It isnt a remake or a reboot as stated by the original director Imtiaz Ali himself but honestly no idea why he revisited the same topic so early. Its only been like 10y..
It was deep and profound. It beautifully portrayed the complexities of a 2020 love relationship. The choice between ambition and love, the choice between fast self growth and slow collective growth in a relationship and the risk envolved thereto, the cultural shock and confusion of a middle class moral guy in the glittering individualistic self centred big city and the wrong decision taken by him in that confusion. The purity and innocence of love in 1990 in contrast with the complex equations of love in 2020. Everything in the movie depicted the questions that are haunting youngsters in this present generation. It beautifully presented the much appreciated idea of love in the movie La La Land in the present Indian perspective with our culture and morals. The wisdom of elders through their mistakes and their redemptive craving for guiding young hearts was very heart touching. The movie correctly showed that some soulful memories are so ingrained in us that they actually become part of us the way Raghu had a living part of arushi inside him and was left searching for life to complete once he cheated with it. The idea that not every love is successful and some are destined to pay the cost for their mistakes. The reason this movie will not be a Blockbuster is that few people only experience that much a deep love relationship and then are able to put those feelings in philosophical and self realizing context. Or to say delve that deep to analyze it cos it needs rigorous intellectual exercise. Indian audience primarily look for entertainment in romantic cinema and are less interested in searching meaning of love in love stories.
It’s good to know that there are like minded people out there who appreciate the complexities of life on the big screen.. rather than being spoon fed the fantasy that everyone wants to live..
Beautiful said! The movie though it had bits of Sara overacting was still a good watch. People bashing it in ‘bhed chaal’ either have lost their the ability to have an individual opinion or are too consumed in living off their fantasy world running off from the realities of life. Tbh, there are guys like Kartik’s role in real life and no they are not mentally retarded. Similarly, there are girls like Sara as well. People who look for stories in romantic cinema should know that these are not thriller/horror/sci-fi movies with a definite end.

I watched the movie yesterday and liked it because it is of my taste. I am happy that you two too liked the movie. Not everyone will like this movie like movie 'Tamasha' which is one of my favourites. I could relate to Kartik Aryan -2020 character because he wants a perfect relationship which is lacking between his parents and I could relate to Sara's character also because many girl goes through that doubt before committing to marriage due to fear of the character of kartik aryan-1990. It's a brilliant movie only for emotionally intelligent people. Imtiaz has made this movie for people who can relate to the content, certainly not for mass appeal

I was very skeptical of this film because of all the bad reviews it was getting from everyone. But I had this instinct that it could be a decent film, & guess what it turned out amazing. Beautiful songs, beautiful first half. The second half might get little boring but overall it's a good film. Sara did overreact in some of parts but she was good too. Just because a heroine doesn't look picture perfect in every frame and doesn't act like a typical Bollywood heroine, doesn't make her a bad actor. I can relate to her, I cry ugly too. I believe everyone looks bad when they cry or when they are angry. We often make weird noises while crying or smiling. That's human nature. Kartik aryan did great job too. Not a fan of his filmography but this one hits the right chord. Arushi sharma is the real screen stealer. Randeep hooda is a legend. Do stop believing to all the nonsense and give it a watch you might end up liking the movie like I did. Atleast it is better than half of the movie released last year
