami as a final boss, because unlike all of the other ones where you could at least respect them, there is nothing to like about him.
another thing i really like about this boss is that basically every likable yakuza villain in the series would put lead through his skull for a lot of different reasons. kuze ryuji (and watase kinda) would both kill iwami because they both hate cowardly yakuza that only plan to the top. mine would kill iwami because he put daigo in jail and he is similar to kanda, a guy that was so annoying to mine that he killed him and ended the nishikiyama family for good. aizawa would cap him because he is a true example of a guy that got all of the power from his father but doesnt hold up to anything

The tattoo thing is a waste of design then, could be carried by someone like Kazama or another characters that represents a pilar of faith to Kiryu

巌見は極道の力学構造の終着点であり、時代が生んだ怪物です。桐生は極道の栄光、光を背負っておりますが、巌見は極道の惨めさ、暗黒面を象徴しております。
日本の現実のヤクザをよく知る人から見れば、巌見は現代社会の理想的なヤクザです。法とビジネスに精通し、金儲けが上手く、抗争ではなく陰謀で他勢力を弱体化させる卑劣な男。一方で桐生は、古い日本の映画産業が産んだヤクザ像の末裔です。桐生と巌見の対決は、理想と現実の対決でもあります。
そして桐生は、自分も含めたヤクザという存在が大切な人たちを苦しめてきた歴史を終わらせるために、自ら命を捧げたのです。ヤクザの光が、ヤクザの闇を抱いて共に消滅することで、ヤクザのしがらみから皆んなを解放しようとした。“皆んなのためにも自分は消えるべきだし、お前も一緒に消えるべきだ”というわけです。
RGGはヤクザに反対する立場を取りながらも、ヤクザとして生きる美しい男たちの物語を描くという矛盾を抱えていました。yakuza6の最後は、そういう矛盾に決着をつけるためだったのでしょう。その結末は大変美しいものでした。
